La Capanna In

Even if it means a 100km detour, don't hesitate, it's worth it. Top-notch cuisine, a welcoming owner, and a superb view of Mount Etna.

We had lunch at La Capanna. Since it was a weekend, it was quite busy, but we managed to get a table indoors with a sea view. We were served a delicious welcome entree. We ordered two hot appetizers, a raw fish appetizer (perhaps a little pricey at €32, but very generous, all fresh and delicious), a seafood risotto, and then two mixed fried fish dishes, spaghetti with sea urchins, and a couscous and scampi millefeuille (super tasty). The service was courteous and efficient, and all the dishes were excellent. The bill was very fair; I definitely recommend trying it!

Each dish speaks of the sea, with clean, balanced flavors that are respectful of the ingredients. A stunning location, directly on the sea, attentive and genuine service, and a relaxing and authentic atmosphere. A place you'll want to return to because you always know what to expect: quality, transparency, and a love of seafood. Highly recommended for those who don't like frills, but seek substance, freshness, and authenticity.

It's no coincidence that Italian cuisine is ranked number one. What they conjure up on the table here is sensational. The service is also top-notch, and the chef's unobtrusive manner is very pleasant. Don't let the surroundings fool you or put you off. It was a delight.

The restaurant's strong point is undoubtedly the raw fish, which is fresh and well-prepared. Otherwise, however, the experience was rather bland in flavor, lacking any particular flair. The fried calamari was unimpressive, coming out a bit rubbery. The bill seemed a bit high, especially considering both the location and the overall quality of the dishes. Overall, a decent experience, with some positives, but room for improvement, especially in the cuisine.
