The pasta was outstanding and the fish impeccably fresh, all at prices that felt remarkably fair for the quality on offer. The atmosphere is relaxed and authentic, the service friendly and efficient, and the whole experience felt like discovering a restaurant that locals would rather keep to themselves. If you’re looking for genuine Sicilian cooking rather than a tourist trap, Osteria Mercede is an excellent choice. ★★★★★

The food was absolutely outstanding—fresh, flavorful, beautifully prepared, and clearly made with care. Every dish was delicious and showcased the wonderful flavors of Sicily. The service was equally impressive: attentive, warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming from beginning to end. The restaurant itself is charming, inviting, and full of character, creating the perfect atmosphere for a memorable evening. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we lingered longer than we intended. When it was finally time to close, our server gently and graciously let us know in such a classy and elegant way that we couldn’t help but smile. It perfectly reflected the hospitality and professionalism of the entire team. If you are visiting Syracuse and only have one evening to enjoy a special meal, make it here. There are many restaurants to choose from, but La Foglia 1984 delivers the complete experience: exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and a warm, authentic Sicilian atmosphere. It was one of the highlights of our time in Sicily and a place we will remember long after our trip is over. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Overall, highly recommended for a good lunch, especially if you arrive by ship. It's a short walk from the port and not overrun with tourists. Authentic and delicious cuisine.

11/05/2026: We came to try the Sicilian cuisine, especially because of the unique menu. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed by the food. The lasagna was okay but the couscous fish dish felt like it was reheated rather than prepared fresh. Similarly the focaccia wasn’t particularly good. The atmosphere was also very quiet - perhaps some light music would help.
