18/12/2025: I'd been there 21 years ago, and it was already an institution! A "family-like" atmosphere, informal, and pleasant. Typical, homemade food, a location that gives you the feeling of eating at home, with your grandparents... The owner, a descendant of generations of restaurateurs, is always attentive to his customers: he talks about the hospitality his grandparents gave him, and he's a friendly host who also enjoys sampling tradition. If you're visiting the area (the Mileto Museum has numerous interesting artifacts and unique pieces!), I highly recommend stopping by!

31/03/2026: Stunning pasta dishes! My husband is still raving about how wonderful the Strangozzi al profumo di mare (fresh spaghetti with mixed seafood) was - incredibly fresh pasta and a great range of seafood in a delicious sauce. Large portions and served with bread (in a paper bag). I had the linguine with prawns and pistachio which was tasty. Local wine was easy drinking.

27/03/2026: Delicious pizza and one of the cheapest in Tropea. Highly recommended! Our top pick is the A Vampata pizza from N'duja—delicious.

01/04/2026: There's no truck parking. Self-service is well-stocked. The food is good, but it's not that great, and the price is a bit high for a self-service restaurant: €20 without coffee.

06/01/2026: This restaurant is located just steps from Gambarie's main square. The atmosphere is very quaint and welcoming on cold or snowy days, thanks also to the fireplace. Excellent selection of wines and delicious dishes, from appetizers to dessert. Recommended!

05/11/2025: A pleasant and surprisingly thoughtful lunch. Safe and Sound is one of those places that doesn't just aim to "satisfy your hunger quickly," but to give you the feeling that someone has really thought about what you're eating. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and relaxing. The pace is right. And above all: you can sense a focus on quality without flaunting it. The dishes arrive balanced, beautifully plated, without heavy or redundant execution. Here, the focus is on clean flavors, clarity of ingredients, and an approach that respects what you eat without overdoing it. And this is a rare commodity at lunch. The service was one of the most convincing points: helpful, quick when needed, but also very accommodating to specific requests. This isn't a given at lunchtime, where many places cut back on attention to detail. If I had to point out room for improvement (for cognitive honesty, not destructive criticism): some dishes could be a little more daring in their aromatic layering. There's no need for radical changes, just that final "click" that makes a dish memorable even in the memory. Overall, Safe and Sound is a place well worth a lunch break in Catanzaro Lido: solid, clean, well-managed, with a contemporary identity. And with a little more attention to the fine sensory details... it could become one of those places you'd recommend without even having to argue.

04/09/2025: What can I say? While I was looking for a place to eat fish and chips because my partner is English, I stumbled upon this little gem. The place is delightful, the music is great, the food is delicious, and the food is truly beautifully presented. Mediterranean flavors revisited in an innovative way. A wonderful surprise. We come to Catanzaro every year, and we'll definitely be back; it'll be one of our favorite destinations. Thank you so much!

24/10/2025: The meat was cooked to perfection! The flavor was excellent too! We had the Angus stew with porcini mushrooms, the Angus arrosticini, the hamburger, and the grilled meat... delicious... I would definitely go back!

07/10/2025: I went with my wife and son in September for dinner in the ancient cave. The seafood appetizer smelled bad and tasted nothing like seafood. The octopus was transparent and smelled bad—you couldn't tell it was octopus carpaccio; it was literally transparent, like tissue paper. The rest was anything but anything that reminded you of the sea. Everything was frozen and poorly treated. Parmigiana was the sore point!! It wasn't parmigiana, but a mixture of boiled eggs drowned in tomato sauce. I don't think they even know what eggplant parmigiana is; there were only boiled eggs. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me; it was a TERRIBLE experience that's hard to undo. They have no idea what Italian or Calabrian cuisine is. What a shame! These people were improvised and had never worked in a kitchen!

25/10/2025: We're regulars every Saturday, and the pinsa is better every time. The quality is very high at truly fair prices. All the staff are truly friendly, starting with Francesco, the owner, the very sweet Ivana, and Francesco's wonderful father, who plays a key role in our lives with his delicious cherry tomatoes picked from his garden!
