15/08/2025: The atmosphere and location were very nice, as were the staff and the service, which was fast and friendly. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. Many dishes were sold out (the tripe and the fusilli). The appetizer of cured meats and cheeses also included other dishes (all potato-based): stewed fava beans, cruschi peppers, followed by cavatelli with cherry tomatoes and ricotta cheese, and cavatelli with breadcrumbs. The pasta was overcooked and I think precooked. It must have been a bad day. The prices are absolutely not high.

20/02/2026: Welcoming place. Luciano and his staff were extremely kind and attentive to every need. We had the honor of having lunch on a rather busy day as the Carnival float parade was underway. They recommended the rafanata, a truly delicious traditional Stigliano Carnival dish. I hope to return soon. Everything else about the lunch was top-notch. 👍 Thank you.

17/11/2025: Reading the name of this place I thought of warmth and genuine food, purely local. But I changed my mind, I only found commercial products from the supermarket for which I paid well above the average.

03/11/2025: Sala Ermica, the place that made us dream, the place that welcomed us for our wedding... Wonderful day 😍 And what can we say about Anna, the owner? She's a delightful person, very approachable, extremely knowledgeable about everything, very professional, and incredibly friendly. 🤭 We can only compliment Maitre Walter, who was so attentive to every moment; he even "sequestered" us at our table so we could eat at least one course the entire day. This truly touched us, because he showed a level of thoughtfulness we'd never seen before. Our compliments to the chef, he has golden hands. Whatever he cooks comes to life. Every single dish we tasted, every single one we ate, well, left you speechless. Every ingredient was perfectly proportioned, and even things we don't eat or like every day had a completely different flavor when cooked by him. Sublime. Everything was magically sublime! Sala Ermica, 5 stars and beyond 🥰

04/01/2026: What a wonderful experience and what a warm welcome. We had the privilege of meeting Greg and Silvia and sharing a culinary experience with them, "experiencing" the beauty of learning to make homemade pasta (cavatelli and orecchiette) with a sauce we prepared in the kitchen, then enjoying it with an excellent sweet wine, olives, cheese, and strictly local cured meats. The owners' involvement was beyond friendly. We have so much beauty that deserves to be shared, known throughout Basilicata, Italy, and the world.

30/12/2025: Greg and Silvia were excellent hosts when our family took a cooking class here on our way to Matera. They welcomed us with warmth and regional/agricultural knowledge. The meal was made with care, all with ingredients sourced from their property. We would definitely love to return and stay on site. Highly recommend for all ages and group sizes! A memorable experience on our trip.

08/04/2026: Excellent traditional local food with gourmet pairings. Perfectly cooked, high-quality food and ingredients, and meticulous presentation. A unique place to experience eating in a cave. Self-service allows you to save on cover while enjoying restaurant-quality food.

15/04/2026: This place has the dubious honor of being the first place where I don't eat well in all of Italy (and I've eaten in many different places). Plastic plates on our table and cardboard cups on the one next to it. They must have their reasons, I suppose. We went for lunch, and we ordered white lasagna (d'esbarcinia) and orecchiette with tomato sauce and meatballs (polpette). The lasagna has never seen one of esbarcinia and was reheated. As for the orecchiette, I think it's one of the most infamous dishes I've ever been served. Not only did it have no meatballs, but it had absolutely no meat. The tomato? Terrible. Obviously the pasta wasn't fresh, but considering what we were served, it's no surprise. Before the owner comes to tell me that I ate the lasagna plate, I want to point out that we ate it between two people because we hadn't eaten anything all day. Disappointing.

06/05/2026: Delightful restaurant/pizzeria. A bit off the beaten path, but don't skip this restaurant. Very friendly service. Good wine, fantastic thin and crispy pizzas, and to finish, a limoncello and espresso on the house. All this for a reasonable price. Just go.

05/05/2026: A fantastic experience this evening at the restaurant "da mario 2.0"... The food was absolutely delicious, especially the platter with many high-quality cured meats and cheeses! The service was impeccable! Roberto and Tatia were very attentive and offered excellent recommendations. We thank chef Vito for his creative and tasty dishes! The atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing evening. We can't wait to return!
