The Life Bistrot - Plant Based Restaurant - Archaeological Site

08/06/2026: We went here to eat because of the many very good reviews. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Anyone who has ever eaten a proper vegan meal (e.g., in a big city) knows that this restaurant can't compete. I had an appetizer that was completely tasteless. The main course was okay, but nothing special. And for that, it was simply too expensive. Yes, they probably use high-quality ingredients, but then they need to season them better. The service was inconsistent. One waiter was overly friendly, while the other had to be reminded that we wanted the menu. If I weren't vegan, I wouldn't eat here.

31/05/2026: We had lunch at this delightful restaurant. Excellent food, impeccable service, and a beautiful location just steps from the Cathedral. They were truly kind, even to my little nephew. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

05/04/2026: We ordered the tasting menu, and the food was absolutely not worth the price. All the dishes were flavorless, and the portions were tiny. The flavors overall didn't seem to pair very well. We left the restaurant still hungry and not satisfied with our meal. It's incredible that it's been on the Michelin list for so many years in a row.
The city is pretty, and there are definitely better options.

Foreign staff who don't speak Italian.
They didn't even issue a receipt! Paid based on a pre-bill... I realized it too late, otherwise I would have forced them to issue one!
31/05/2026: Disappointing experience. We're in Italy, and none of the staff spoke Italian, making it very difficult to even order because the waiter couldn't understand our requests.
The food was average, nothing special or noteworthy.
The worst part came when we got the bill: the owner, who also didn't speak Italian, split the total incorrectly, overcharging us, calculating the division by 6 people instead of 7. Nora, positive, beautiful location.
Overall, a negative experience. We won't be returning.

04/04/2026: It was a truly fantastic meal. The whole family was delighted with the quality of the food. The waiters were also very friendly and welcoming, explaining all the restaurant's specialties. The menu includes typical dishes not found elsewhere. The sweet and spicy wild boar was superb!! We highly recommend it!!!
02/04/2026: I was out with my girlfriend, riding my motorcycle, and we chose this place to eat because it was close to where we'd parked our bike. The place is very welcoming, with an old-fashioned style that fits in well with the town. The waiter was very kind in explaining the tavern's typical and unique dishes and wines, which are what we ordered, and we didn't regret it. Terrine as an appetizer, along with fried artichokes, followed by Etruscan-style pici and sweet and sour wild boar—unusual dishes that absolutely must be tried. If you're passing through Volterra, I recommend stopping by. Since it's a unique menu, it's a little more expensive than usual, but that's to be expected, and it's worth it.

10/06/2026: This tiny pizzeria has been around since I was little, with a uniquely flavorful dough, and after more than 40 years, nothing has changed.
Excellent pizza, kind and friendly owners.
For us, it's a world heritage site.

07/06/2026: The service was smooth and fast. But the food portions could be bigger and tastier. The place has no atmosphere at all. Could use some music. The toilets are in a pretty secluded place. Not worth €60.

06/05/2026: Very nice place on a rainy day. The pizzas were delicious. I had to get my own olive oil, but when you add a little olive oil to the pizza, it becomes - mama mia. The only remark - when you eat a little, they try to tell you that it's time to go, not to linger too long, which is annoying. But everything else was very good.
01/05/2026: The food was good and the wine was suggested well by staff (although I later found out that having wine with Pizza was wasn't typical for Italians!)
The service was fair, the staff were reasonably attentive. They did a good job of helping us select food and drink.
Atmosphere was nice! We sat outside but it wasn't tight like many of the places you can eat outside in Volterra. So you didn't feel cramped while you dine.

12/05/2026: We ordered two pizzas. One tasted like a carelessly made frozen pizza, and the vegetarian one was just pizza bread with completely unseasoned vegetables and absolutely no flavor. The pizzas were remarkably bad.
03/05/2026: Excellent pan pizza! We've been enjoying it for 40 years, and it's always been a must-try on our beach weekends!
