14/05/2025: Il locale è situato in una posizione strategica, nel centro di Somma e con una splendida vista sul Castello Visconteo. Siamo rimasti favorevolmente sorpresi dal menù, molto elaborato e ricco di proposte in grado di soddisfare tutti i palati. Il personale è gentile e attento senza però risultare invadente, nel complesso un'ottima esperienza!

14/05/2025: The restaurant is located in a strategic position, in the center of Somma and with a splendid view of the Castello Visconteo. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu, very elaborate and full of proposals able to satisfy all palates. The staff is kind and attentive without being intrusive, overall a great experience!

27/04/2025: A welcoming and comfortable place without affectation, the service is quick and those who carry it out are friendly, the atmosphere above all is that of a Viennese café, that is, a natural and usual place of transit and sometimes a daily stop in our daily routine. The lanky manager always finds the right tone to interface with. The prices are honest and I recommend, as in Vienna and in almost all of civilized Europe, to leave a tip to whoever serves you.

30/05/2025: Very good food, from the meat to the side dishes, to the appetizers, the beer and the pizza... Really everything was very good, I was surprised by the pizza, I thought I would always find the same pizza, but instead I have to say that even with the pizza they have surpassed themselves, you have to try it! Well done! Very helpful and courteous, but above all nice!

16/05/2025: Decent food.. location under a monstrous building in the style of the 50s Eastern countries.. the town of the restaurant Samarate I think is one of the ugliest in Europe.. the second room would need a whitewash on the ceiling!!!! Restaurant right for locals….

03/06/2025: I'll start by saying that the food is good, of course, but my ratings reflect what I paid, €340.00 for 2 with a tasting menu, a bottle of prosecco and 2 simple aperitifs. I definitely expected to be more pampered in the service, but in my opinion it was generic, and I also wrote that I was celebrating my wedding anniversary, asking during the booking if they had any ideas on the matter, but nothing, zero total. Upon arrival, we weren't asked if we wanted to stay inside or outside and they placed us under the sun, I wanted to say something but my wife told me to leave it alone. As I was saying, the dishes were good but not exceptional as you would expect for such an expense. My personal opinion of course.

03/05/2025: Nice place but in a basement not suitable for those suffering from claustrophobia. The first courses are not bad, the second courses are poor. Irritating that the manager stipulates that you have to go there at 7 or 9pm. You have to vacate the table... by your turn. They don't even see me in photographs anymore.

22/05/2025: We stayed at Villa Baroni for three nights in early May for our wedding, and overall it was a pleasant experience. The location by Lake Varese is sublime — with beautiful views and a well-kept, presentable hotel both inside and out. We had both breakfast and dinner during our stay. The food was of very good quality with well-prepared dishes, though dinner prices felt slightly high considering the setting. Still, it was convenient and enjoyable, especially when with family or for a special event. We were given three rooms for our families. As bride and groom, we stayed in the largest room (EUR 200/night), which was spacious, vintage in style, and had two large windows. We appreciated the in-room tea and coffee maker. The smaller rooms with direct lake views were charming and suitable for a weekend getaway. Unfortunately, certain behaviours affected our stay. A lady (possibly the owner?) let her dog roam freely throughout the hotel and restaurant — at one point even jumping on a dining table. Her friends also brought dogs to dinner, which barked frequently. This was inappropriate and unhygienic for guests, especially since booking platforms (Booking.com, Trivago, BringFido) state that pets aren’t allowed. The inconsistency in policy was disappointing. Rooms are on the first floor, accessible via a staircase next to reception. There’s a large fridge at the bottom for water bottles, but no door separates the floors. As a result, we could clearly hear guests leaving, bottles being handled, and bins being used between 11 p.m. and midnight. Most disruptive was the dog barking loudly for 15+ minutes around midnight, waking my toddler. Instead of moving the dog to a quiet room, the lady shouted at it — making things worse. I love dogs, but there are limits in shared spaces. The Wi-Fi was another issue — weak and unreliable in the rooms, only stable on the ground floor. A more consistent connection would be expected at this level. Our room, while not bad, could use an update. The red-brown carpet is dated and would be better replaced with wood flooring. There was visible mould between the wardrobe and window wall — clearly cleaned periodically, but it needs deeper treatment, which is understandable in lake settings. Some furnishings felt mismatched or flimsy: a beige leather sofa clashed with the vintage decor, a round table with a heavy oriental lamp was unstable, the desk chair was wobbly, the headboard outdated, and the shower door didn’t close properly. The wall-mounted hairdryer was very noisy, and the small TV high on the wall looked out of scale. Several extension cords and loose sockets gave a cluttered and unsafe impression. On a positive note, Alina at reception was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the cleaning lady was thoughtful and made sure our room was ready for the bridal party. In summary, Villa Baroni has great potential, thanks to its stunning location and kind staff. However, pet management, noise control, Wi-Fi, and room maintenance need improvement to match the villa’s charm.

01/06/2025: An unforgettable double party at Enosteria On Sunday, June 1st, we celebrated two special events: Grandpa Alberto's 90th birthday and my retirement at the end of my career. We couldn't have chosen a better place! What can I say about this Enosteria? First of all, a big round of applause for the refined cuisine and the elegant setting, which made lunch even more enjoyable. The quality of the dishes is truly excellent, as is the professionalism and courtesy of the staff, always attentive and helpful. The menu offers both fresh fish dishes and Lombard specialties: among all, a real delight are the Gragnano spaghetti with clams, prepared to perfection. The wine selection is also wide and well-curated. An impeccable lunch from every point of view. Sincere compliments to Nicoletti Luca and all the staff!
