La Buca di Ripetta

Roma
15/05/2026: The carbonara was delicious!! So good that both my boyfriend and I had seconds. Kindness and humanity are hallmarks of this restaurant: I forgot my wallet on the chair, and they were incredibly kind and went out of their way to find me. Once they got in touch, they were super helpful in getting it back to me in Como (I'm from Como). A special thank you!
14/05/2026: The Caprese salad, a fairly standard dish, was bad. The tomatoes weren't ripe and the mozzarella was rubbery. Then I had the minestrone soup: overcooked. The vegetables were mushy. My partner ordered pasta with anchovies, which was okay, nothing special. The tables are tiny; we even spilled an entire glass of wine and weren't offered another. Based on the Goo rating, I think this restaurant is overrated.

Osteria da Giorgione

Latina
13/05/2026: What a feast! I have no regrets about the €60 I paid. Guys, I really want to go back tomorrow!!!! We had two menus for €18 and one for €13. An exceptional white wine and a large Pepsi, wow! The dishes are generous. I brought back three boxes. I ate the chicken cacciatore, it was better than ever! It's a great place to be, and then, guys, PEPSI IN A GLASS!
10/05/2026: Friendly and welcoming host, you'll be spoiled for choice with the first courses. The porchetta is recommended; it melts in your mouth.

Ippocampo

Roma
04/05/2026: The supplì are soaked in oil and precooked. A mini zucchini flower costs 4.00. Look how small it is.

Velavevodetto ai Quiriti

Roma
06/03/2026: I'd already been to the restaurant in Testaccio, but this time for a lovely lunch on the veranda, we chose Velavevodetto in the quiet Prati area. Simple, traditional dishes are served, and reservations are recommended because it's popular and they have multiple seatings. This time, I had fried artichokes, escarole, and pasta with Romanesco broccoli and pecorino cheese. The pasta was lovely and creamy, and the escarole was also topped with a generous helping of raisins and pine nuts, which I appreciated. The portions are satisfying, and the service is average; a smile is always nice.
03/03/2026: The food is excellent, clearly the result of experience in its preparation. After all, they've been offering the same menu for years, so it's truly a tried-and-tested establishment! The quality/price ratio is also excellent. It's definitely a restaurant worth recommending and frequenting.

Antica Osteria Da Giovanni

Roma
13/05/2026: A place with an authentic, traditional, and historic flavor, the kind that seems to have remained faithful to the Rome of old. Tasty Roman cuisine, simple but well-made, without chasing fads. It was an unusual and unexpected discovery, one of those places you stumble upon almost by chance and whose authenticity stays with you forever.
08/05/2026: A traditional osteria tucked away from the crowds. Beautiful food and lovely service at a great price.

Trattoria Perilli

Roma
31/05/2026: A historic restaurant serving traditional Roman cuisine. The menu offers a wide range of traditional specialties, but also offers simpler, lighter options. The restaurant is always busy, making it noisy on peak days and at peak times. I recommend booking online in advance.
31/05/2026: Very good food, catering for all tastes (obviously traditional Roman fare). I recommend the carbonara, the fried dishes, and the oxtail stew. Quick and knowledgeable staff, and almost no wait time. Old-fashioned atmosphere, but given that it's a long-established trattoria, that's acceptable. The bill is a little high, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Ristorante Romolo alla Mole Adriana

Roma
11/06/2026: We ordered pasta al ragu and pasta all'amatriciana. First, the pasta wasn't homemade (which is understandable since it wasn't specified as such). The all'amatriciana tasted like store-bought tomato sauce (the fried kind from a carton) with bacon (not guanciale, even though it was listed on the menu). The spaghetti al ragu wasn't spaghetti at all; they brought us gnocchi. Second, we specified that we didn't want cheese because the person we ordered didn't like it, and surprise, surprise, when you pierced the meat, it oozed out with cheese! By the way, the bread was €2 (with olive oil, which was tasty), but they served it to you without you even asking. A shame and a disappointment after our good run. That said, it was cheap: two pasta dishes, two coca cakes, and the bread came to €34.
11/06/2026: Everything was awesome, everyone was so kind. Foods were delicious, big and enough portions.

Piatto Romano

Roma
23/05/2026: It's not just the name :) Excellent Roman dishes, tradition, and the search for quality raw materials, and not the usual ones. An extension of home
22/05/2026: In the Roman culinary landscape, where the line between authenticity and tourist hype is increasingly blurred, Piatto Romano stands out as a true oasis of culinary resilience. Located in the heart of Testaccio, the neighborhood that historically gave birth to the most visceral Roman cuisine, this restaurant is an essential reference point for gourmets seeking authentic flavors, those codified by time and memory. The setting exudes a sober elegance of times gone by, far removed from the fleeting trends of contemporary design. The warm and welcoming rooms evoke the atmosphere of historic 20th-century trattorias, where conviviality is a serious matter and the table becomes the center of the world. There is no room for superfluous frills: here, aesthetics are entirely at the service of hospitality, creating an ideal atmosphere for long Sunday family lunches or dinners where the food demands the utmost attention. The service moves with impeccable synchronicity, governed by a "Roman savoir faire" that combines professional composure with a profound, yet measured, cordiality. The dining room staff demonstrates an encyclopedic knowledge of the ingredients and local traditions; there's no flattery, but a dignified pride in describing the daily specials and recommending the most appropriate pairings, just as the innkeepers of old did, preserving the deep bond between guests and their kitchen. The culinary offering is a true monument to Lazio gastronomy, with an almost philological focus on the "fifth quarter" and seasonal dishes. The Cacio e Pepe is a testament to technical mastery: the creaminess, achieved exclusively by expertly balancing the pasta cooking water and the Pecorino Romano DOP, envelops the spaghetti flawlessly, enhancing the pungent note of freshly ground pepper. However, it's in the main courses that the cuisine reaches heights of absolute excellence. The Coda alla Vaccinara (Coda alla Vaccinara) is prepared according to the strictest traditional standards: the meat, slowly cooked for hours, is exceptionally tender and sits in a thick, velvety sauce, enriched with that subtle hint of cocoa that defines its ancient aromatic profile. Also noteworthy are the Carciofi alla Giudia (Jewish-style artichokes), golden and crispy like a rose of puff pastry, expertly fried without a trace of greasiness. Ultimately, Piatto Romano doesn't chase the flattery of avant-garde critics, but rather pursues the perfection of the classic with intellectual honesty. It's a precious address, a fundamental stop for anyone wishing to understand the true nobility of popular Roman cuisine, celebrated through rigor, respect for ingredients, and a passion that stands the test of time.
