20/10/2025: There are experiences that go beyond simply "eating well." At Ristorante Vitantonio Lombardo in Matera, I experienced something truly extraordinary. The dish I will cherish forever is the risotto with truffle, salted caramel, and Amaro Lucano cream: a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and aromatic, an explosion of flavor that I would unhesitatingly call the best dish I've ever eaten in my life. Making everything even more special was Donato's kindness and impeccable attention in the dining room, making you feel like you were at the center of a complete sensory experience. Through the glass separating the kitchen from the dining room, I glimpsed a close-knit team, smiling, orderly, and impeccably clean: silence, precision, harmony—almost a dance that contributed to the truly magical atmosphere. The restaurant, carved into the Matera tuff rock, is an architectural spectacle: intimate, elegant, and authentic. Every detail exudes passion and respect for the land that hosts it. Donato's wine selection is an exciting journey through Basilicata and Europe, with perfect pairings that enhance each dish, showcasing the finest ingredients and creativity. An experience to be relived and re-lived many times in a lifetime, because in places like this, time stands still, and taste becomes pure emotion. We'll definitely be back!

04/10/2025: What a treasure in Matera. Beautiful delicious food, pretty setting, friendly and attentive service. Great value, too. Loved the wine pairings and the concept of being able to assemble your own tasting menu. Chef is in the kitchen himself. The Michelin star is well deserved.

20/02/2026: Welcoming place. Luciano and his staff were extremely kind and attentive to every need. We had the honor of having lunch on a rather busy day as the Carnival float parade was underway. They recommended the rafanata, a truly delicious traditional Stigliano Carnival dish. I hope to return soon. Everything else about the lunch was top-notch. 👍 Thank you.

17/11/2025: Reading the name of this place I thought of warmth and genuine food, purely local. But I changed my mind, I only found commercial products from the supermarket for which I paid well above the average.

15/02/2026: At the lady's recommendation, we chose the house antipasti, traditional local dishes, truly appetizing and fresh. Then came the cavatelli with chunky ragù and an entrecote with fried potatoes. These dishes also exceeded our expectations. The service was very friendly and attentive. We definitely recommend this trattoria, and if we return to the area, it will definitely be one of our favorites. Thank you for everything! Fulvio and Claudia.

16/11/2025: The place is very nice and the staff very attentive. I ordered a filet alla Rossini because I was craving meat. They asked me how I wanted it cooked and explained that it would come with potatoes and Madeira sauce. When I cut into my steak, it turned out to be a beet! I couldn't believe it. It wasn't even good enough for a vegan dish. A vegan dish is prepared, not just a boiled beet. Anyway, they replaced it and admitted their mistake. They brought me some very well-prepared meat, but a very small portion. And everything was very expensive. But the beet incident will go down in history as a funny anecdote.

08/01/2026: If I had to rate it from 1 to 10, I'd give it a seven. I'll explain: I had the €35 set menu, and everything was delicious, from the starters to the mixed meat main course. My only criticism, if I may, is the appetizer, which I thought was a bit small for Lucanian tradition; everything else was plentiful and delicious.

25/12/2025: I spent Christmas Day with my family and loved ones. The restaurant staff was kind and helpful. The quality of the ingredients enhanced the excellent preparation of the dishes. I hope to return soon.

24/01/2026: It's a nice place, but you have to wait for a table; you can't sit down right away. The waiter forgot to bring ketchup and mayonnaise, and there weren't enough cups. The pizza didn't take long to arrive; it was very large and delicious. The restroom is small and littered with junk, but there's a changing table. The checkout counter sells expired cookies, but they say they messed up the date.

27/12/2025: We came to visit Matera and were looking for a place to stop for lunch. We couldn't have chosen a better place; we opted for seafood. They were truly excellent. The quality-price ratio is unbeatable. Highly recommended.

25/11/2025: Today at lunch, I saw all the positive reviews that inspired me to try this restaurant. I can say that the quality of the ingredients and the preparation are truly excellent. We had two portions of cardoon pie, one parmigiana, and one fried artichoke, along with three bottles of water for €24. The dining room is welcoming and clean. You can use the restroom. Highly recommended.

29/12/2025: A paradise of top-quality meat. You choose your specialties at the counter and everything is cooked to order according to your taste. From fillet to sweetbreads, from Romagna bocconcini to spicy sausages and salami, not to mention the appetizers of traditional cheeses accompanied by exquisite lemon-infused extra virgin olive oil: everything is truly excellent. And the prices are almost unbelievably exceptional!

05/01/2026: Very convenient location: not exactly in the hustle and bustle of the historic center, but still very close. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, clean and bright. The owner is very kind but discreet. There aren't many tables, so reservations are essential or you risk being left empty-handed. The menu doesn't offer a huge number of dishes, but they're small, well-prepared, and tasty. It's obviously a matter of taste, but we liked it. The price we paid was fair. If it were in my city, I'd go back. Congratulations!

17/01/2026: Got lured by the smell of fresh pastry in the morning came to drink an evening coffe and eat another cornero as well. Poorly delicious.

15/08/2025: The atmosphere and location were very nice, as were the staff and the service, which was fast and friendly. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. Many dishes were sold out (the tripe and the fusilli). The appetizer of cured meats and cheeses also included other dishes (all potato-based): stewed fava beans, cruschi peppers, followed by cavatelli with cherry tomatoes and ricotta cheese, and cavatelli with breadcrumbs. The pasta was overcooked and I think precooked. It must have been a bad day. The prices are absolutely not high.

03/11/2025: Sala Ermica, the place that made us dream, the place that welcomed us for our wedding... Wonderful day 😍 And what can we say about Anna, the owner? She's a delightful person, very approachable, extremely knowledgeable about everything, very professional, and incredibly friendly. 🤭 We can only compliment Maitre Walter, who was so attentive to every moment; he even "sequestered" us at our table so we could eat at least one course the entire day. This truly touched us, because he showed a level of thoughtfulness we'd never seen before. Our compliments to the chef, he has golden hands. Whatever he cooks comes to life. Every single dish we tasted, every single one we ate, well, left you speechless. Every ingredient was perfectly proportioned, and even things we don't eat or like every day had a completely different flavor when cooked by him. Sublime. Everything was magically sublime! Sala Ermica, 5 stars and beyond 🥰
