10/11/2025: ...as usual, everything was flawless: the pumpkin gnocchi were phenomenal, and the contrast between the dessert and the blue of the Lavagè was decidedly balanced...nothing more to add to a reality that always offers courtesy and kindness...my father's ninety-fourth birthday was splendid...thank you so much

01/11/2025: I absolutely have no complaints about the quality of the dishes; the quality of the ingredients is evident. The only downside was the attitude of the person I believe to be the owner: my wife and I felt like unwelcome guests, perhaps because we only ordered water (my wife was pregnant, and I don't drink if I have to drive), one appetizer, three first courses (a trofie with olive oil was for my two-year-old son), no second course, and only one dessert. I understand and agree with the focus on high-spending customers, but if you only want to cater to that type of clientele, at least don't serve them in denim shorts. PS: It was July, and the place doesn't have air conditioning. It's a shame, because the food is truly delicious, and the waiters were all kind and understanding. PS: I'm writing this after four months because I was thinking of returning to the area. I'm not accusing anyone, but simply describing my personal experience and feelings.

14/11/2025: The food was good, but unfortunately the experience was ruined by the extremely rude staff. Despite our courtesy, we didn't even receive a response to our "thank yous." Their cold and unprofessional attitude made it difficult to fully appreciate the place. It's a shame, because the food deserves much better.

16/10/2025: The best pizza by the slice in Genoa. You can tell it's made with passion and expert knowledge of leavened products. Always welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.

15/10/2025: One of Genova’s best kept food secrets. This can easily be ranked as one of the city’s best pizzas, but given it has just a few seats and it’s open at lunchtime only, it’s rarely visited by tourists. However, if you want a very good pizza with a crunchy dough and tasty toppings, with a few euros you will have it! Quality/price ratio is unbelievable. And you can eat it in the garden nearby Colombo’s house or in Piazza Matteotti in a sunny day for a true Genoese experience!

09/11/2025: As you already know, dear readers, it's rare for me to give five stars so easily. But the second thing that comes to mind, after five stars, is wow. From the moment I crossed the threshold of this interesting place of "perdition," country and country-rock music mellowed my ears, introducing a truly interesting and well-organized atmosphere. A flame protected by a glass urn hinted at the motifs of blazing braziers and grills. In a flash, we ordered and had our drinks at the table. The fragrant and tasty bread was in the basket. A Fassona tartare and a Barcelleria hamburger were our choices, on our first, but certainly not last, visit to this refined place of meat culture. Two portions of Dippers and we were done. In short, an evening of good cuisine, with excellent cuts of selected meats that were much appreciated. The table service staff were extremely kind and knowledgeable. A special mention for their style and bearing. And so I set off again, always in search of the food and wine excellences of our beautiful country.

We often stop by with supplies, and both the owner and the girls are always available to serve you, even late. The food is excellent and they make you feel right at home. Highly recommended.

Service was friendly and attentive, even as the place filled up with locals (always the best sign!). Tip: If you’re tight on time, grab a taxi to make sure you can fit this in before heading back to the ship. But if you’ve got the afternoon free, enjoy the walk into town and let this be your reward at the end. 🍷🇮🇹

04/10/2025: So glad we found this restaurant! You can tell Chef George puts in his heart in preparing every meal. The octopus is fresh and tender. So is iberico pork - tender and flavorful. The prawns on rice is umami and a delight for the eyes. Chef George shares generously on how he makes his black focaccia ( the best I’ve had on this trip). Will come back again if I return to Genoa. 👍👍👍

19/11/2025: For our first wedding anniversary, we chose this restaurant. We had a very romantic evening, thanks in part to the thoughtful touches of the staff. We were offered a small heart-shaped cake and a glass of sweet white wine. The meal was excellent, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. On this occasion, we were given a bottle of white wine from the restaurant's cellar. I highly recommend this restaurant.

26/09/2025: Buonissimo! While passing through Santa Margherita Ligure, we were looking for a place to eat and decided to go to Oca Bianca. And from the starter to the dessert, we were not disappointed! Everything was perfect!! We received a very warm welcome, with very pleasant and friendly staff. And the food was simply delicious!! It's simple: I'd love the same restaurant in Geneva so I could go there every week! 🤍

13/11/2025: The best pesto I've ever had. The place is simple, almost like a takeaway, although they do have a seating area. You order the pasta and sauce you want, and they cook it fresh and serve it to you. The trofie with pesto were simply amazing…

19/10/2025: We had dinner, the service was excellent. The waiters were very knowledgeable, welcoming, and friendly. They gave us excellent advice. We tried a shared soup, the spaghetti with lobster, and the delicious pistachio ice cream dessert (a trip to Sicily). The prices were reasonable for the restaurant's quality. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves seafood and good food. I will definitely be back.

31/10/2025: This little restaurant was fantastic! We stumbled upon it on a side street off Via Garibaldi. It's completely 1960s-style: a step back in time, but that's what makes it charming and timeless. A very friendly and warm welcome from the owner, whose wife works in the kitchen. The two of them have been running this place together for 15 years. A simple yet delicious and honest menu, carefully prepared and served by the owner, who takes the time to chat, even with other guests. The stuffed sardines and grilled octopus: delicious! The price-quality ratio was excellent.

24/09/2025: While walking around the old streets of Genoa we discovered a gem of a restaurant. It was small and had an intimate feeling about it so we made a booking. The interior was absolutely beautiful, elegant and decorated with amazing furnishings, memorabilia from days gone by and with extremely comfortable seating. We had a wonderful dinner, the food was beautifully presented and really delicious. Maurizio, the owner, made the evening one to remember, he was such a lovely man who was happy to chat with us throughout the evening. We would highly recommend Au Cafe to anyone who likes good food , fine dining and a great atmosphere. Thank you Maurizio for a great night. Andrew & Gisella.

06/09/2025: The best pesto and one of the best fried dishes I've ever tasted. Warm and professional welcome, intimate, warm and elegant atmosphere, excellent wine list. In short, a must-see, and after just two visits, it's become my go-to restaurant in Genoa.

19/11/2025: The location is very charming and beautiful, both inside and out. You can enjoy a beautiful view both day and night. The prices, however, while not above average for what they offer, are more like a very expensive aperitivo with little food (you can certainly pay for dishes, but then, as I said, it's more expensive).

07/11/2025: Excellent restaurant, quiet and with a spectacular view; excellent food, especially the chestnut gnocchi and calamarata. Very kind and helpful staff; one girl moved us to a table by the window without us asking, as soon as it became available. We'll definitely be back in the summer! (And great music, lots of Vasco's songs.)
