23/08/2025: Passing through Foppolo, we had lunch at the restaurant. Nice place with good service, well-executed dishes, and a good wine list. All positive. A shame about the wine service: they brought us a bottle that didn't match our order. But it was immediately exchanged for the correct one. But both bottles were brought to the table already opened: that's just not acceptable.

26/07/2025: The restaurant is always very welcoming, as is the owner and his staff. The food is truly good and authentic...highly recommended. The daily menu is also around €12, and is always carefully selected and often features sophisticated dishes.

24/08/2025: A Tagliata That Left a Bitter Taste: The anticipation of a succulent tagliata, perfectly cooked and steaming hot, is a pleasure shared by many meat lovers. Unfortunately, the experience I'm about to recount turned out to be a culinary disaster, leaving me with a sense of disappointment and a less-than-pleasant taste. My order, a medium-rare tagliata, promised a memorable taste experience. Instead, what I was served was the exact opposite of what I expected. The meat, instead of being pink at the center and enveloped in inviting steam, was a charcoal black, a sure sign of overcooking. The texture, as a result, was dry, light years away from the tenderness and juiciness that characterize a well-executed tagliata. But the worst was yet to come. Despite its charred appearance, the meat was strangely cold to the touch. This anomaly led me to suspect that it hadn't been freshly cooked, but rather reheated, perhaps leftover from the previous day. The idea of consuming a reheated plate of meat, especially a tagliata that should be a triumph of freshness, was decidedly off-putting. The combination of overcooking and inadequate temperature made the overall experience extremely unpleasant. The flavor, compromised by the extreme cooking, was bitter and lacked the flavor notes I expected. Every bite was a struggle, a vain attempt to find a glimmer of pleasure in a dish that had proved a total failure. My disappointment was amplified by the presence of my companions. I didn't want to ruin the meal with my complaints, but the quality of the food was so poor that I struggled to hide my disappointment. The awkward silence that fell at the table as I tried to chew the charred meat spoke volumes. In conclusion, my experience with this tagliata was a complete disaster. The meat, overcooked, cold, and likely reheated, not only failed to meet my expectations but also ruined what should have been a pleasant day. I hope this review serves as a warning to the restaurant to pay more attention to the quality of its dishes and the overall experience of its customers. A dish like this not only disappoints the palate, but also undermines confidence in the restaurant and its ability to offer a noteworthy culinary experience.

12/09/2025: We went for the burger. There's a good selection, from classics to specials, and if I remember correctly, there was even a veggie burger. The patanegra appetizer was very good! For dessert, I had a custard millefeuille, which despite its generous size was light, with a very crispy pastry (as if it had been assembled freshly). A truly delicious dessert. The service is fast and courteous. The welcome is warm and welcoming. The place has its own personality. Everything seems to make sense and fit together. If you want meat, they can advise you on the best cut. The restaurant has limited parking in front of it, but there is free parking nearby. We'll be back to try other options.

13/09/2025: The hotel is excellent in every way. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the location is perfect. The reception staff are extremely helpful and friendly, always welcoming guests with a smile. I would especially like to mention Roberto, who went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable with his professionalism and kindness. Truly outstanding service – I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely come back again. 🙏

06/09/2025: We didn't have to wait, but we arrived right at opening time. Everything is freshly prepared, generous portions, and it tastes delicious! A very nice little family business and super friendly! It's busy, and you can also order food and takeaway.

16/08/2025: We ended up here based on the reviews. It's a little insider tip. The pizza is great and the lasagna was also very good. A good portion! We arrived a few minutes before 7 p.m. and were immediately asked if we wanted to eat and how many people were there. There are only a few tight spots outside. It's right next to the parking lot/street. But since it's a side street, it was quiet. It filled up quickly and everyone ate inside until it was full. The pizza was served reasonably quickly and was always garnished with basil. Tasted great! The prices are reasonable for the food and drinks, just more expensive than usual these days. It's a little insider tip for anyone who wants to eat delicious pizza!

04/07/2025: We stayed here in April 2025: The hotel is good. We were most satisfied here on our trip through Northern Italy. The room was spacious. Our huge luggage had plenty of room. The bathroom is large and very modern. There was enough storage space for everything. The service was very friendly and attentive. The weather was a bit chilly, so my friend was immediately given extra blankets. Great. The breakfast buffet is well-stocked for its small space. The coffee, made from freshly ground beans, is very good. The location is ideal between the old town and the train station. Perfect 👍

12/09/2025: Great restaurant. Staff speaks good English so can communicate with tourist easily. The food is incredible and also affordable! I had their special of the day. Which was a shrimp pasta with white sauce and wine. I think a few fans for outdoor seating would help in the summer.

12/09/2025: Everything was perfect, we had carbonara pasta and nothing to say, the taste was there and the quantity too. With such a reasonable price and fast service I can only give 5 stars 😊

01/08/2025: I personally would not recommend this place. At 30€ a cocktail, and up, it’s expensive for fairly bland tasting cocktails. Don’t get me wrong; the menu makes it sound like you’re about to indulge on the rarest tropical concoctions but they were moderately adequate. In fact, I had to send the La Paz cocktail back as it smelled and tasted like fish, despite supposedly being a passion fruit sweeter finishing cocktail as the menu described. The drinks are presented beautifully, however, and the service is nearly five star although it took forever to pay, and I was surprised after patroning there for about 2 hours, to not be offered a food or dessert menu, or more water (yes, I could have asked, but the whole point of 5 star establishments is so you get treated a bit). Furthermore, the ambiance is brilliantly stunning! Although for the Mandarin Oriental, I was surprised to see some rust and chipped flakes on the matte black umbrella finishes, and other cosmetic wear and tear. Look, these are all things I’m used to, but again, for the price and name brand established, it felt off putting (so much so, I said to myself, remind me - next time I stay 5 star to book with Four Seasons and not a Mandarin Oriental property as again I just felt the devil was lost a bit in the details). I really do want to re-emphasize the wait staff were awesome, and I truly believe they were just following the service level they were trained. Also this is a nit picky complaint, but the host sat me right next to another occupied table who were on a second or third date talking very loudly. The part that bothers me is half the space was unoccupied, and I had even pointed to a more further back area to sit, but was still directed to the same table - right next to the loud daters.

31/07/2025: Sempre una garanzia. Qualità della materia prima e lavorazione ai massimi livelli. Personale attento ma non "freddo". Simpatici, cordiali, pronti alla battuta ma soprattutto preparatissimi. Ci si sente sempre accolti con calore e con il sorriso. Per ora è solo una menzione, ma continuate così che la stella ve la meritate tutta!!!

29/07/2025: Ambiente raccolto. La sala è arredata con cura dei dettagli e contribuisce a creare un’atmosfera rilassata che favorisce la conversazione. Il servizio si rivela all’altezza delle aspettative più esigenti: il personale è il perfetto bilanciamento tra cortesia, competenza e riservatezza. I tempi sono ben calibrati, gli interventi al tavolo misurati e sempre funzionali alle esigenze del cliente, senza mai risultare invadenti. Il menu mostra equilibrio tra tradizione e innovazione, con piatti che reinterpretano la cucina locale senza snaturarla. Una menzione speciale va ai tortelli amari, in assoluto i miei preferiti. Sono, a mio gusto, i migliori mai assaggiati a Mantova. Ottimo anche il maialino. Equilibrata selezione dei dolci. In sintesi, un’esperienza che ripeteremo alla prossima visita a Mantova.
