18/05/2025: Very nice restaurant in the Genoese hinterland, with attention to detail and welcoming and kind staff. The choice of dishes is not wide, but it is certainly due to the fact that everything is homemade and with top quality products. The cellar is excellent with high-level proposals. The desserts deserve the highest step of the podium not only for the panna cotta. To return.

12/06/2025: I went for the first time today to have an excellent coffee standing at the counter in this small and welcoming café located inside the Genova Principe train station with tables inside and also outside with a view of the station. I have been frequenting several other places in Mentelocale for years every day such as in Via Garibaldi and in Via Balbi and I have always had a great time. In this café you can have breakfast and also lunch with a wide selection of sweet and savory dishes. The staff as always in all the other places in Mentelocale are welcoming, smiling, competent, friendly and helpful and they only serve you at the table at lunch while for coffee, toasts and other drinks you order, pay and then collect your order and good prices!! 01/07/2025: It's good but very expensive. In practice, with the price of a glass + aperitif you can easily have dinner in any pizzeria. One of the waitresses (blonde) is rude, the other very kind. They don't clean the alley from pigeon droppings (it's really full of them) and the seats have no backrests. Let's say that from a rustic environment in a dirty alley I don't expect to spend as much as for a chic aperitif...

08/07/2025: A fantastic discovery, we were truly satisfied. Beautiful setting with gray tones and attention to detail. Exquisite dishes, refined but not pretentious, excellent ingredients. The icing on the cake, the dessert: I took a risky suggestion from the waiter (a dessert with chopped anchovies, would you ever order that? :D ) and instead it was THE BOMB! We'll definitely be back.

29/06/2025: An amazing experience from start to finish. The signature raw fish was a true explosion of taste and creativity: whimsical but perfectly balanced combinations, capable of enhancing the freshness of the fish with unexpected touches. The sage semifreddo with anchovy crumble was the grand finale you wouldn't expect: a surprising and unforgettable dessert, where the saltiness of the anchovy blends with the aroma of the sage in a perfect balance. Congratulations to Katia for her boldness and mastery!

17/07/2025: Nice place, friendly, professional staff. Excellent food. The trofie with sea bass and lemon were delicious. Pesto gnocchi were very good. I'd like to point out a mistake: "You should write that the tamosello dish has peas." Not everyone likes them. We had 2 first courses and 1 second course. Water and 1 glass of wine. Average price.

08/07/2025: I gave the food three stars not because it wasn't good (it was excellent and plentiful), but because, for obvious cost-saving reasons, there's little choice, but there are still three starters, three main courses, and three side dishes to choose from. The service is fast, attentive, and courteous. The atmosphere is that of a country trattoria: clean, pleasant, and familiar. You can sit inside or outside in the cool shade, among flowerpots. I won't tell you how much it costs, but go and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

27/06/2025: Fresh, oh what a lovely breeze... just arrived. You have to book, yes, the road to get there is tortuous but it's worth it! Excellent first courses, such as pansoti, tagliatelle with mushroom sauce. After a while finally found and ate well-cooked baked potatoes, usually difficult to eat they seem boiled and unseasoned elsewhere. To be repeated

20/06/2025: This is always a very safe place to take any foreign (foresti) friends to taste proper Genoese food. I loved the usual trofie al pesto and pansotti al sugo di noci, but the most impressive dish time time were the gnocchi with chestnut flour and pesto. Melting in your mouth. Plus a proper Pigato that reminds you of the sea and all the good things that come with it.

15/06/2025: For the first time we go to the very renowned Scalvini restaurant, a beautiful experience starting with the staff, super professional and prepared to explain the various dishes, Mrs. Roberta very nice, impeccable service, starred restaurant dishes, not a big place but better this way, very well cared for in every detail, quiet environment. We felt very pampered, I recommend it to everyone, we will definitely return.

On that evening, a couple we were with in Italy ordered a fried fish platter, which they then ate and then complained about... because a fried platter that had been over-fried tasted disgusting. Well, a coppia with cui eravamo stati in Italy ha ordinato a piatto di fish fritto, which is stato poi consumato e per il quale è stateta presentata una reclamo... perché il piatto fritto aveva a sapore troppo forte. Noi stessi abbiamo trovato this comportamento ripugnante e ci siamo sentiti molto in imbarazzo. Pertanto, noi che purtroppo eravamo presenti, non possiamo che scusarci per questo comportamento scandaloso. When you have the fish, you can always leave a sufficient amount of money to cover the cost of the fish. (Noi abbiamo mangiato solo 2 pizza, but not siamo amanti del pesce).
