05/05/2026: We had an incredible lunch here today. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was next level—the owner greeted us with two glasses of welcome wine and even let us sample some excellent reds and whites to find our favorites. As for the food, every dish was spot on. We ordered the Florentine steak, seafood pasta, and an appetizer, finishing off with a delicious tiramisu. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend this gem if you’re looking for amazing food paired with genuine warmth!

05/05/2026: One of the best dishes I ate in Italy, the pasta sauce was delicious. The fried seafood trio with lemon was well worth it. The atmosphere, the service, and the food – the restaurant gets a 10/10. We will definitely return.

One flaw: the waitress serving the wine looked at us askance when we decided not to drink wine since we had a five-hour drive home. It's true that we're in a winery where wine is produced, but not ordering wine with lunch isn't a crime. Otherwise, everything was great.

02/06/2026: One of the best experiences I had in Florence. The place is very typically Italian and avoids the current concepts of being Instagrammable. With authentic cuisine, bread to savor the dish until the very end. The dessert was also delicious, we will definitely be back! Everything was perfect.

02/05/2026: The food was fantastic! The waiters were also incredibly friendly. We ran out of water and all the shops were closed because of the holiday. One waiter gave us a large bottle of water, and we are incredibly grateful!

28/12/2025: Highly recommended! The staff is friendly, professional, and happy to chat with anyone. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, especially compared to other nearby restaurants. We had the spaghetti carbonara, the grilled chicken, and the veal loin: everything was delicious. The potatoes were exceptional. Shoutout to the guy I believe to be the manager, who welcomes customers and makes them feel at home. His voice, reminiscent of Giobbe Covatta, makes the conversation even more enjoyable. Thanks also to the young man who served us at the table, who was competent and very kind. Congratulations to everyone, and we hope to return soon!

11/06/2026: We had a wonderful experience at La Castellana. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Both the pasta dish and the meat dish were excellent. The meat was cooked perfectly, and they were very generous with the truffle, which added a fantastic flavor. The quality of the food was outstanding, especially considering the price. The restaurant offers excellent value for money, which is becoming increasingly rare to find. Overall, we were very impressed and would definitely recommend La Castellana to anyone looking for great food and a pleasant dining experience.

12/05/2026: The atmosphere is welcoming, well-kept, modern, and warm (with the kitchen and dining room staff's artwork and names). The service was prompt, prompt, and friendly. The grilled octopus was simply spectacular. The scallops and tarte tatin were also delicious.

28/04/2026: We had a superb last evening with our family in Gastone. After all the lovely but meat heavy diners we had in Florence so far, this was a perfect ending of our trip. The quality of the food is outstanding, as well as the service and the atmosphere. They take food serious here. We wanted to share starters, some pasta’s and a main. They were really flexible in accomodating our wishes and the waitress made good suggestions on what to choose and how many portions would be enough. They also did good wine pairings and let us taste some wines we did not try before. Every dish from starter to dessert was simple, but of outstanding quality, just made with good ingredients and care, like you want Italian food to be. Can recommend the scallops, dry aged fish sashimi and the pasta with bottarga - some very special dishes for real fish lovers you would not easily find somewhere else. Although having a full dinner with multiple dishes is pricier than the average restaurant in Florence, we thought all in all the price/quality ratio is very good.

03/05/2026: We decided to celebrate my daughter's birthday here. It was a surprise, and the restaurant even prepared a bouquet of flowers for dessert, along with a beautifully presented plating. The Fiorentina steak was described as one of the best we've ever tasted. The plating, quantities, and flavors of all the dishes truly delighted us. Dogs are welcome. The staff is always ready to make guests feel comfortable. For five of us, we spent €318. For those who prefer, they even have a private room with a dedicated waiter. For those who smoke at the entrance, there's a corridor room with covered sofas. There's a doggie bar just outside the door.

15/06/2026: The staff guided us perfectly and the pasta dishes were some of the best we had in all of Italy. Nice wine list and helpful staff for any questions. Make a reservation but well worth it.

15/06/2026: Breathtaking. The pici cacio e pepe are delicious, as are the pappardelle with ragù. The real highlight is obviously the steak, 10 out of 10, it melts in your mouth... and Giacinto is a superstar. It will become a must-try every time we return to Florence.

22/05/2026: Wow - this the best dinner we have had so far in Italy. I had the lasagna which was very delicious, however, my wife had the Gnocchi and it’s the best gnocchi i have ever had. The staff is also very helpful and attentive. I recommend getting a reservation because it can get full. Highly recommend!!
