If you're visiting Matera, I recommend stopping by Caffè Centrale. Excellent coffee, artisanal pastries, gelato, and fruit sorbets.

You order at the counter, they charge you and then they bring it to you. Good coffee. Right on the main square. Toilet with a narrow passage, I don't know how a 120kg person can get through.

Peaceful and quiet place. The proximity to the bookstore gives it a special touch. I had the best espresso in southern Italy in this cafe! All recommendations, the pasticcioto is great!

Delicious coffee, delicious ice cream, and first-class tiramisu. It's a small place, with a few tables outside and a few seats at the bar, but it's worth it. I highly recommend it!

Nice strong coffee, delicious desserts, helpful staff and seating overlooking the square. For 2 coffees and 2 desserts for 10 € in the center of such a city, I think it's beautiful.

04/04/2026: The wine was delicious, and so were the pannini. Crispy and aromatic. We also ordered a plate of pickled vegetable appetizers. I recommend them.
