I was lucky enough to stumble upon this corner of Matera. Relaxing atmosphere, generous portions, and a more than reasonable price. A true osteria, where the customer is first a guest and then a source of income.

We sat in the outdoor garden and had a great time. The place is simple, but the food and staff were memorable! I highly recommend it :)

I suppose the owner was not really interested in communication, not sure if he likes people at all. The lady was great trying hard to explain the menu in English. The food was ok but definitely not a place I would like to see again…

Walked past this osteria as we were wandering through Sassia. I had also seen it on Google maps also. The menu sounded different so we ventured in and so glad we did. Had an amazing freshly cooked meal with very good house red wine. Very reasonably priced. The waiter talked us through the menu. Can throughly recommend! One of the best meals we've had in our 9 days in Italy. 👍

06/07/2026: A pleasant surprise. The kingdom of roast meats and more. A rich appetizer of local specialties, including roasted cheese and caciocavallo and traditional cured meats, as well as samples of parmigiana, stuffed peppers, caramelized onions, and more. A taste of baked white lasagna with porcini mushrooms and crumbled sausage. And then the meat, plentiful and assorted. Wine, amaro, and coffee. Nestled in the Montepiano woods, in the cool. We'll definitely return.
