03/05/2026: My husband and I had lunch today. The food was carefully prepared, plentiful, and excellent quality. It wasn't heavy and tasted exceptional. I regret not having the gnocco fritto, which would certainly have been worth it, but we had a first course, a second course, and I also had dessert (a strawberry and Moscato tiramisu is something you must try). I absolutely recommend Roggiolo, and I recommend making a reservation because today it was sold out. Luckily, I booked during the week.

We should have done more research before sitting down...

19/04/2026: I didn't like it at all, and it was expensive too.
12/04/2026: We went for lunch on Easter Sunday. The menu was the fixed one. When we booked, we were asked via WhatsApp to be kind enough to arrive at the restaurant by 12:15, as they would begin serving tables at 12:30. We scrupulously respected this request. Once we were seated, we were brought a bottle of white wine, as per the menu. The quality of the wine was excellent, but it was a shame that the service was lacking in style, as the bottle they served us was already opened and not opened in our presence. Table service, instead of starting at 12:30, actually began at 1:00. A half-hour delay is certainly not the end of the world, but the waitress's excuse was disarming: "Some people arrived late, we do French service, we all start at the same time, so they had to wait." So, in effect, those who were diligent and punctual paid the price for latecomers, which is quite absurd. Service then began, but very slowly: it took approximately two hours to serve the three appetizers. Side note: the appetizer plate was always the same, so after the fish was served, they served the cured meats on the same plate... And the first courses? Slowly: the spaghetti arrived at 3:00 PM. When we asked the reason for the delay, the staff rudely responded: "Why are you in a hurry? Even at Easter?" We ignored it so as not to spark a contentious discussion and waited patiently, very patiently, for the second course of the first courses, the risotto. At this point, however, we said: enough! It's completely unreasonable to wait any longer, given the pace of service. We left our table and went to the cashier to pay the bill, not without expressing our dissatisfaction with the service. Instead of an apology, or at most polite words, we were almost offended by the response of the person who, if we understood correctly, was the owner. This certainly was unworthy behavior and significantly lowered the restaurant's rating.

04/06/2026: My wife, my two children, and I had dinner at Santopalato on a Monday evening. The welcome was both unusual and honest: before seating us, they invited us to read the menu to make sure their offerings would meet our tastes. A perfect choice that immediately made it clear that this isn't just a "normal" restaurant, but a place with a strong identity.
The setting appears simple at first glance, but it's actually meticulously crafted, extremely clean, and tidy. The real showpiece, however, is the kitchen: entirely visible and positioned right in the middle of the room. This element draws you into the experience even before you begin eating.
We were on a true journey of flavors. We started with a fresh appetizer of monk's beard and raw tuna, accompanied by a local salami that was nothing short of stellar. But it's the meats that really show off the restaurant: we sampled a delicious, buttery tongue, an exceptional asado, and a textbook pork belly, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. To drink, in addition to water, we paired our meal with an excellent bottle from the local Montelio winery (€25).
To round things off, the desserts (strictly made by the chef and of incredible quality): a panna cotta with berry jam and a phenomenal tiramisu, served tableside with hot coffee poured over it.
The service was top-notch. The chef himself served us and explained each course, engaging us and even showing my daughter the steps of the preparation behind the stove. His attention and passion truly make the difference.
The final bill was €168 for four. After including the bottle of wine, the food came to around €35 per person. The quality-price ratio is perfectly in line with the excellence of the ingredients, the meticulous preparation, and the generous portions (we left the table feeling quite full).
Highly recommended for those looking for more than just a meal, but a true experience.

04/05/2026: We had lunch at Locanda Merlino this weekend and were truly impressed. Despite the short notice, we were greeted with great hospitality and served with extreme kindness. The homemade pasta was excellent. A must-try! Thanks again for everything, we'll be back!
20/04/2026: I've been frequenting Locanda Merlino for a few years now with a large group of friends. After visiting a winery in the Oltrepò Pavese, it's a great place to refuel with local cuisine.
I had lunch with a very extensive menu that included several appetizers, cured meats, fried gnocco, cheeses, crostini, and Russian salad; two first courses: bigoli with white ragù and Pisarei e fasò (a typical Piacenza dish); two second courses: pork tenderloin with fig and potato sauce and roast beef with extra virgin olive oil; a dessert of your choice from the options, coffee, amaro, and the inn's own wine.
Personally, I really enjoyed the first courses... phenomenal.
The value for money is excellent, to say the least.
The restaurant has a few parking spaces on site, but you can also leave your car in a parking lot belonging to a company just a minute's walk away. You can dine both inside and on the outdoor porch, and it's worth it, especially during the summer months.

The friendly and helpful staff, the clean restaurant, and the prices below expectations... it will become our go-to place 🤗
27/04/2026: I visited this place for lunch and had a very positive experience.
The welcome was excellent: the staff is fun and friendly, putting guests at ease from the moment they arrive.
A significant added bonus is the availability of a children's menu, a detail that makes the place perfect for families.
My review is based on the appetizers, pizzas, and desserts (I should point out that I didn't try the first courses, so I can't judge the pasta).
Personally, I started with a pasta frittata, very flavorful and carefully presented. The potato croquettes were also truly excellent, made to perfection.
All the pizzas at the table looked inviting and tasted excellent.
I chose a fried pizza and was impressed: it was very tasty and, above all, not at all greasy. One of the best fried foods I've ever tasted.
To finish, I tried the pastiera. I was pleased to note that the orange flavor was intense and well-presented, just as tradition dictates (and that's by no means a given).
I was unfortunately unlucky with the "caprese," which I've always eaten cold; it was piping hot and even a little burnt, but it's still highly recommended.

The menu was exquisite, although I admit, as a true Tuscan, that I was skeptical at first. The risotto was incredible, delicious, I've never tasted it like this!!!
The staff were friendly, cheerful, and above all, impeccable.
I'll be back soon with my family because I've been talking about this place ever since I left...

27/10/2025: A well-rounded culinary experience. Excellent ingredients, cooked with a masterful touch. We ate a lot, but above all, everything was delicious. The appetizer was a dream: risotto with goose salami and porcini mushrooms, cooked to perfection and with the perfect consistency; the slow-cooked goose melted in your mouth. Great hospitality, warm and discreet at the same time. The setting allowed us to have a wonderful family lunch. Thank you, Casa Angela.
