25/02/2026: Great restaurant. The food was good, both the pizzas and the different pasta dishes (3 different options: mussels, swordfish, and classic). It was just a little noisy because the walls echoed. But the staff were very pleasant.

21/10/2025: The real deal! This is the type of small local restaurant we were expecting to find all around Sicily but you really have to search outside the main tourist area. It is very simple, but everything is fresh and freshly prepared from the fish you select from the giant tray the waiter brings around, to the just baked bread (not reheated) to the homemade pastas. You will be sitting in a real neighborhood with Italians and the waiter won’t speak English but the menu is translated. If you are a foodie this is the place you’ve been looking for. Prices great and you’ll wait a bit for the food-always a good sign that’s it’s not reheated. The night before we ate at a 3x more expensive place and the fish was not only frozen but overcooked.

30/01/2026: I've been to dinner several times, accompanying guests from the boat I worked on... the restaurant is worth it in every way... the view, the welcome, the professional, attentive, and friendly service... the carefully prepared dishes of an innovative cuisine that still maintains Aeolian and Sicilian traditions... the well-stocked wine cellar. You can also start the evening by booking an aperitif while admiring a spectacular sunset. The guests were enthusiastic and satisfied. We warmly thank all the staff who made our evenings relaxing and, above all, cheerful, always capable of providing a smile. PS: Book in advance... it's a very popular place.

26/02/2026: If you are visiting Catania, you CAN’T miss this place. I can’t forget how fresh the fish was and how tasty every dish was. Everything feels as if it’s cooked by your mum, in the most traditional and generous Sicilian way of cooking, where food is a true expression of love and caring. I’m looking forward to going back to my hometown and treating myself to Catania Ruffiana!

16/03/2026: Very good. A local restaurant with good value for money. The pasta is delicious, and the vegetable and meat side dishes are also tasty. However, you have to wait a long time.

08/03/2026: We waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Many customers who arrived after us got their food before us. At some point I asked if the food would be ready, the waitress said ”2 more minutes”, we still had to wait for 10-15 minutes more. I would not expect to wait for this long for a pasta dish during lunch time. I ordered Cacio e Pepe (9,50€) and Ravioli al Ragu (13€). The waitress kindly offered to add some shrimps to the Cacio e Pepe. The price was not written in the menu so she charged me 16€ for the Cacio e Pepe with small shrimps. I understand that the price would be more with shrimps but taking into account the prices of other dishes in the menu, I was a bit surprised. The food was good but unfortunately the portions were quite small.

12/03/2026: We came on vacation to Palermo with three children and dined here without a reservation. I have to say it was the place with the best service of the entire trip. The waiter was very kind from the start, even making the kids laugh a lot. The pizza was very good with a wide selection and arrived quickly (a big hit with the kids). Thanks for everything, guys!

I didn't like the sauce on my bruschetta with porcini mushrooms, so they replaced them, but I'd forgotten I'd ordered tagliatelle with porcini, and it was the same sauce, so... I didn't like that either. How embarrassing! And they changed that one too. I don't know of a restaurant that would have done that... Absolutely fantastic!

07/03/2026: Completely satisfied! We stumbled upon Trattoria La Piattino by chance. But it was a pleasant surprise. 10 overall: Food, hospitality, wide selection, tasteful decor! The owner and waiter were very kind, and the food was delicious. It will be our regular stop every time we come to Zafferana! ❤️

We dined there for the first time on Valentine's Day, and the menu was comprehensive, generous, and delicious. Excellent value, excellent service, and the staff were very polite, helpful, and attentive to every detail. The food was exquisite. I would gladly return.
