22/08/2025: We went with the whole family a few days ago. I'll start by saying I don't question the owners' commitment and effort, but the overall experience was a negative one. From sitting down to dinner, it took us about two and a half hours. People who sat down much later had already eaten and digested. The quality is average to low and certainly not in line with the prices. I understand you're in the center of Ortigia, but if you charge me those prices, I expect impeccable service and a larger portion. This is not a place I'd recommend.

21/08/2025: Over an hour of waiting for three ridiculously small plates of pasta, served in a nearly empty restaurant: it takes a special talent to manage to keep you waiting so long for so little. We paid for a meal, we got an appetizer. If the goal was to test our patience and our empty stomachs, mission accomplished.

17/08/2025: We went for dinner last night. The service was excellent; the waiters were kind, friendly, and attentive. The fish appetizers were delicious (a bit pricey, but in line with the quality of the fish). The grilled fish main course was also very good. It was a shame about the first course and the dessert. The spaghetti with clams was tasteless; perhaps it wasn't mixed well enough, but it tasted like plain spaghetti with clams on the side. It's a shame because the cooking and quality of the spaghetti were excellent. The dessert, on the other hand (a deconstructed cannoli with ricotta, capers, and lemon) was definitely not worth the €12 price tag. It was very stringy, perhaps because of the gelatine, but it wasn't to my liking (perhaps just my personal taste). Overall, it's a restaurant with great potential, and with a few more tweaks to the kitchen, it could be a top-notch restaurant. I would recommend not setting the prices for desserts or side dishes so high. The risk is that it would come across as overly pretentious, setting high expectations that might not be met.

15/08/2025: Unfortunately, this year was terrible. Chef Gianluca was good, he brought a good name and good dishes, but by changing chefs and keeping the same dishes, the result is clear. Less than inadequate. P.S.: Customers don't argue :) If I say there's NO citrus fruit in my dish (and I eat the dish, not the waiter), you can't tell me it's not true. If the menu says spaghetti with shrimp AND citrus fruit, citrus fruit MUST BE there. Last but not least, the pasta seemed precooked. Change chefs or lower the prices.

08/09/2025: Unfortunately, only half of the cat's food was available; there were no vegetables, no porcini mushrooms, and no scampi left that day, which is a shame because it limits the options. However, the food was good.

24/08/2025: Rustic atmosphere, really well done. Menu from €18 for adults + €10 for children (same as the large menu). Pizza selection + appetizers + drinks + wine + sodas, water + coffee + Zubibbu wine. All good food. Acceptable wait times. Music and karaoke (fortunately far away). I've seen many negative reviews on some sites, which honestly don't reflect reality. Service (not all), but some were rude, but that can be overlooked. Perhaps due to a lack of dough or a faulty oven, pasta dishes were served instead of pizzas (only a few pizzas arrived, so not a true Firo Pizza). Would I go again? YES. Because it's a worthwhile place.

03/06/2025: Negative experience because even though I booked well in advance, I was given a room with inferior features to what I booked and when I asked to have another room as a replacement, even though there was availability, I was asked for an additional payment. Shocking.

17/06/2025: We went there on a Sunday for lunch and what can I say? A classic place with home-made stuff.

11/08/2025: I've been there before, and it was superior, but this time it was very disappointing, considering that the quality should be better in the evening. The prawns couldn't be peeled, they were inedible. Very disappointing in all the courses. 15 oysters arrived, all taken by one person. For 24.90 per person, the contents were paltry, not even 10 euros per person. I hope it was an unfortunate accident, but if these are the conditions, I will never go there again.

01/08/2025: We celebrated our son's baptism and first birthday. The venue was worthy and suitable. Unfortunately, the service wasn't up to par. As I've read in other reviews, I can confirm several negative aspects, such as guests' requests for missing dishes and plates, which only arrive after a prompt response. In our case, some items previously agreed upon were not fully provided. Chairs were missing, and I was forced to request them even though seating had been agreed upon in advance (despite it being a buffet). There were supposed to be decorations at the entrance that were completely missing. The favors for the cake table were instead placed behind the bar, when we should have found everything set up (this was also agreed upon in advance). Some courses were generous, while others were, to say the least, "limited," which makes me pause, because I'm not naive (pointing to the guests' "over-eagerness" as an excuse, something that is literally unheard of, and not true). I emphasize the owner's helpfulness, but unfortunately, it doesn't make up for the shortcomings I noted, and I should point out, very regrettably, that several guests also pointed them out to me. We definitely won't be returning.

29/06/2025: I celebrated my son's 18th birthday and everything was perfect. I thank the hostess and the catering for their professionalism and kindness.

18/08/2025: I received a review notice from my daughter for the best Pasta alla Norma I've ever eaten. I, who am the father and have been cooking for 40 years, was put aside by her for telling me that this one she ate was better than mine at least 10 times. Does that mean I'm a bad cook? No, it's simply because La Scala makes an exceptional Pasta alla Norma and I know my daughter is a great foodie! Thanks guys, my little girl is happy tonight! I'll come visit you as soon as possible.

19/08/2025: We had a really nice meal. Good quality food, excellent local wine and not to big portions, so you can manage three courses 😉. And the service was very professional and nice!

16/07/2025: Typical, homemade cuisine, everything very good, tasty, and plentiful. Takeaway is also very satisfying.

29/08/2025: I had a decaf and a cream croissant. Drinking the decaf was like drinking dirty water... how can you serve a coffee like that? Not to mention the spoon to stir the coffee was all caked on. I think some bars in Messina should close down by now. I don't recommend it.

07/09/2025: Pasta with salmon and buffalo with tomatoes—the food was delicious and well-balanced. The pistachio ice cream deserves 5 stars! Delicious!

05/09/2025: 2 stars because the beach is beautiful and the loungers are relatively inexpensive at €10 each. I recommend that everyone NOT eat at the restaurant. We each had a lasagna for €14, which tasted stale. On top of that, there were boiled eggs scattered throughout the lasagna. Not just one or two slices, but everything was covered in eggs. The service was at least not unfriendly, but after a relatively sober take of our order, communication was practically broken, and we were kept waiting for a long time.

01/07/2025: We ate here almost every night of our vacation. The food was always delicious, and there was a nice selection of fresh fish. We'd go back anytime!

01/09/2025: I gave one because I can't give zero... the main thing to be able to continue in a business like this is COURTESY... yesterday for the summer carnival evening all the places were packed and walking around we noticed that this little restaurant had almost all the tables empty (now I understand why), we asked for a table for 12 and the very kind waiter tried to accommodate us since the place is small, the lady after making us wait turns around and says I'm sorry I can't seat you, there are too many of you 🤨, obviously we were shocked also because I repeat that the place was empty. She could also offer us two tables next to each other. Instead the lady tells us she can't accommodate us and very arrogantly turns her back and walks away leaving us on the edge of the door... obviously we wished her to close soon... because by sending twelve people away and behind us another 4 people left because of the rudeness of the lady, probably they don't work out of necessity but as a hobby.

25/08/2025: The food was truly delicious, everything was served very quickly, and the staff was extremely friendly. Highly recommended!
