15/11/2025: The service was completely against their will. The wine we ordered wasn't available, and when we asked for a suitable alternative, it was too much to ask. Silence from them. We chose something else and were given a mini glass. When we paid, they asked for cash, and when we told them we didn't have any, they grumbled and asked for our bank card. Despite the other positive reviews we saw, I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS.

13/11/2025: Service was pretty slow despite them not being busy. It was about 9pm and there was no line to get in. We were also sat in the back of a cramped corner of the middle room despite there being several tables open in other areas that seemed more spacious. At one point it even felt like we were purposely being ignored since an Italian couple who sat down 10 minutes after us were seated next to the lady making the fresh pasta and had their order taken within 3 min and even got their food served before the waiter could even get to us. When we finally had our order taken after 15 min of waiting, the attitude of our waiter seemed pretty off as well. It felt like he didn’t want us there at all. As for the food, we started off with red wine and their caprese which was good. We also had the carbonara since that’s what was recommended but it just tasted wayyyyy too salty and the pasta seemed undercooked. And I’m someone who likes to add salt to everything too. I’ve read the restaurant’s responses to other reviewers who has the same criticism on TripAdvisor and they’ve kept responding that “Roman food is typically salty” so take that as you will with a grain of salt (haha). Just wanted to let anyone know in case they felt the same way about the taste. They also mentioned in their other responses to other reviews that we could have returned our dishes to have it remade but we didn’t want to seem rude. We also got tiramisu which was surprisingly my favorite dish from the restaurant. I went up to the cashier to pay but was just left standing awkwardly for an extended period of time as the cashier was busy making small talk to her coworkers despite the restaurant no longer being busy at that point. I mean like only 2-3 tables still eating and 5 workers crowded in the main room just hanging out while I’m waiting to pay. Could just be a cultural difference so idk but it’s something to keep in mind for anyone reading this. Overall, pretty mid compared to my expectations with all the hype I’ve seen and food was okay. We had high expectations due to the recommendations from social media so I’m not sure if their quality went down due to them being trendy lately. I honestly didn’t even know they had that whole gimmick with the lady making fresh pasta at the front but I’m sure that’s part of the reason why this place is famous. Fyi: don’t trust the palettes of food reviewers from reddit or tiktok lol

08/10/2025: The Rigatoni Carbonara was simply a masterpiece – so incredibly creamy, harmonious, and full of flavor that I'm at a loss for words. From the very first bite, it was clear: this isn't just plain pasta – it's pure magic on a plate. The aroma, the texture, the flavor – everything perfectly balanced. The pecorino melted with the velvety egg yolk to create a sauce that wrapped itself around the rigatoni like silk, while the guanciale, with its delicate seasoning, enhanced every bite. I had to close my eyes to truly experience this moment – ​​it was so heavenly, intense, and perfect. The service and ambiance were also outstanding – warm, professional, and simply a place where you feel at home. But the focus is clearly on this dreamy Rigatoni Carbonara, which you simply have to try at least once in your life. A culinary experience you'll never forget – simply divine and absolutely recommended!

08/11/2025: We had a wonderful dinner at Il Gabriello years ago and always wanted to return. I finally visited again a couple of days ago and had another amazing meal. The quality of both the food and the service is truly top-notch. I was delighted to see the same family still running the restaurant — the father, mother, and daughter are all incredibly kind and welcoming. The food is Michelin-quality in both taste and presentation; you can genuinely feel their passion for what they do. I ordered the salted cod as an appetizer, black spaghetti with seafood for my first course, and grilled calamari for the second course — every dish was absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back to Il Gabriello whenever I’m in Rome!

06/11/2025: My parents and I chose Il Gabriello for dinner during our week in Rome as it had good reviews, a convenient location, and my father is a fan of excellent seafood. We had no idea we were about to have one of the best meals of our lives. We had the tuna tartare, the shrimp with potato, tomato and onion, the langoustine pasta and one of the specials, a gorgeous, delicate dish of blue lobster, burrata and peach. My father asked the sommelier to choose a white wine for us and he chose the most beautiful sweet and fragrant wine (I know nothing about wine so I have no idea what it was, but we all loved it). Every dish was delicious, prepared perfectly, with clear love and care in each bite. The ingredients were incredible quality. I wish I’d thought to take photos of the food but we were too busy enjoying it! The restaurant is family-run; we were served by mother and daughter, while the father ran the kitchen, and a cousin was also on the floor. No wonder the atmosphere was so warm, lovely and inviting. The service was just so perfect. The dining room was completely full and it seemed as though everyone else was enjoying their meal as much as we were! Honestly, this place is a crown jewel of the Centro area. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful meal in Rome. We will absolutely be back!

28/10/2025: I had a wonderful calamari dish, amazing and very generous! The spaghetti with clams was also very good. I also really appreciated the waitress's hospitality and the value for money. With a 20% discount, the price was fantastic! If I may offer just one constructive and easily resolvable piece of advice... it's really hot in the dining room. Perhaps it would have been better to sit outside now that the days are still gorgeous, or somewhere with a little more ventilation. 🤗 Excellent experience. 16/11/2025: It was truly an unforgettable experience. The restaurant is elegant and welcoming. Meticulous attention to detail. The menu is extensive, and the only flaw is the sheer choice—I could have tried everything! I enjoyed every course, both in presentation and flavor. The service was impeccable, too. The waiters were attentive and discreet. A special mention goes to Gabriele, who was truly professional and extremely kind. Highly recommended for those who love refined food and an atmosphere I'd describe as being from another era.

We went back the next day... We had dinner one evening in mid-November on the terrace with heated patio heaters (in Italy, that's still allowed; they know how to live in that country!).

A special mention goes to Antonello, the soul of the restaurant, a true enthusiast, friendly, professional, and always ready to recommend the dish of the day. The restaurant is located near Villa Doria Pamphili, about 750 meters from the Baldo Degli Ubaldi metro station. There is no private parking, and it can often take a while to find a spot on the street.

The place is suitable for both locals and tourists. In the evening, you can dine outside; at lunchtime, this is usually not possible due to the hot weather. The wait for your order wasn't long, but at least the first courses were served fairly quickly. The restaurant is not located in the most colorful area of ​​Rome, but still, the level of service is very good.

07/11/2025: The owner was friendly and welcoming! It's a lovely restaurant. We had lunch outside, watching the swans and ducks below us. We also had hamburgers (which annoyed the waiter, who resentfully said, "You're coming to the lake and you want meat?!").
