After a short, winding drive, you arrive in a small mountain village where the air is crisp and the true landmark is this historic restaurant, open for over 50 years.
Buscone is all about local, zero-kilometer products, starting with the iconic Salame di Varzi and a full range of house-made cured meats. You'll find a well-crafted à-la-carte menu, but the real highlight is the excellent €40 tasting menu, which includes mixed appetizers, two first courses, one main, and dessert.
The dishes feature high-quality ingredients and thoughtful preparations, the standout being the juniper-braised venison with a Pinot Noir reduction, truly sublime.
The wine list showcases some of the most interesting wineries from the region, all at very reasonable prices.
A charming detail: several products, including their own Salame di Varzi, can be purchased directly on-site.
The staff is kind and welcoming, and the final bill is more than fair.

21/02/2026: A couple's dinner on Valentine's Day. Quality food, a welcoming and intimate atmosphere, excellent service. Kudos to Carolina for recommending the perfect wine to go with the dishes. She was professional in explaining the dishes and attentive to the customer's needs. Recommended.

12/04/2026: Six of us found ourselves in Varzi by chance during a Sunday stroll. After several crowded places, we found this one downtown. We were greeted warmly from the start, the staff were super friendly and attentive, and the menu was a bit limited, but the food was good. We ordered two braised ravioli, two carbonaras, and two malfatti. Good food, fast service, and a family atmosphere. The place is small but cozy. We'll definitely be back when we're passing through.
06/04/2026: What can I say, a fantastic experience! The staff is super friendly and attentive to their guests, always with a smile, and they even offered us focaccia! The eggplant meatballs were delicious and the dough was excellent. The fried gnocco was light and not at all greasy. Definitely a place to try!

04/04/2026: A dinner with my son in this little corner of Varzi. From the moment you arrive, you appreciate the small but well-kept and very tasteful location. The staff is extremely kind, smiling, discreet, and professional.
The dinner was enjoyable, the food was excellent, with just the right portions, and the wine was excellent. The bill... you can't expect to feel good, eat well, and pay little. Quality has to be paid for! I'll definitely be back.
We had the traditional appetizer, the green caramels and the chestnut flour tagliolini, and then the desserts!! 🥰 I don't remember what they're called, but I highly recommend them!

04/06/2025: Servizio veloce e personale molto educato. Abbiamo mangiato all'Esterno immersi nella pace collinare. Piatti e salumi cucinati in modo casalingo. Da sottolineare i salumi tipici molto buoni
25/05/2025: Peccato, davvero un posto carino ma il servizio lascia proprio a desiderare. Una signora molto antipatica che poi abbiamo ritrovato alla cassa ci ha servito. Abbiamo chiesto un assaggio di salame 6 fette di numero e l'hanno scritto come 1/2 salumi, mha... Il riso era salatissime. Nel complesso abbastanza delusi. Qualcuno ha scritto posto silenzioso, quel giorno non si poteva parlare dal rumore che c'era. È vero costa poco ma la qualità manca. Adatto a grandi comitive che non stanno tanto a guardare, anche la coppia vicina a noi se ne è andata dopo il primo. Sconsigliamo

Ci siamo sempre trovati molti bene.
Colazione, pranzo, pizza o cena, si mangia molto bene, ma soprattutto porzioni abbondanti. I prezzi non sono altissimi
Purtroppo posso solo pubblicare due foto dei suoi dolci davvero buonissimi.
Noi avendo la casa vicino a Varzi, dal lontano 1978, passare dalla signora Rita, anche per un caffè, è d'obbligo

09/11/2024: In un piccolo borgo tra le verdi vallate di Varzi, questo edificio finemente restaurato e mantenuto. L'accoglienza e il servizio assolutamente cordiali e sempre puntuali.
Il menù prevede tutte portate di provenienza e preparazione locale: insalata russa, salumi (salame crudo, coppa e pancetta, quest'ultima veramente stellare), torta varzese di riso, cipolla ripiena cotta al forno come antipasti; i primi, spaghettoni con ragù di costine (piatto top!), gnocchi con funghi, gnocchi di zucca con nocciole e liquirizia (piatto curioso e perfettamente equilibrato, peraltro preparato solo per me in quanto intollerante ai funghi); per secondo un arrosto cotto direttamente nel forno a legna (favoloso!) con contorni; infine, 5 diversi dolci, uno più buono dell'altro. Qualità eccellente per tutti i piatti, l'unico problema è il non riuscire a mangiare tutto. Vino, acqua e per concludere una sala intera con decine di distillati artigianali con zuccherini alcoolici alle diverse essenze aromatiche.
10 e lode.
07/11/2024: Una splendida giornata autunnale a Varzi e dintorni conclusa felicemente in questo agriturismo dove insieme a mia moglie e mio figlio abbiamo direi ottimamente pranzato. Tutte le portate egregiamente cucinate, un menù fisso dall'antipasto al dolce comprensivo di vino, persino il pane di loro produzione cotto nel forno a legna. Abbiamo fatto più di un bis ogni qualvolta la cameriera c'è l'ho proponeva. Cordialità, disponibilità, un plauso a tutti. Consigliatissimo. Per finire abbiamo anche assaggiato i loro zuccherini alcolici digestivi declinati in tanti gusti. Che dire ne è valsa la pena fare tanti km dal nostro amato Piemonte per gustare queste prelibatezze in questo angolo squisito di Lombardia. Sicuramente un 'esperienza da ripetere.
