You're immediately greeted with courtesy and elegance, right up to the restaurant entrance where I'll wait for you to put away your jacket or coat. Then you're escorted to your table, and from there the lust begins. Knowing what's cooking is fantastic, with fantastic pairings and exquisite ingredients. I assure you that with just two simple things to start the aperitif (mortadella and schiacciata), you'll already be in raptures. The food was delicious, and the stay was pleasant. We had an appetizer, first course, second course, dessert, and coffee. Highly recommended; I'll definitely be back, especially to try the guinea fowl tortelloni with aromatic herbs.

10/03/2026: High-quality products... cooked well and with so much passion. The fried gnocchi are exquisite...the stracotto and pumpkin-filled tortelli in three variations are also highly recommended...exceptional. We concluded the dinner with a selection of cheeses and mustards, all accompanied by a wonderful Giuseppe (the manager)...everyone's cousin (when you pay)....good expireance.

09/03/2026: First time at this restaurant. Very well-maintained location, beautiful garden (we hope to return in the summer). Quiet and well-decorated atmosphere. Helpful and always present staff. Generous dishes, excellent flavors, and a fair price. We really enjoyed the fried gnocco for appetizer, the pumpkin tortelli with sausage, and the amazing tiramisu for dessert. Highly recommended! We'll be back. ++++

20/01/2026: It was one of the cornerstones of the restaurant industry. One of my favorite restaurants. Intrigued by the new management, it was a disappointment, unfortunately a huge one. Its identity and history were lost in the pursuit of a star. A real shame, going against current trends; so much was spent to dazzle the public, and its soul was lost. A restaurant like many others. The bathrooms are nice, there are fewer tables, and there's more space per person. They even have "water to get into the rankings"... but these days, people aren't looking for that anymore, but for substance. The wine list is also truly poor (with sometimes excessive markups). The cuisine lacks energy, despite using top-quality products and ingredients. The staff is at the same time perfect, impeccable. It's very unfortunate to have witnessed such a sad ending. I wouldn't recommend it, and I wouldn't return. Unfortunately.

08/01/2026: We read about Osteria dei Ranari in the Guide, and immediately got in the car, intent on trying their historic cuisine. Arriving in Mantua on a freezing, snowy day, we were greeted by the warmth of the grandmother's floorboards and the old wooden tables. The dishes are like a warm embrace, a cuddle, both the vegetarian options and the classic meat dishes. My companion ordered sweet pumpkin ravioli and the mixed boiled meats, while I ordered the pasta with toma, artichokes, and pumpkin, and a terracotta gratin with taleggio, onion, artichokes, and potatoes, finishing with a Belgian pudding. We washed it all down with an excellent Lambrusco recommended by the waitress. The service was discreet and excellent, and the lady in the kitchen was very kind to share the dessert recipe with us when it came to the bill and to chat with us cordially. We left again in the cold, but satisfied and refreshed. Thank you for everything!

01/02/2026: A typical, pleasant restaurant serving traditional Mantuan dishes. The staff is very friendly and cheerful, always a joy to be around. The bread basket is magnificent, and the breadsticks are addictive. We ordered the mixed cured meats and artichoke on a parmesan fondue as an appetizer. The artichoke was excellent, along with the cured meats (exceptional shoulder). We then ordered two pumpkin tortelli for the first course. We loved them: delicate, not overly sweet, the pasta was just the right thickness, and the portion was generous. Water and Lambrusco rounded out the meal. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the food and service.

15/02/2026: Excellent location, delicious food, and service that, in my opinion, is extremely courteous and welcoming, but never intrusive or overly formal. The wine list features local wines worth exploring. Let us recommend them. Definitely deserves a 5/5.

08/02/2026: We had the pleasure of dining in this wonderful place, the food was delicious, especially the exquisite Mantovani pumpkin tortelli, which stayed with me for days... a note of excellence for the service, as when I was grabbing the bottle of oil I hit the bottle of water and it broke, all the glass ended up on the plate and the very kind owner and the waiters cleaned everything up and redid the cut from scratch without applying a surcharge, truly priceless food and service!
