10/07/2025: La Bettola – an authentic gem Here, cooking is a true art. The chef works only with quality ingredients, uncompromisingly, and the results are evident. The red prawns are simply the best I've ever eaten. The seafood spaghetti is excellent, intense and balanced. The appetizers are also excellent, including the grilled prawns and a dessert finale that is a harmonious explosion of flavors. The Sirah...? An elegant wine, perfect to pair with everything. We tried a red, but it went very well. Attentive service, authentic atmosphere. An experience to remember.

05/07/2025: It's the first time I've been to this very well-known place in Mazara. At the entrance we were welcomed and seated at the table, the dishes are very good and tasty and above all FRESH (the shellfish crudite has the authentic taste of the sea), the only comment on the composition of the dish is a bit "old". The place is air conditioned so it's more than fine with the excessive temperatures outside. The place also presents itself as classic, for my tastes a bit old. Excellent choice of wines even if two strong wineries such as GazzeRosse and Cantina Chitarra were missing. It is certainly a very classy place where we had a good time.

09/07/2025: Wow. Run, don’t walk, to try the Caponata Siciliana! The husband and wife (owners) were very attentive and helpful with our various allergies and dietary restrictions. I’m celiac and have a dairy allergy, and the other guest is vegan. Everything was wonderful. They are also open at a time when most places are closed. (Pro-tip: they have an indoor area with AC!)

07/06/2025: Nice place, welcoming place. The waiter Michele was very kind. The pizzas we chose were excellent. The only flaw was the children running around and screaming, very annoying for those who would like to spend a quiet evening.

27/04/2025: Avevo sentito parlare da amici di questo locale e nel mio immaginario pensavo a una trattoria ubicata in un edificio storico di una località agricola. Mi sbagliavo in quanto il ristorante è costituito da una grande sala e da una più piccola che funge da ingresso. Purtroppo in un ambiente così concepito, quando il locale è pieno (e pare ciò sia ricorrente) vi sono problemi di insonorizzazione. Per il resto il locale ha soddisfatto le aspettative: - ottima qualità del cibo e buona cucina; - servizio soddisfacente sebbene il locale fosse pieno e in un giorno festivo (25 aprile); - molta attenzione alle esigenze dei clienti (cibo senza glutine e senza formaggio); - ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Sicuramente ci tornerò e, possibilmente, concorderò i piatti tipici di stagione.

05/07/2025: We walked in super late with no reservations and the son of the owner seated us in, the father took our order, a young lady served us food and the mother cleaned our table. All 4 was working the restaurant like clockwork. We were amazed! The ambience was great, the food was excellent and the price was reasonable. We came out well fed, content and just like in a happy home, left to go wondering the city again happy and energized. For a party of 3 with 2 glasses of wine, a soda for my daughter, appetizer (mussel soup - it was so good I forgot the take a photo. Only when we finished it 😋), 2 steak plates and a mussel soup pasta we paid 77 euros. I think this is a reasonable price. 10/10 in our book.

04/07/2025: We went there for dinner as a couple. The trattoria is located in a basement and is beautifully cozy and air-conditioned. We couldn't see any outdoor tables. We were assigned a small table for two people in the back of the restaurant. Unfortunately, we felt the table was too small. The food we ordered was delicious. The service, however, could have been much friendlier. Apart from the chef, the staff wasn't particularly friendly, which was a shame. Hence only 3 stars for the service!

05/07/2025: Let me set the scene: it’s 19:30 on a warm June evening, the kind where the sky melts into gold, a breeze wraps around you like a silk scarf, and swallows swoop through the air like they were choreographed just for your arrival. You take a tiny glass elevator to the top floor of the Grand Hotel Ortigia and boom—you step into one of the most elegant rooftop settings in Sicily. We had called just the day before to book and were lucky to find a spot (end of June = still doable, but I’d reserve ahead if you’re coming in high season). We were seated on the terrace—front-row seats to the most cinematic sunset over Ortigia, with boats drifting in the background and the sea stretching endlessly before us. The food? Let’s talk about that polpo. “Polpo doppia cottura su crema di patate” sounds poetic—and it is. Tender, rich, and the kind of dish you order as a secondo but secretly wish you could eat for every course. Then came the pasta: pistachio pesto and shelled clams swimming in a vibrant green sauce. Balanced, bright, and exactly what summer on a Sicilian rooftop should taste like. Service was very professional. We sat outside on the terrace, but there’s also refined indoor seating if the weather doesn’t play nice. We parked at Parcheggio Molo Sant’Antonio using EasyPark (about a 10-minute scenic walk along the lungomare) it’s large, easy, and feels like part of the experience. There may be closer options, but the stroll is worth it. Would I go again? In a heartbeat. And next time, I’m ordering dessert too.

29/06/2025: My son and I came for my birthday dinner. Service was grand. We were dressed casually with no problem. The grouper fish and the veal were very good as well as the steamed shrimp. Drinks were ridiculously priced. $20 for a mojito and $26 for a suggested italian gin and tonic. The views are amazing.

Osteria Rosso Divino delivered that and so much more. Tucked away on a charming side street, this beautiful restaurant had been highly recommended by our Italian travel agent. Even without a reservation, we were greeted with warm smiles and gracious hospitality, and seated right away—a gesture that instantly made us feel at home. Soon after, a lovely woman approached our table with the kind of warmth and enthusiasm that can’t be faked. She carefully walked us through the day’s offerings, painting each dish with such vivid detail and passion that we found ourselves hanging on every word. We ultimately chose the fresh red snapper—expertly prepared two ways. One half was dressed with golden toasted breadcrumbs and a delicate hint of orange citrus; the other was served Sicilian-style with olives, sweet raisins, sun-ripened tomatoes, and fresh aromatic herbs. The result? Absolute perfection. Each bite told a story—of sea, sun, and tradition. The flavors were bold yet balanced, deeply rooted in local heritage but executed with a level of finesse that spoke to true culinary artistry. To our surprise and delight, we later discovered that the woman who had so eloquently described the menu was in fact the owner. That revelation added an extra layer of heart to an already beautiful evening. It’s rare to feel such an authentic connection to a place while dining, but this was one of those rare, magical moments. 06/07/2025: A very good experience overall. The setting is pretty although the lack of a breeze and the nearby smokers (ubiquitous in Italian outdoor dining of course) detracted somewhat. The service was very good and the food was excellent, as expected. The quality matched the prices. Would go back.
