06/09/2025: Rude staff, the place was almost empty, and we had to wait an hour for a cutting board to be brought. After an hour, the cutting board arrived, and after 30 minutes of waiting for bread, which never arrived, we ate the cutting board without bread. It was disgusting, and we even paid the bill for the bread, even though we hadn't eaten it. The prices were too high, so I wouldn't recommend it. I'll never go there again. I give it 1 star, which is too much.

06/09/2025: High-quality appetizer platters, excellent bruschetta made with homemade ingredients. The Pinsa is also very good! Service and a friendly atmosphere. Recommended and worth a try!

06/08/2025: The hotel is right in the main square of Macugnaga. Alessandra, at the reception, was very friendly and, with a map in hand, informed us of all the possible excursions. Breakfast was excellent, everyone was kind and helpful, and the place was spotlessly clean! What can I say...we'll be back.

23/08/2025: If you want to enjoy authentic Piedmontese cuisine at reasonable prices, this is the place to go. The daily menu features a few dishes, all of which are homemade. We haven't found a better restaurant in our seven days at the lake. The trip up into the mountains is definitely worth it.

14/07/2025: We arrived at 8:15 pm, and that was the beginning of the end. The service was appalling, taking over 20 minutes for a server to come to our table to take our order. Once we placed our order, the food arrived quickly, thankfully because the restaurant wasn't full. However, it should be noted that the waitress grimaced as she served one of our dishes (lasagna Bolognese). Once we were finished, our dishes were decent but very simple: lasagna Bolognese and escalope Milanese. Being bon vivants, we wanted dessert. As a result, we left without it. Indeed, we had to wait to be relieved, and most importantly, no one paid any attention to us afterward. It was impossible to catch a server's eye for dessert or coffee since some were busy eating at the front of the restaurant with customers, others were deliberately ignoring us, and still others had disappeared. At the front of the restaurant, there's a bistro where people are standing, not very warm and welcoming, but with a sure-fire elbow bump. We got up and went to pay at the counter, since it was ultimately the only solution for the evening: to leave. We would have preferred never to set foot in there, and we certainly won't be back.

23/08/2025: We arrived, sat down, and were ignored by the waitress. Even when we tried to order something to eat in the hut, there was no response.

19/08/2025: When I made my reservation (as a former restaurateur, I don't go to a restaurant without booking in advance), I was a little hesitant when asked if I wanted to have lunch during the first or second sitting. I immediately pictured a somewhat chaotic place. We arrived and found parking in the designated area, which wasn't very large, I must say, but that's not their fault; it's already a good thing. They didn't give us much time to choose our dishes, since we were in the first sitting, but we arrived on time, so they seemed to be a bit thoughtful. For starters, we had a charcuterie board and a cheese wheel, both good and plentiful. The polenta vigezzina was superb, I must say; we left it aside because it was so plentiful. It could have been a main course, as far as our stomachs were concerned. The wine by the glass was decent, but we didn't have room for dessert. The price wasn't the cheapest, but it was quite reasonable. It's not a place where you can enjoy a good lunch in peace, given the crowd that was there, but the dishes were still good.

13/08/2025: Osteria del Mercante is a must-try in Santa Maria Maggiore. The food is exceptional, the staff is always very friendly and attentive, and the signature dish is tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms. Excellent value for money. Recommended!

22/08/2025: If you're looking for an excellent seafood restaurant in Stresa, Il Clandestino is a must-visit! The ingredients are top quality and the fish is incredibly fresh. We started with the yellowtail sashimi with Pantelleria capers and sea fennel, a true dive into the sea: the aromas alone take you to the shore, and the taste is simply outstanding. The other dishes maintained the same high standard of freshness and skill from the chef. For dessert, an exceptional tiramisu. The chef is the true captain of the restaurant, expertly guiding both the kitchen and the dining room. Prices are slightly on the high side but completely in line with the quality offered. Highly recommended! If you are looking for an excellent fish restaurant in Stresa, Il Clandestino is a must! The raw materials are of the highest quality and the fish extremely fresh. The first course, amberjack sashimi with Pantelleria capers and sea fennel, was a true dive into the sea: the aromas recall the shore, and the flavor was simply excellent. The other courses also confirmed the same standard of freshness and the chef's skill. To conclude, an exceptional tiramisu. The chef is the true captain of the restaurant, masterfully guiding both the kitchen and the dining room. Prices are slightly high, but absolutely in line with the quality offered. Highly recommended!

11/06/2025: Mediocre lunch considering that they served as a second course either ribs or meatballs, with a side of chips that were very hard and red because they had been refried several times given how they looked, the price was good

31/08/2025: We stayed half-board in a room with a private bathroom. Large rooms with a bathroom and a fantastic hot shower. Clean, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, furnished entirely in wood with a double bed and a bunk bed. We had a wonderful time. We also ate in their restaurant, where they also serve breakfast. Everything was perfect, with friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
