It was one of those scorching, still-airy evenings... so many people in the dining room and waiting, but the lady who welcomed us, with elegance and calm, quickly found us a table, suggesting a quiet spot inside. Heartfelt compliments to an excellent hostess, capable of combining class and promptness. Bravo!

09/08/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A beautiful, typically Italian restaurant tucked away on a small, hidden side street in Capoliveri. 🇮🇹 The food was excellent and authentically Italian. The ambiance was lovely and typical of Tuscany, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was quick and professional. Highly recommended!

11/08/2026: We chose this restaurant based on numerous positive reviews and the menu published by the establishment itself two months ago, which listed four first courses (pici all'aglione, pici al ragù val d'Orcia, vegetarian ravioli, and tagliolini al tartufo). When we arrived, we were in for an unpleasant surprise! The menu had been halved to just two first courses: pici al sugo e stracciatella and trofie al pesto (and two second courses). This happens in the height of summer, mid-August. So, in addition to the limited options, all the typical dishes one would expect from a restaurant of this kind in a small village in the Val d'Orcia were removed. We were left with a bitter taste in our mouths, especially since the dishes we ordered were truly delicious, the ingredients were top-quality, and the waiters were attentive and kind.

10/08/2026: Spurred by the good reviews, we wanted to try Ristorante Daria, located in the beautiful village of Monticchiello. The restaurant is spacious and well-furnished, housed in an original building that has certainly been renovated, preserving the characteristic local atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available, but we prefer to sit inside where it's not too cool but at least we don't sweat. The staff at the entrance and serving are young, cheerful, and very helpful. They tell us it's the first night with a new menu, so we decide to offer some healthy and constructive criticism. The menu offers at least one vegan/vegetarian option for each course, and it's appreciable. We skip the appetizers, although they're inviting, and order the tagliolini with summer truffle and the pici with tomato, stracciatella, and basil sauce. The tagliolini with butter is delicious, blending well with the truffle, which, given the season, isn't particularly flavorful or fragrant, but overall it's a good choice. The pici are (in our opinion) designed to showcase the simplicity and naturalness of the tomato, basil, and stracciatella cheese, but they lack a hint of oomph that could make them more succulent. Next, we had the pork capocollo and the legume meatballs, which completely turned the dinner around. The capocollo was tender, flavorful, and very tasty, and the meatballs were a truly successful surprise in terms of taste and texture. Overall, the dinner was very good, and we appreciated that the staff appreciated our feedback on the experience. The bill was reasonable for the price.

16/07/2026: Absolutely fantastic! It was a pleasure to eat here in May 2026. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They also went the extra mile for our little daughter, which we greatly appreciated. There was a high chair available as well as a clean changing area, making us feel truly welcome as a family. The food was delicious, and the cozy location in the charming little street completed the experience perfectly. We will definitely be back here again!

Truly friendly staff, and a menu featuring mostly succulent, top-quality seafood. All accompanied by a good wine list. I'd also say the quality/price ratio is very good. I highly recommend it.

17/04/2026: My 13-year-old review needed updating to say that things have improved after all this time. A varied and imaginative menu that doesn't neglect Tuscan tradition. High-quality products, expertly and skillfully cooked, tasty yet delicate. Elisa is a thoughtful and kind hostess, as well as a first-rate chef. A well-stocked wine cellar and delicious desserts. Excellent value for money.

08/07/2026: This is our favourite place to visit in Lucca. We've been 4 times on two separate holidays and taken family there too who have loved it. Michael is such an amazing host, so welcoming and friendly, giving me and my dad Limonchello bottles for father's day and dealing with kids brilliantly. The restaurant has a real traditional rustic charm which is exactly what we look for in places to eat on holiday. The food is fantastic we had 2 courses each and everything was delicious and decent prices as well. Thank you for the amazing times.

18/07/2026: Peperosa was a wonderful discovery. Silvia is attentive to her customers and incredibly passionate about what she does. The menu is always varied, and the daily specials are worth the visit. The Peperosa appetizer is a must-try; the mixed mango gazpacho is a delight, as is the tartared amberjack, exquisite in its simplicity and garnish. The extremely positive review is rounded out by the wide selection of quality wines and the kitchen's homemade schiacciatine. The atmosphere is very quiet; this place deserves a more casual location, not for tourists (who I'm more than convinced would devour everything) but for Pisans seeking excellent cuisine and excellent service.

The dishes are delicious and beautifully presented, and the friendly sommelier can always recommend the perfect wine from hundreds of options. We tried both the meat and fish menus and were absolutely delighted. We're still debating whether the pasta vongole (with clams) or the truffle pasta was better... Regardless, you should definitely visit this enchanting restaurant and enjoy the golden evening hours on the lovely terrace. The price is unbeatable for such high quality.

I celebrated my birthday there a few months ago, and I must say it was a magnificent evening. My only regret was that the sommelier insisted on letting us taste some wine, which we, unfortunately, can't stomach. The dishes had so much personality, especially the egg, but everything was presented with great attention and care. We'll definitely be back.
