30/09/2025: Great pizza for a very good price. We went on a friday night when the just have opened so we didn't wait at all but by the time we were finished, people started gathering up. We had a Quattro Formaggi und Pomodoro Pizza.

12/10/2025: Magnificent square just steps from the Ducal Palace in medieval Mantua. Romantic and intimate outdoor location. The staff is very professional, and the service is quick and attentive. The first courses are very good, but the second courses lack character. The prices are appropriate for the location.

28/08/2025: Perfect for lunch! Excellent quality ingredients, the fried gnocco was soft and not at all greasy, the cured meats excellent. The two first courses were both delicious and the portions generous. The staff was very kind. I recommend expanding the dessert selection with some homemade cakes because I'm sure they have some great family recipes ;)

12/08/2025: Found by chance during a stop in Sabbioneta. A double helping of tortelli, fried gnocco with cured meats. I reluctantly passed up the gnocco with gorgonzola (the cheese portion looked like an A4 sheet of paper)... I unfortunately didn't have a single spot left. All accompanied by a phenomenal soundtrack. It couldn't have been otherwise, given the Telecaster autographed by none other than Keith Richards. Definitely worth a try!

13/09/2025: This evening I returned to Café Matisse for dinner, having not been there in a while and still craving it. The restaurant is located in Viadana, in the province of Mantua (Lombardy). As usual, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and kindness of the staff: qualities that are now rare in restaurants, almost as if they were forgotten virtues. At Café Matisse, however, the art of hospitality is still carefully cultivated. The ambiance deserves special mention, distinguished by a style that is both formal and innovative, accompanied by pleasant background music that contributes to the harmonious and relaxing atmosphere. Moving on to the dishes: For my appetizer, I enjoyed a potato and spinach tart with Parmigiano Reggiano cream. A combination that, while it may seem predictable, proved to be balanced and completely successful. A small tip: the sage leaf used as a garnish would not be out of place if also inserted into the cream, as an additional aromatic note. I then moved on to a Chianina beef burger, served with fresh vegetables and baked potatoes. The meat revealed a flavor both bold and refined; I opted for medium-rare, executed with mastery. The meat was rested properly, preventing any juices from escaping—an unmissable technical detail that deserves praise from the kitchen team. Finally, for dessert, I chose a creamy mascarpone with saffron and hazelnut crumble. I must admit, I would have expected a more punchy finish. The combination of saffron and hazelnuts was interesting, although the hazelnuts were overpoweringly overpowered by the saffron. The cream, while full-bodied, soft, and silky on the palate, lacked the depth of flavor that would have made the dessert truly memorable. In conclusion, Café Matisse confirms itself as a place worth experiencing, not only for the quality of its dishes, but also for its refined atmosphere and the selection of drinks that complement and enrich the dining experience. An ideal stop for those seeking an evening of taste and pleasant conviviality. A sincere and heartfelt compliment goes to all the staff at Café Matisse: from the kitchen to the dining room, each one contributes with professionalism, elegance, and grace to making this venue a benchmark in Mantua's dining scene.

11/05/2025: I went with my family to eat for Mother's Day, a place with convenient parking, the staff was friendly, I found the service fast, we ordered pizzas and first courses and they were all delicious, the only thing was the lemon sorbet, I found it a little too liquid but still very good

20/09/2025: I went a couple of weeks ago to a friend's wedding. The location was truly breathtaking: a large outdoor space with seating for guests on the sides and a central area for the newlyweds. The interior was very well-kept and elegant. It's a shame about the plastic tables inside (though they were under the tablecloths). The food and beverage buffet was very extensive and constantly refilled! I would recommend it for a ceremony!

27/07/2025: I have to thank both Michele and Giorgia from Villa Adela, Canneto, who made my wedding just the way I wanted it... the place, the food, the drinks, the DJ, the photographer, the staff, everything was truly perfect... super food, friendly and kind staff, they had fun with us... and what can I say about Giorgia, truly professional... I recommend this place to everyone. Thank you so much ❤️💞

12/10/2025: We were with Sicilian friends and wanted to introduce them to some typical Neapolitan dishes. It was a terrible experience, one I won't repeat and would never recommend to anyone (so as to avoid making a bad impression on traditional Neapolitan dishes). The Genovese was practically inedible, saltier than ever, so much so that it made you sick. During our visit, all the customers who ordered the Genovese left almost everything on their plates. Despite this experience, the owner remained silent. I personally pointed it out to the waitress, who changed my dish, but the second one was even saltier than the first. When it came time to pay, they justified themselves by saying the pecorino cheese was too salty. As a true Neapolitan, I told them not to talk nonsense and admit that the dish had been completely wrong that day and perhaps it would have been better not to offer it at all. At least he should have deducted the three Genovese dishes we couldn't eat from our bill, but he didn't. I thought it was dishonest. I will never go back there again, nor will I recommend it. DO NOT GO THERE!!

26/06/2025: Excellent wine list and great care in choosing genuine products as the basis of the dishes offered. Appetizers with really delicious cold cuts, giardiniera and other vegetables offered as appetizers really excellent. First courses of the tradition for example I really liked the capunsei with butter and sage others took agnoli or tortelli with various condiments, all strictly homemade. We did not try the second courses because the appetizer and first course were abundant. Adequate and average bill. The only flaw in my opinion, but it is a matter of personal taste, the dark colors of the recently renovated rooms second, very "cool", but at least for me not very welcoming and a bit dark. Attentive and discreet service. Overall definitely worth trying, even in a large group like ours because the Service proved to be up to the needs of all the diners.
