06/05/2026: Entering Ristorante Montenero isn't simply sitting at a table; it's crossing the threshold of a temple dedicated to the senses, a refuge where cuisine becomes poetry and the land transforms into spirit.
More than a restaurant, I would call Montenero a true Osteria del Cuore.
It's one of those rare places, an absolute certainty in an often overly constructed gastronomic world.
Here you won't find frills or distractions: everything is essential, direct, and honest, exactly as any place should be where the primary goal is one: to eat and drink WELL.
It's a wonderful place made up of exceptional and special people.
Incredible elements and synergies of flavor are the best you could wish for.
All these elements are brought to life by the heart and soul of the incredible and incredibly talented Patron Chef Katia Trippanera.
She possesses an absolute, top-notch technique that allows her to work the ingredients like very few others, resulting in dishes that are beyond unique and incredibly flavorful, but above all...simple.
Her management is a tribute to patience and quality: here, service is entirely express, meaning every dish is created the moment you order it.
The expertly crafted ingredients, beyond perfection, blend seamlessly with the highest-quality raw materials, used with incredible skill.
The dishes intoxicate the palate and the senses...everything is a caress for the soul.
The cooking of the ingredients is sublime.
Here, cooking and drinking, rigorously traditional, are a true art, a journey through sight, smell, and taste, but above all through the feelings and emotions that the Chef, preparing unique dishes, evokes in those who enjoy them.
There is no such thing as pre-cooked or frozen; every ingredient exudes freshness and respect for nature's cycle.

Katia handles ingredients like rabbit, pheasant, pigeon, duck, wild boar, and the legendary wood pigeon with timeless mastery, enhancing their gamey flavors with impeccable cooking that preserves their juiciness and character.

The wine I choose, strictly red, is powerful and deep yet fresh, with aromas reminiscent of red fruit and a more than balanced alcohol content that blends harmoniously with the delicate flavors, enhancing their flavors both on entry and at the end of the mouth.

Since I moved to Amelia, this place has become my refuge: a safe haven for those who, like me, seek substance, the true essence of food, and the truth on the plate.

05/05/2026: Yesterday we had the pleasure of lunch at Ristorante Montenero, a true gem in the Amelia countryside, which this year celebrates an extraordinary milestone: 100 years in business, since 1926.
A family-run trattoria that has successfully reinvented itself in its hospitality without ever betraying its soul: that of authentic Umbrian tradition. Dishes that tell a story of authentic flavors and passion, such as the hearty and authentic handmade fettuccine with ragù, game, pan-fried chicken, stewed mutton, and coratella (a kind of lamb cutlet). All prepared with local produce and the highest-quality ingredients.
But beyond the cuisine, what truly strikes you is the atmosphere: a warm, family-friendly environment where you immediately feel at home. One of those rare places that still retains the profound sense of time-honored hospitality.
My sincere congratulations to the entire staff for preserving and passing on such an important tradition. And best wishes again on this splendid centenary!

28/04/2026: We had dinner for the first time. We ate: scafata di fava beans; lamb and chicken; roast; chicory and radicchio. All accompanied by excellent red wine. The cooking was excellent and the ingredients were of high quality. We were served by Miss Sofia, who with her courtesy was able to satisfy our every request. The quality/price ratio was excellent. Welcoming location and family atmosphere.

27/04/2026: Good morning, I first arrived in 1992, then returned in 1993, then briefly in the early 2000s. Twenty years later, I returned with my entire family and found the hospitality to have grown exponentially; it was much more organized and captivating. It has certainly lost its initial spontaneity, the naturalness derived from the landscape and its agricultural vocation. But overall, it's still a "place of the heart," where affection and nostalgia lose their identity, blending together, leaving a great void when it's time to return to daily life! Kudos to those who care for this place, those who hold the fortunes of this "borgo" farm in their hands. There's no flaw, from the service to the cuisine, from the reception to the rooms, the friendliness, competence, and professionalism. A place to recommend with flying colors.

08/04/2026: We stayed for one night, it was a very good experience. I really can't complain about anything. The castle is such a cool location. And the food was extraordinary! We got the 5-course-menu. It was the best food we got during the whole vacation. They also pay attention to allergies or food preferences (like vegetarian or gluten free). As for the breakfast, there are so many choices. You can really feel that they still make an effort.

29/03/2026: The food was absolutely delicious. It was probably the best food I have had in months and I try a lot of different foods. The service was absolutely fantastic the waiters gave us water immediately and bread immediately, and they brought us our food within minutes. And finally the atmosphere. I can’t even describe how amazing it was, it was so delicious and scrumptious. I highly recommend coming here if you are in the area.
05/01/2026: We originally came to Charlie’s looking for pizza but accidentally arrived too early to get pizza. Regardless it was amazing, the vegetable soup was perfect for a cold day. My sister who has celiac, often making it difficult to find an enjoyable dining experience, was met with many options on the menu. She was even given gluten free crackers as an alternative for the bread the rest of us were given. We had many restrictions in our party aside from the celiac, including nut allergies and a vegetarian diet, all of which were accommodated to. The wine and espresso were both amazing and had great flavor. The service was excellent and our server was patient with us, providing us insight on the menu in English. This is most definitely somewhere I would recommend.

16/05/2026: A treat in the center of Gubbio. We ate excellent food in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful; they even went to get us gloves because it was pouring with rain and we were on our motorcycles.
If you want to eat well in a peaceful setting, this is the place.

14/05/2026: This welcoming restaurant is located in the historic center of a tiny village near Bevagna: Torre del Colle. The restaurant is housed in ancient rooms with large brick arches and wooden vaulted ceilings. It's charming. In one of these rooms, where tables are also set up, the kitchen opens up to a full view, where two undeniably talented chefs are at work, and you can watch them prepare the various courses. There's also an interesting wine display along the walls. You're greeted by the wait staff with smiles, kindness, and attentiveness—three important qualities that have become rare in large cities. The menu focuses primarily on seasonal products, fundamental elements of our culinary tradition. It's extremely difficult to recommend one dish over another, as they're all top-notch. In fact, you're spoiled for choice, thanks in part to the two chefs' interesting interpretations. The cheese puffs and the onion gratin with truffle are just a few of the appetizers to mention; Tagliatelle with asparagus and speck, and fusilli with white pork ragù and truffle, for the first courses; goat's cheese mousse with coccole and agretti, and the excellent meats, for the second courses. The wine cellar offers a significant number of excellent labels. To feel completely satisfied, you need to return several times to be sure of a good meal. Kudos to all the staff who run this restaurant. Finally, it's worth noting that the quality-price ratio is excellent.

The highly professional waiter is also excellent. The tasting menus are recommended for a taste of the traditional cuisine and homemade pasta; all dishes are a fantastic culinary experience. The wine list is well-stocked with local wines; we recommend the Boccatone, a top-quality wine. Highly recommended, but book in advance!
