12/05/2026: We went to the old port without a reservation; it was a Monday and there wasn't a lot of people. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the very kind waiters. The owner took our orders very courteously and hospitable. We were served an excellent welcome appetizer (a sort of deconstructed eggplant parmigiana). We ordered two hot mixed appetizers, each consisting of three appetizer courses. The portions aren't huge, but they're very fresh and flavorful. They're generous with delicious sauces, which, however, are recurring throughout the courses. For our second course, we ordered the catch of the day cooked on a salt stone (from the various fish available, we chose a slice of swordfish and amberjack fillet). The fish was very well cooked and very fresh. The bread was also very good and warm! For dessert, we ordered a ricotta mille-feuille and a lemon sorbet. Both were good, perhaps a little too sweet... but that depends on your taste :) Overall, a great experience. I found the bill a little expensive, above average, but the quality of the fish was definitely there! I recommend you try it :)

We ordered the Apericena mari e monti (sea and mountain aperitif), where every bite (a generous amount, I'd say) was truly excellent, from fish to meat. It was accompanied by a gin and tonic, featuring a selection of gins and tonics that are not at all easy or predictable to find elsewhere—DELIGHTFUL. The background music and atmosphere of the place made you truly appreciate the moment. The icing on the cake? Valeria, who delighted us with impeccable and friendly service, truly makes all the difference for an evening of fun and relaxation. Thank you! We will definitely be back.

My husband is still raving about how wonderful the Strangozzi al profumo di mare (fresh spaghetti with mixed seafood) was - incredibly fresh pasta and a great range of seafood in a delicious sauce. Large portions and served with bread (in a paper bag). I had the linguine with prawns and pistachio which was tasty. Local wine was easy drinking.

19/10/2025: “Incipit” is almost a hidden gem, tucked away from the busy High Street and tourist-heavy areas. This spot comes highly recommended by locals — and for good reason. It has a gorgeous outdoor terrace with views over the piazza, but the real wow factor comes when you choose to dine indoors… in the cave! Yes, a beautifully lit, cosy cave with an incredible atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel special. The service was exceptional — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The menu is fantastic, offering a perfect mix of local favourites and creative twists. We went all out and enjoyed the full experience: antipasto, primo, and secondo. The tuna tartare was outstanding, bursting with freshness and flavour. I had the Fileja al ’Nduja ragu, which was absolutely mind-blowing — and high on my Calabria culinary wish list. My partner chose the hazelnut risotto, which was equally exceptional. For mains, I had the pistachio-crusted seabass while my partner had the cod — both dishes beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended if you want an authentic, high-quality dining experience away from the tourist traps. Grazie mille per il fantastico servizio 🙏👌👏

15/04/2026: We had dinner at this trattoria on Saturday evening, my husband, I, and our two children, ages 9 and 12. The staff was fantastic: friendly, welcoming, kind, and extremely helpful. The atmosphere was very informal and easy-going, just like a trattoria. But the trattoria-like characteristics stop there, in the sense that the quality of the fish, the presentation of the dishes, and their deliciousness are those of a true restaurant! They offer dishes based on the catch of the day, a guarantee of the freshest fish! We had their antipasto: ENDLESS! Cold, hot, and even raw dishes. Everything was exceptional! We had two appetizers that we shared with the kids, but those were already practically full. So many different but original, tasty, and excellent quality courses! Then we had two spaghetti agli scogli, one spaghetti with crab (the crab is caught alive from the aquarium!!), and swordfish rolls! They looked truly excellent, and the beautiful appearance confirmed the taste. Everything was exceptional, you could taste the fish was incredibly fresh, it melted in your mouth!!! And the portions were truly generous!!! And the price was truly competitive: 2 complete appetizers, 3 first courses, 1 second course, wine, water, and 2 sorbets for €120!!!! For what we ate, both in terms of quality and quantity, I assure you, it was really cheap! Really, congratulations!!!!! I've already recommended it to all my friends!!!

07/10/2025: I went with my wife and son in September for dinner in the ancient cave. The seafood appetizer smelled bad and tasted nothing like seafood. The octopus was transparent and smelled bad—you couldn't tell it was octopus carpaccio; it was literally transparent, like tissue paper. The rest was anything but anything that reminded you of the sea. Everything was frozen and poorly treated. Parmigiana was the sore point!! It wasn't parmigiana, but a mixture of boiled eggs drowned in tomato sauce. I don't think they even know what eggplant parmigiana is; there were only boiled eggs. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me; it was a TERRIBLE experience that's hard to undo. They have no idea what Italian or Calabrian cuisine is. What a shame! These people were improvised and had never worked in a kitchen!

27/04/2026: We had lunch at this superb restaurant. The chef cooks sublimely. The owners and all the staff are incredibly kind. We started with the appetizer, a very fresh raw ham. A first course expertly and imaginatively combined, not the usual spaghetti allo scoglio, but something much tastier and more elegant. The second course was octopus on a bed of mashed potatoes. To finish, a homemade semifreddo dessert with seasonal strawberries. We'll be back.
