02/09/2025: Two truly delightful "light" lunches. We must return in the evening. The marina is in an excellent location. The boat is docked and the restaurant is just steps away. Taranto mussels and Greek salad. Three tasty appetizers: panzanella, octopus, and calamari with mango. Delicious, delicious. And the friendly, enthusiastic, and motivating service. It doesn't hurt. We'll be back at the first opportunity.

09/04/2025: Con i miei amici gastronomi, abbiamo scelto la Locanda dell’Abate a Montescaglioso per un pranzo fuori porta. Siamo stati accolti con grande cordialità, e lo chef e titolare, il signor Giuseppe, ci ha guidati nella scelta dei vini per accompagnare l’esperienza. L’antipasto di mare ci ha conquistati con il tentacolo di polpo arrosto e le seppie cotte nel mezzo limone, sprigionando profumi delicati e un perfetto equilibrio tra tenerezza e acidità. Il legame con il territorio si è fatto sentire con la cipolla in agro. I ravioli di pesce, avvolti in una salsa di pomodoro leggermente acidula, hanno offerto un contrasto raffinato, mentre i gamberoni in crosta sono stati semplicemente eccellenti. L’atmosfera raccolta, grazie ai pochi tavoli in sala, ha reso la conversazione piacevole e conviviale. Concludiamo questa esperienza domenicale con un plauso allo chef Giuseppe per l’ottima organizzazione e la qualità delle portate. Torneremo presto!

11/08/2025: We sat down at 12:00. We were told the kitchen wasn't open yet. We ate at 1:30. The owner was rude. My wife, who is lactose intolerant, was brought a lactose-free pasta dish. But she was so upset she couldn't eat it. We left unsatisfied, paying €47 for three entrees and water. Failed.

13/08/2025: We wanted to have lunch at 2 pm when the schedule says it closes at 3 pm and they told us they had already closed the kitchen... unfortunate in a tourist city like Matera...

08/08/2025: - Service: Self-service, with plastic cutlery and food served in traditional poke bowls. The waiter at the entrance explains the service and gives you menus, then you can sit wherever you like. There's a device at the table that, once you've ordered (return to the waiter at the counter), lets you know when your food is ready. Overall, the service was fairly quick and the waiter was very friendly. - Cuisine: The restaurant offers a variety of local dishes at reasonable prices but of good quality. For our appetizer, we tried the "cialledda" from Matera, a bread-based dish topped with tomato sauce, cucumber, tomatoes, and basil; it was very refreshing on the hot day. For our first course, we tried the orecchiette with turnip tops and crusco peppers (€9) and the cavatelli with pezzente sausage and cardoncelli mushrooms (€9), both of which were very popular, but I especially enjoyed the mushrooms in the second course. Finally, for dessert, we had "sporcamuss," a delicate yet crunchy puff pastry with custard. - Atmosphere: Quiet, quite cool, and informal. - Venue: Very simple, yet characteristic. Entirely carved out of stone, with typical cave decorations and ornaments scattered throughout. There are about twenty tables, but only inside. - Location: Sasso Caveoso, a short walk from many attractions and panoramic bridges, such as the Pascoli lookout. - Opinion: The quality of the food, the reasonable price, and above all, the availability of tables without waiting are definitely the restaurant's strong points.

03/08/2025: Ovviamente la lication è molto bella, ma offrono cibo di qualità e servizio veloce, anche se non hanno il servizio al tavolo per ora. Tutto davvero buono: antipasto prodotti tipici, tagliata, salsiccia, patata al forno, vino rosso locale. Molto disponile e gentile il personale. Ci torneremo sicuramente.

23/08/2025: If you find yourself passing through Stigliano, go there! Despite the somewhat spartan appearance of the place, the manager and staff are so welcoming and hospitable that you'll feel pampered. The cuisine is excellent and varied. Excellent!

31/07/2025: Siamo stati lì in quattro ..una delusione ....x iniziare un piatto a testa di salumi contati con una mozzarella sopra ..una ciotolina con una frittatina una con melanzane e una con patate fatte come un soufflé e un piatto con cipolle e salume tagliato a dadini ..poi un piatto di arrosto di maiale tutto da dividere in quattro anche la pasta mista con funghi ..(non di stagione) il vino travasato da bottiglioni di plastica ...e nel menù c'era scritto misto carne arrosto che non e' arrivato.. peccato xchè il locale e pulito e il servizio è buono ..ma niente peperoni crusca o altro di locale ..il dolce non c'era e x frutta uva sempre da dividere in quattro.peccato...

20/07/2025: Tornerei in questo ristorante perché la cucina è molto buona con piatti della tradizione e pasta fatta in casa. Sarebbero gradite più spiegazioni dei piatti . Menu unico a 30 euro con 8 antipasti molto buoni, un primo, un secondo con contorno, frutta e caffè . La titolare cuoca molto gentile e disponibile a chiarimenti sui piatti.

30/12/2024: After the visit to the living nativity scene, since it was dinner time, we found ourselves in front of the pizzeria and went in, the welcoming and kind owners made us sit down, we took the pizza menu which included an appetizer with cold cuts and cheeses, a pizza, a drink, sweet or coffee at €18 everything was excellent

23/12/2024: Extremely positive experience! Fantastic food, unbeatable price (the fixed menu for €18.00 is incredible for what it offers: appetizer, first course of your choice, dessert with drink/wine included!), really kind staff and excellent service, especially the super kind and proactive waiter! The portions are super abundant and above all delicious, I highly recommend it!

29/07/2025: The staff was extremely rude. We came to eat with a party of 7 who were running a few minutes late. I arrived first with my sisters. We were told the kitchen will be closing in 15 minutes so we asked for menus so we could order for the whole party. The restaurant manager told us that we “can have the menus if we want” but we “cannot” order till the rest of the party arrives. A few moments later when my brother arrived and made the same request, the manager was instantly politer and agreed to take the whole party’s order. Later on in the meal my father had to take a phone call and moved to another table to be to talk in peace in an otherwise empty restaurant. Our waiter interrupted his call and scolded him for making an additional table “dirty” and how he will have to clean it “because of him”. The food was absolutely excellent but the terrible service unfortunately ruined our experience.

19/07/2025: Very beautiful place! Food was a four..local cuisine and a large selection of wines Service was a two-plus. Waiters rarely came to the far hall. Dishes took a long time to be brought out. And dirty plates stood on the table until the next dish was served. The gentleman who offered a selection of wines..looked very arrogantly (although the wine we took was not cheap).

02/09/2025: I didn't enjoy their focaccia this year due to gastritis. But for those who can, this bakery is a must-visit.

21/08/2025: Excellent artisan bakery that makes exceptional focaccia. The onion one is spectacular, with a nice filling. Friendly service and old-fashioned prices; the four of us spent about €10 for lunch, or €2.50 each. A great option for buying lunch and then heading to the beach.

06/06/2025: Very nice restaurant with good food and very friendly service. A very warm welcome from the kitchen, good Prosecco, and a fantastic dessert (caramel cocoa tart)! We'd be happy to go back! The waiter made a real effort to speak Italian slowly, so we were able to understand him well despite our holiday Italian. So much more pleasant than being spoken to in English despite having limited Italian skills :)

02/09/2025: We dine at Morgan in Matera, or an extremely warm welcome was reserved, a careful team has advised and served. The quality of the meal was beyond our expectations, we spent a great time out of time, in a beautiful decor. Thank you to the whole team
