21/06/2025: Overall, extremely subpar experience despite some highlights. Food and service being the lowlights. Of the dishes we tried, 50% were inedible (e.g. mullet, grains). We also had two times where the portion sizes were drastically different between two people at the same table. The servers didn’t do anything about it. For example, the spaghetti portions had one that was 50% the other which was comically bad. Another artichoke dish one plate had 3 and another plate only had 2. Shocking how little attention to detail the restaurant had for being so expensive. The service was also extremely slow (which I can understand given they were busier), but with the price, our expectations were much higher. I don’t recommend anyone coming here because of the lack of quality control and training in service.

06/07/2025: A beautiful place and in summer it's cool. High quality food, fast and attentive service, romantic and mysterious environment 😍😉. We had a great time, and then we also came back with our friends.

01/07/2025: Arrogant people who treat customers as if they are doing them a favor. We arrived a bit early, and the gate was closed. It was 35 degrees and my elderly father was in a lot of pain sitting in the car. I called and they told me they only open the gate at 12:30, so that's fine. Then at 12:40 they still hadn't opened it. I called again asking to open and they told us to wait because they weren't ready. I asked if my father could sit outside on one of their chairs (which I could clearly see) and they hung up. Arrogant people. We used to go to this restaurant often, but as the years go by they think they are divine. We will never go back. 24/07/2025: Returned with friends after trying it previously. Mare Matto is a guarantee. We ordered three large mixed fried dishes, excellent quality fish, and quick service. The fried food wasn't heavy; you could tell the oil had been recently changed, even though it was late in the evening and almost the end of the day. Eating it at the tables along the pier gives you a typical Livorno atmosphere. The only downside was the pigeons around, but with fried food this good, it's understandable that they'd be attracted.

21/07/2025: Paid 1.40 for coffee, asked for macchiato and they only added cold milk to the coffee, not even the glass of water was included, in other places with the same price they give it

14/06/2025: Informal but easy-going service, we had a good time. Really nice location especially when the summer darkness starts to come and that wonderful breeze comes. Super thin pizzas but with excellent ingredients. I recommend if you are in the area.

10/06/2025: A very nice restaurant with a varied lunch menu and pizzas in the evening. They also serve draft beer and a nice wine selection with attentive service.

24/07/2025: Premetto che siamo andati molte volte nel corso degli anni passati e abbiamo mangiato a volte bene a volte benino ma siamo sempre tornati, adesso credo sia l'ultima volta eravamo in 6 abbiamo preso antipasto x 3 ed era buono poi preso una bistecca (chiesta al sangue arrivata stracotta ed era di colore rosa/bianco) una tagliata (questa invece era cruda e dura) due filetti ( ma non lo erano!!!) e un fuori menù di spiedini con 3 tipi di carne (non male ma di carne non ce n'era) insomma siamo andati per la carne e siamo rimasti davvero delusi ... Dispiace, ai tempi di Antonio si mangiava bene.

06/07/2025: Purtroppo le aspettative sono state deluse… al momento di ordinare la signora ci ha proposto i piatti in maniera accattivante spiegando ingredienti e cotture peccato che poi nella pratica niente di tutto quello annunciato è stato rispettato… ci sono arrivati 3 primi completamente senza sale( in genere il cuoco DEVE assaggiare prima di far uscire un piatto in sala)quando l’abbiamo fatto presente si sono giustificati dicendo che forse la burrata che “notoriamente “è poco saporita ha reso tutto insipido e forse non era il giusto abbinamento e che quindi avrebbero aggiustato il piatto per le prossime volte… ma scherziamo??? Si fanno esperimenti culinari sulla pelle dei clienti… i nostri soldi però li hanno presi tutti e non erano un esperimento.

17/07/2025: My food was OK but not for worth the 43 euros bill. The best part was the antipasto of ham and cheese then I had a salad which sounded more exciting than it was, chunks of chicken in a tomato sauce which also sounded better on the menu, a glass of wine, cantucci and vin santo.

20/06/2025: Beautiful place with plenty of space for children to play. The food was good and the pizza was excellent. However, in my opinion, a little expensive for what was brought. We participated in the class dinner choosing an appetizer and pizza round. Everything was good but not much.

15/06/2025: In occasione della visita al castello di Fosdinovo, siamo stati ieri a pranzo: siamo stati accolti come se fossimo famigliari, tavolo sotto il pergolato d'uva con veduta fino al mare. Veramente stupendo. Il menù veramente ottimo. Da consigliare assolutamente i ravioli patate e porri conditi con un sugo in bianco di funghi pioppini coltivati da loro. Un piatto mai assaggiato ma di una bontà unica. Così come il coniglio fritto. Prezzi più che onesti con il coperto e il caffè (in moka Bialetti) offerti. I proprietari gentilissimi e cordiali; siamo stati veramente trattati come in famiglia. Esperienza assolutamente da consigliare e da ripetere!

02/06/2025: Pozione incredibile con una vista che nelle condizioni migliori arriva alle 5 terre e al monte della Corsica. Ospitalità famigliare e distensiva. Tanta simpatia. Piatti sobri ed accurati, buona la scelta. Siamo stati davvero coccolati! Torneremo sicuramente ad assaggiare i fritti e i primi!
