The food is always fresh, and the dishes are authentic yet unique and very inviting. Excellent value for money.

04/01/2026: Over time, we've enjoyed eating at Focacceria della Manuelina several times, so in recent years we've decided to spend New Year's Eve there (once, and everything went well) and twice at the restaurant, the last time a few days ago. The first time was truly excellent, but the New Year's Eve dinner for 2025-2026, which just passed, was very disappointing. I don't know if the Executive Chef has changed, but that's just not the way it should be. The menu offered at €190 per person, of which I've attached a photo (I also have the receipt), didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation, considered one of the best in the area. But since January 1st is also my birthday, I decided it was worth it. I'll leave out the description of the restaurant (it's now old and in need of a "substantial" modernization) and I'll also leave out the singers (not even autotune saved them). The Champagne throughout the meal was a decent 0.75 liter Covreur Prak Blanc de Noirs Orange Label, with a moderately low price. The tempura oysters were one oyster per person, and the mini brioche with their mini smoked salami was acceptable. The delicious cheese focaccia, a Manuelina specialty, consisted of three 6x6 cm pieces per person. After half an hour, they offered another small piece, lest we get indigestion. Everything else was served on small plates and in negligible quantities. The pumpkin cream soup with crunchy artichokes and crunchy artichokes was acceptable, but it was just a taste. Ditto the white risotto Margherita, completely bland, a spoonful spread on the small plate half a centimeter thick, but with a good red shrimp tartare. The foie gras ravioli with hazelnut butter and black truffle were drowned in butter and toasted hazelnuts that masked the already meager flavor. They tasted like nothing. Opening the ravioli revealed no trace of foie gras or black truffle: they were not present. The people sitting around our table left both the risotto and the ravioli, but they offered us seconds of the latter, which we obviously declined. The roast sea bass with flambéed scampi and citrus sauce was excellent, on par with the Manuelina we knew. Their gin and tonic sorbet was uninspiring. The crispy pastry with chocolate mousse and red berries was very good. Meanwhile, we had finished the entire meal's champagne by 11:00 PM. The "a thousand wishes" friandises consisted of five peanuts, three chocolates, two dried apricots, and two dried figs. Before midnight, the waiters disappeared; no one came to ask if we wanted two glasses for a toast. At 12:10 AM, we were already out of the restaurant, like many other guests. I just wish the owner, Mr. Carbone, would ask himself what went wrong this time, so much so that he decided never to return. It's a shame, really.

07/09/2025: Super friendly staff, very, very good food, the only place we eat sashimi. They're atypical Chinese here, "Emilian" Chinese. As soon as you get to know them, you feel at home (so much so that they bring a table fan if you're hot at dinner). A regular stop every week. Try it and believe it! 07/01/2026: We recently had dinner at Mare Blu, and the experience was delightful from start to finish. The restaurant immediately gives off a welcoming, local vibe — many guests were greeted personally by the owners and staff, which says a lot about how beloved this place is in the community. Our waitress, though not Italian, delivered impeccable service. She was polite, attentive, and carried a constant, sincere smile that added an extra touch of warmth to the evening. We chose the fuori menu, starting with paccheri con cape sante, followed by tonno as the main course. Every dish was flawlessly prepared. The tuna, in particular, was exceptionally tender and fresh — a real highlight. To finish, we shared a paradise cake, a layered dessert with a hint of alcohol. Despite its richness, it was absolutely delicious. Mare Blu receives my full recommendation. The food, the atmosphere, and the service all came together beautifully. Even our dog Toffee was given a comfortable and safe spot beside our table, which we truly appreciated. A lovely evening in every way. I look forward to returning.

15/12/2025: The best farinata in Genoa, RICCARDO cooks it fantastically, personally chopping the wood, strictly hazelnut, adding his fantastic oil, a healthy dish, reservation required, and enjoy your meal. Always the best.

04/01/2026: The review I never thought I'd write... The brioches remain, in my opinion, the best in Genoa. The service has become worse than any seedy bar in the historic center. If those in charge allow a rude and inadequate young woman to ignore a customer, to refuse to serve him simply because the customer, after the fourth instance of disrespect, reacted by asking the owner to intervene... then the famous "Mantero Style" goes to hell. I will clearly never set foot in the bar again, and I don't think it will be a great loss for a bar that works so hard... in fact, it will be a victory for the gang of rude women who run it: the defeat of one of the last bastions of courtesy and professionalism we had in Sampierdarena remains. How bitter.

26/12/2025: Fabulous croissants!!! I love the cream brioche ❤️! Superior quality! The staff are always super helpful, kind, and patient 🥰🥰🥰!!! When I go to my mom's place in Sampierdarena, breakfast is a must (actually, going to mom's... it's almost an excuse to have breakfast at Mantero's!!)! Compliments to ALL the staff... managing everything quickly isn't easy, even if some people (fortunately, a few)... don't always understand!! Congratulations again and thank you for opening this "little salon" on Via Cantore!
