14/06/2026: The food was very good, and the location was quite nice. I would have given it 5 stars if I'd stopped there (despite the fact that the awning opened while we were still enjoying our digestif, a gesture that seemed like a clear invitation to vacate the table). However, I was surprised by the price of the limoncello: €6 for a small glass. If it were a fine spirit, aged for years or made with particularly complex techniques, I might understand. In this case, however, we're talking about a simple liqueur made from infusing lemon peels in alcohol, not a distilled spirit. Furthermore, considering that the perceived quality was rather ordinary, the value for money seemed decidedly poor.

24/03/2026: We spent a truly enjoyable evening at Trattoria Contemporanea. The cuisine is modern and elegant, yet very pleasant and natural, without ever being forced. What we appreciated most was the "modular" menu: a smart and very contemporary choice that allows you to tailor your menu to your tastes and dietary needs. It was perfect for us—I'm vegetarian and my husband isn't—and this flexibility is definitely appreciated, compared to the usual fixed menus that serve the whole table. The location is also charming, tastefully curated. Other positive and particularly appreciated notes: the bread trolley and the option to choose cheeses instead of the traditional dessert. Sincere compliments to the entire team—we'll be back! 🌟🍽️

18/04/2026: I'm vegan, and last night I dined here for the third time. The staff is incredibly kind and always present without being intrusive, always ready to accommodate every request. The menus are always exquisitely varied, the ingredients are top-quality, and the cuisine and attention to detail are truly excellent, with truly interesting and never boring options. For me, a vegan, if I let them know when I make a reservation (recommended because it's always busy), I always find super delicious and meticulously prepared dishes. Each course tells a story of select ingredients, authentic flavors, and meticulous attention to detail. A special thanks goes to Mr. Massimo, who guided us throughout the lunch with timeless professionalism: discreet, knowledgeable, attentive, and capable of making every guest feel truly welcome. His passion for his work and love for this tradition shine through in every gesture. I particularly appreciated the sourcing of local products, the excellent selection of oils and wines, the quality of the bread served, and the care with which each dish is presented. Everything contributes to creating an authentic and memorable experience. 08/06/2026: Villa d’Este remains one of the great hotels of Europe, and the level of service is as polished and professional as ever. The gardens are immaculate, the setting on Lake Como is timeless, and the staff continue to deliver the kind of hospitality that made the property legendary. What has changed, at least from my perspective, is the atmosphere. I cannot help feeling that the experience is slowly drifting away from quiet, understated luxury and moving a little closer to a stage performance. There is more spectacle, more social media energy, and at times it feels as though some guests are visiting to be seen rather than simply to enjoy one of the world’s great hotels. Nothing about the quality has diminished. If anything, Villa d’Este still executes at an extraordinarily high level. I simply miss the slightly more discreet and effortless elegance that once defined the place for me. Perhaps this is the natural evolution of luxury hospitality in the age of Instagram. But for those who appreciate slow luxury, privacy, and the feeling that true refinement never needs to announce itself, there may be a quiet sense of nostalgia.

31/05/2026: The food is truly delicious, and all the dishes get A+. A special mention goes to the perch fillet risotto, truly exquisite! The value for money is excellent, especially considering the quality of the ingredients and the wide variety on the menu. They are also extremely attentive and willing to accommodate children's dietary needs, accepting changes to dishes upon request (such as not putting garlic in the polenta). Highly recommended!

The restaurant has a long history: it has been open since 1978, when it opened as a home-cooked trattoria in the hamlet of Begna di Porlezza. Over the years, it has remained faithful to tradition, evolving with great care in the selection of ingredients and the culinary offerings. Even today, the cuisine follows seasonality and emphasizes local ingredients, maintaining a traditional, family-style approach. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, intimate, and perfect for a special dinner: soft lighting, refined spaces, and a sense of tranquility that immediately puts you at ease. The staff is extremely kind and professional, attentive without being intrusive. The service was fast, well-organized, and always smiling, something that truly makes the difference on important occasions. From food to dessert, everything was excellent: beautifully presented dishes, balanced flavors, and a quality that was clearly perceived, in keeping with the restaurant's long-standing reputation among residents and visitors. It's a beautiful place, with endless natural spaces and animals: horses, calves, and chickens roaming the courtyards make everything simply wonderful. 02/06/2026: We went to eat the artisanal ice cream, which was absolutely excellent, you could taste the fresh milk... There is also the possibility for children to go for a horse or pony ride, very nice.
