Even though I ate a simple pizza, what a pizza!!! I had a Montanara, porcini mushrooms, excellent Seafood, fresh and seasoned with a drizzle of fantastic oil.

We ate pizza, there were four of us, and... everyone was satisfied with their choice, except for me. Let's be clear, it's not the Neapolitan pizza with a high, soft crust, but... we "polentoni" like it that way too. My "ortolana" would have deserved 5 stars if the zucchini and eggplant had been grilled a little better (they actually looked boiled), but instead... I give it 4. The dough was truly excellent. The average, however, remains high: it deserves 5 stars 😉

In the short three weeks since I first visited Le Due Rose, I've enjoyed it so much that I've returned regularly. It may be too early to consider me a regular, but the promise of becoming one is there. What are these promises? The ingredients used for the pizzas are top-quality, as is the dough and preparation: the crust is thin enough to perfection, cooked well but never burnt, crispy and fragrant, and generously sized with toppings. What's striking is the somewhat unsurprising fact that there's nothing—and here we come to the restaurant's menu—that gives off that prepackaged or processed—in short, artificial—feeling that sometimes comes across in other, less affordable establishments. To put it as bluntly as possible, you eat well and healthily for relatively little. I wouldn't want to exaggerate by talking about an excellent quality-price ratio. Anyone who wants a concrete example to convince themselves that my review isn't a piece of pandering, but is trying to be honest, despite the positive bias stemming from my fondness for the restaurant's owners: last Sunday I spent twenty-three euros for a white pizza with plenty of prosciutto, sweet gorgonzola, and mushrooms—tasty in name and in fact—a 33cl bottle of beer, dessert (a particularly delicate tiramisu), coffee, and a liqueur (on the house, perhaps because I'd stuffed myself too much). You be the judge. The atmosphere is vast, warm, and welcoming: while the truly enormous parking lot, besides being unsuitable for agoraphobics, might arouse the suspicion of having stumbled into a department store, as soon as you glimpse the elegant building from the outside, with its children's playground and a garden that, I'm told, is crowded with gourmets in the summer, you realize you're not in one of those barracks-like restaurants that make you feel uneasy. The seating capacity is substantial, but the tables are spread across two airy rooms and a smaller dining room, both connected but separate. This lends a greater sense of intimacy. If you trust the advice of someone who loves food and conviviality, Le due rose—I haven't yet had the chance to determine whether they are the historic York and Lancasters—is worth a trip (more than one, actually) to the countryside near Mantua.

Here I'm asked to share. I won't. Instead, I'll express considerations and outline judgments as if I were compiling a notebook. Reflection is a dialogue between oneself and the other, and the root of consciousness, the Latin "cum scire," attests to this better than any argument. Therefore, I'm not writing for external readers, but for myself and for anyone who has the patience to indulge me. Having said this, I'll recall what I said to the beautiful and kind Vittoria and the dynamic, generous Andrea, her eternal fiancé: "I really like this place, congratulations," I told them with naive simplicity, adding a few swear words to reinforce my appreciation with blasphemous emphasis. It's a welcoming place, I continued, exuding human warmth, and warmth in the truest sense—here I opened a comment on the devastating cold one typically experiences in bars and restaurants, as managers have to cut back on heating, despite the harsh winter weather. The delicious Neapolitan pizza was as flavorful as the colorful Neapolitan dialect, and the sausage pizza ordered by my companion Alessandro S., a man of great intellectual and human depth (after all, I don't like being surrounded by idiots), was devoured, accompanied by murmurs of almost erotic pleasure as the grinding of his jaws. Note to the writer: I've heard from reliable sources—reviewers, aside from me, are few and far between—that even the traditional multi-course dinner, washed down with copious libations, is excellent. I can't estimate the price, since dinner was free. Furthermore, good old Andrea, mindful of our childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood spent together in the happiest and wildest dissipation, like an old libertine restrained, but not too much, by the pater familias' sense of responsibility, took the opportunity of a toast to times gone by to let me savor those varieties of beer of which he is, with full right, proud and which he personally adopted after a long wandering from brasserie to brasserie in search of quality products. While I find the lager excellent, I believe the red one will satisfy true connoisseurs. Like me.
