At Il Vecchio e il Mare, you can enjoy both excellent pizza and carefully prepared, high-quality dishes. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is extremely kind and helpful, instantly putting you at ease. One aspect I really appreciated was the relaxed atmosphere: you can spend the evening unhurriedly, enjoying time with friends without the usual anxiety of having to vacate a table. Excellent for both a dinner with friends and a more relaxed evening. Highly recommended!

We had fish appetizers, fish main courses, a seafood pizza, and dessert—all excellent, with fresh, high-quality ingredients and clearly homemade preparations. The tomato on the pizza really stood out, and even the olive oil was high-quality (a rare thing, a sign of great attention to ingredients). The dough was Neapolitan-style, well-executed. 27/03/2026: The restaurant enjoys a splendid location overlooking the sea; on clear days, you can admire the Tuscan islands and part of Corsica. However, the quality of the dishes often doesn't match the scenery. The service and coffee at the bar are excellent.

06/04/2026: The atmosphere is much calmer than in the nearby square. There were four of us, and we ordered pizzas, homemade spaghetti, and octopus: everything was delicious, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. The service was quick, and the staff were very friendly. All this for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it.

The staff is polite and attentive. The owner is truly kind and courteous. The food is simple but authentic and the combinations are imaginative. I highly recommend it! 07/04/2026: Overall, one of the best restaurants in the area. From appetizers to main courses, side dishes, and desserts, everything is balanced to perfection. The plating is also beautiful. Definitely recommended, whether you're looking for an alternative to Tuscan cuisine or simply want to go somewhere different.

04/04/2026: We've been in love for years. Discovered it by chance over 10 years ago. Delicious food, incredibly friendly staff, and there's even a grocery store attached. Every now and then, we travel from Liguria specifically to eat there and enjoy Montecatini center and Montecatini Alta, which is a little further away.

20/01/2026: I go there regularly when I go to pick up fish at the Volpi fishmonger's early in the morning. Very early in the morning, I meet an older man (I think the owner), who's very friendly and nice. The Valdostana is delicious, and here you can also find the real old Spuma Bionda.

26/12/2025: Christmas lunch set menu. Everything was excellent, from appetizer to dessert. The staff were knowledgeable and extremely friendly, the service was prompt, and the place was spotless. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

26/12/2025: Update December 2025: We celebrated Christmas here with our family. Service was excellent, and the food was excellent. Three seafood appetizers (see photo) cost €60 (paccheri with cherry tomatoes, scampi, clams, and lupini beans), mixed fried fish with anchovies and fried vegetables, and panettone with cream, water, wine, and coffee. It was sold out. Update 2025: Everything is always great at La Casina! --- We're regulars at this restaurant, and I can say it's an extremely good restaurant, especially for the price. The dishes are good and plentiful, and there's no cover charge. I recommend the tagliolini with lobster, the seafood sauté, and the cacciucco (fish stew). Located in the Viareggio pine forest, 200 meters from the sea, it offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with air conditioning. During high season, it's better to reach it by bike than by car due to the lack of parking in the area (free parking nearby from 1-3 PM and after 8 PM). They often offer a free after-dinner drink at the end of the meal. - August 2023. This year too, we've been to the local restaurant a couple of times, always top-notch. The seafood is good and plentiful, and there's a fixed-price menu available (4 appetizers, 2 first courses, fried food, and water, plus wine). The staff is friendly and helpful, and there's a wide variety of "ammazza caffè" (afternoon tea) for those like me who don't get the usual "amaro del Capo" (a bitter liqueur). Don't be put off by anyone who complains about slow service. The staff is always busy, but when there's a lot of people, you might have to wait, but that means you'll eat well!
