17/01/2026: I had dinner with some friends at this restaurant in Lucca, very nicely decorated with Western-style furnishings. We had some appetizers and meat, which I think is their specialty...a Thomawhok, delicious in flavor and cooked as a steak should be cooked! Good food, a great place for socializing, and not cheap in price...let's say average!

25/10/2025: Delicious pizza, as well as their "sfizi" (delicacies), like Montanarine, fried and topped with seasonal ingredients. A unique atmosphere, nestled among the maritime pines, the staff is very friendly, and the service is fast. Definitely worth a try! Seasonal opening.

12/02/2026: TLDR; Tourist trap. Pushy staff, mediocre food, forced us to provide a review. Ordered appetizers, server suggestive alternatives. They were not great. Bland squash blossoms and a tomato and strachiatella with a very non-ripe tomato. Ordered a chianina femmina steak and pesto gnocchi for dinner, they suggested an alternative cut of beef. It was good. Gnocchi was not over the right texture, sort of gummy. At the end of the meal, they brought over nfc cards to tap for quick review access. It was fine but became pushy and they even tried to type the review on my phone. I’ve travelled enough to know a tourist trap when I see one, I left convinced this place has very few intentionally offered good reviews and lots of unsolicited forced on the patron reviews to bump their rating. A bummer to realize how rigged Google Maps reviews have become. My wife picked this place blindly based on them. Doubt we will blindly do that again. On a positive, the place is very dog friendly. Our two dogs were welcomed, they were given water, fed snacks.

14/01/2026: We visited L’Angolo Tondo on January 1st and had a truly wonderful experience. The service was exceptional – very attentive, warm, and dedicated. We especially appreciated that the staff took the time to explain the menu and their recommendations to us perfectly in English. We were a group of four adults with a baby in a stroller, and they were incredibly accommodating. They actively helped us choose a table, ensuring we had plenty of space and felt comfortable at all times. The food was excellent: We opted for the chef's five-course tasting menu, which we absolutely loved. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented – a true culinary delight. We will definitely return as soon as we are back in Lucca and wholeheartedly recommend L’Angolo Tondo.

30/12/2025: We chose this restaurant on a beautiful Sunday in November, inspired by the numerous positive reviews, and I must say we were completely satisfied! We sat in the second room, more modern and welcoming than the entrance, and immediately appreciated the elegant yet unpretentious atmosphere and the kindness of the staff. Pappardelle with wild boar ragù, fried porcini mushrooms, a delicious roasted porcini mushroom cap, and the inevitable steak! A good red wine accompanied it, and a cream-filled millefeuille for dessert. What can I say... it was an absolutely satisfying lunch. We waited a bit for the meat, probably because the place was crowded, but it was absolutely worth it: quality produce, cooked properly, and beautifully presented... Excellent! The pappardelle with wild boar thrilled the kids, and the mushrooms were the icing on the cake of a lunch that simply leaves you wanting more. Considering the quality of the product, the bill seemed fair for what we ordered. Parking might be a bit difficult along the road that runs through this small corner of Nievole; I'd recommend arriving 10 minutes before rush hour. Otherwise, "Il Pellegrino" keeps all its promises and offers customers a totally positive experience! Top marks!

01/02/2026: We had lunch here on our way back from skiing. We stopped because of the excellent reviews. Our lunch confirmed them all. The food was delicious, with a varied and beautifully presented menu. Excellent quality. The dessert (basket with mascarpone and brownies) was wonderful. Special mention for the service provided by the two waiters. We will definitely be back!
