05/01/2026: MAGICAL ATMOSPHERE I went to this restaurant to celebrate New Year's Eve with my partner and friends. I must say it was a wonderful experience: the venue was very elegant, the staff were polite and friendly, and the food was well-cooked and carefully presented on the plate. It's definitely a high-end restaurant, so I'd suggest white gloves for the waiters to further enhance its luxury, and I'd suggest playing some background music during dinner. But these are just suggestions; honestly, I have no complaints, and I'll gladly return.

23/10/2025: Food is indeed interesting, some meals were not my cup of tea but a nice experience. Getting the bill took quite some time. They had a problem and apparently had to write everything by hand, didn’t receive a real bill. Strange is that they made a mistake with the bill and they “calculated” the amount with 28€ more on top. I usually never check but decided to do this time. Keep this in mind and check your bill when you go there.

08/01/2026: If I had to rate it from 1 to 10, I'd give it a seven. I'll explain: I had the €35 set menu, and everything was delicious, from the starters to the mixed meat main course. My only criticism, if I may, is the appetizer, which I thought was a bit small for Lucanian tradition; everything else was plentiful and delicious.

25/12/2025: I spent Christmas Day with my family and loved ones. The restaurant staff was kind and helpful. The quality of the ingredients enhanced the excellent preparation of the dishes. I hope to return soon.

06/06/2025: Very nice restaurant with good food and very friendly service. A very warm welcome from the kitchen, good Prosecco, and a fantastic dessert (caramel cocoa tart)! We'd be happy to go back! The waiter made a real effort to speak Italian slowly, so we were able to understand him well despite our holiday Italian. So much more pleasant than being spoken to in English despite having limited Italian skills :)

28/08/2025: Over time, the welcome has deteriorated; it almost seems like they're doing you a favor by having you dine. We arrived at 9:10 PM, in the middle of summer, and anyway, if it was late, they could have said so and we would have gone somewhere else.

02/07/2025: Siamo stati alla Latteria dietro consiglio e…gran consiglio!! Abbiamo mangiato benissimo. Taglieri, spaghetti san giovannino, guanciale di vitello, tagliata, formaggio alla piastra. Tutto buonissimo. Se andate a Matera alla Latteria non sbagliate.

16/11/2025: The place is very nice and the staff very attentive. I ordered a filet alla Rossini because I was craving meat. They asked me how I wanted it cooked and explained that it would come with potatoes and Madeira sauce. When I cut into my steak, it turned out to be a beet! I couldn't believe it. It wasn't even good enough for a vegan dish. A vegan dish is prepared, not just a boiled beet. Anyway, they replaced it and admitted their mistake. They brought me some very well-prepared meat, but a very small portion. And everything was very expensive. But the beet incident will go down in history as a funny anecdote.

17/01/2026: Got lured by the smell of fresh pastry in the morning came to drink an evening coffe and eat another cornero as well. Poorly delicious.

Making everything even more special was Donato's kindness and impeccable attention in the dining room, making you feel like you were at the center of a complete sensory experience. Through the glass separating the kitchen from the dining room, I glimpsed a close-knit team, smiling, orderly, and impeccably clean: silence, precision, harmony—almost a dance that contributed to the truly magical atmosphere. The restaurant, carved into the Matera tuff rock, is an architectural spectacle: intimate, elegant, and authentic. Every detail exudes passion and respect for the land that hosts it. Donato's wine selection is an exciting journey through Basilicata and Europe, with perfect pairings that enhance each dish, showcasing the finest ingredients and creativity. An experience to be relived and re-lived many times in a lifetime, because in places like this, time stands still, and taste becomes pure emotion. We'll definitely be back!

04/10/2025: What a treasure in Matera. Beautiful delicious food, pretty setting, friendly and attentive service. Great value, too. Loved the wine pairings and the concept of being able to assemble your own tasting menu. Chef is in the kitchen himself. The Michelin star is well deserved.

25/07/2025: An absolutely wonderful experience – it truly felt like stepping into a fairytale. We stayed here for 2 nights in July for summer holiday, and were completely enchanted by the surroundings. The cozy farmhouse overlooks endless wheat fields, which had just been harvested when we arrived. The golden landscape stretched out to the horizon – peaceful, dreamy, and simply stunning. Every morning, we were treated to a delicious breakfast, beautifully presented and full of variety. It was the perfect start to the day, enjoyed in a calm and charming countryside setting. The host was incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. They gave us great recommendations for hidden gems around Matera that we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Everything about this place brought a sense of peace and warmth – the kind of countryside experience we absolutely love and will never forget.

20/06/2025: Un très bel endroit au milieu de la campagne du Basilicate et à quelques kilomètres de Matera. Accueil parfait, et en français. Une chambre très confortable et le lendemain, un petit déjeuner superbe, avec les produits de la ferme et venant aussi des alentours. À recommander absolument

05/01/2026: Very convenient location: not exactly in the hustle and bustle of the historic center, but still very close. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, clean and bright. The owner is very kind but discreet. There aren't many tables, so reservations are essential or you risk being left empty-handed. The menu doesn't offer a huge number of dishes, but they're small, well-prepared, and tasty. It's obviously a matter of taste, but we liked it. The price we paid was fair. If it were in my city, I'd go back. Congratulations!

24/08/2025: Today we finally ate at this restaurant. It's very difficult to find a table because it's always packed. Beautiful location near the sea. The staff is very friendly. The food is good quality and well-prepared. Lunch was seafood-based. I especially recommend the seafood paccheri. We had a variety of appetizers and two first courses. The portions were so generous that we couldn't finish the second course. I recommend trying this restaurant. Book at least two weeks in advance to avoid disappointment.
