The quality of the croissants and our cappuccinos was excellent, and the prices were absolutely reasonable. Il Sedile is a place where even non-Matera visitors will feel at home. The owner is always ready to provide valuable information and recommendations for places to visit. In short, Il Sedile is highly recommended for anyone visiting Matera. The combination of warm service, high-quality products, and a welcoming, non-touristy atmosphere makes this place an experience we'll never forget. 29/01/2026: A place with authentic, quality products, excellent and expertly cooked Podolica beef. The flavors of yesteryear. You can tell right from the appetizer, with artisanal cured meats and cheeses. Reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back.

13/03/2026: What a pleasure it was to eat at this friendly restaurant. We had the linguine with scampi, and spaghetti carbonara. The accompaniments were tasty. The owners greeted us warmly, and were as helpful as could be. There was a table of around 20 people nearby celebrating the 2nd birthday of a toddler, and the owners couldn’t have been more accommodating to them. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant for inexpensive and satisfying meals.

28/08/2025: Over time, the welcome has deteriorated; it almost seems like they're doing you a favor by having you dine. We arrived at 9:10 PM, in the middle of summer, and anyway, if it was late, they could have said so and we would have gone somewhere else.

06/06/2025: Very nice restaurant with good food and very friendly service. A very warm welcome from the kitchen, good Prosecco, and a fantastic dessert (caramel cocoa tart)! We'd be happy to go back! The waiter made a real effort to speak Italian slowly, so we were able to understand him well despite our holiday Italian. So much more pleasant than being spoken to in English despite having limited Italian skills :)

15/03/2026: Meh... A nice pizzeria overall, mind you, but they handle takeout a bit poorly. I ordered a pizza off the menu and asked for it sliced. When it arrived, some ingredients were missing and it wasn't sliced. The dough was a bit heavy, and it was definitely worse when cold (and therefore takeout).

06/03/2026: The place is very nice and the service is friendly. Unfortunately, the food leaves much to be desired. The fries on the pizzas were cold and soggy; they didn't taste like fries. The dough was rubbery, and overall, the pizzas were unpleasant.

08/01/2026: If I had to rate it from 1 to 10, I'd give it a seven. I'll explain: I had the €35 set menu, and everything was delicious, from the starters to the mixed meat main course. My only criticism, if I may, is the appetizer, which I thought was a bit small for Lucanian tradition; everything else was plentiful and delicious.

25/12/2025: I spent Christmas Day with my family and loved ones. The restaurant staff was kind and helpful. The quality of the ingredients enhanced the excellent preparation of the dishes. I hope to return soon.

05/05/2026: We're having dinner at this restaurant. The food is very good and plentiful. I recommend the 7-course appetizer. The staff is very kind and friendly.

10/04/2026: This restaurant is located in the countryside between Matera and Ginosa. A beautifully renovated farmhouse with a well-kept garden and ample parking. We were here for Easter Monday. The menu was extensive (two appetizers, two first courses, a second course, fruit, dessert, and lemon sorbet). A welcome drink was offered upon arrival. During lunch, the waiters stopped by several times for second helpings, and drinks were plentiful. The dancing space was a bit small, but fortunately only a few people got up to join in. The entertainment was engaging.

09/02/2026: The service is excellent; they are attentive to the different needs of the guests, friendly and very helpful, and the service is fast. The food is consumed first with the eyes (the plating is meticulously prepared) and then it is truly, very good. Impeccable organization. Highly recommended.
