08/12/2025: Located less than a kilometer from the center of Portovenere, La Chiglia restaurant was one of the best surprises of our holiday here. The restaurant is seafront with parking, and the food, service, and friendliness are five-star. If you're in the area and want to eat expertly prepared, fresh fish and more, this is the place for you.

22/07/2025: This delightful little restaurant is set under the trees in the pretty little village square. An interesting menu features some local specialties which is nice to see and the family are friendly and welcoming. I had the ravioli which were delicious and my friend had the lasagne, which is unfortunately where it went all went wrong and stopped me from awarding 5 stars which is a shame. The lasagne looked lovely when it arrived but when my friend took a mouthful it was stone cold, un fact it was bordering on still frozen in the middle! The waitress apologised profusely and returned with a piping hot version, but surely this is a very basic error that should never have left the kitchen. To be fair they were very apologetic and offered us complimentary coffee but such a shame.

14/07/2025: This little restaurant is a gem. We had a nice long lunch in early July 2025. The food was fabulous. Extremely fresh creative salad. We also had a type of homemade pasta that was very different and terrific. The food was so good that we had desert, which we usually don't do for lunch. Both homemade desserts were also terrific. An added plus was that this restaurant is run by a very hard-working family with an interesting back story. Lastly, also our server (daughter of the owner I believe) had a big smile, and every request was met with "of course" and her great service to go with the great food.

05/06/2025: Excellent and imaginative cuisine. It's worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant. Impeccable service, with explanations of each creation. The local wine is very fruity and dry, with a good finish. Thank you very much.

21/05/2025: One of the best restaurant experiences I‘ve ever had. The waitress was really kind and the food was just amazing. There‘s really nothing negative i could say about this restaurant, it‘s definitely worth going. I think the prices are justified.

31/10/2025: This little restaurant was fantastic! We stumbled upon it on a side street off Via Garibaldi. It's completely 1960s-style: a step back in time, but that's what makes it charming and timeless. A very friendly and warm welcome from the owner, whose wife works in the kitchen. The two of them have been running this place together for 15 years. A simple yet delicious and honest menu, carefully prepared and served by the owner, who takes the time to chat, even with other guests. The stuffed sardines and grilled octopus: delicious! The price-quality ratio was excellent.

24/09/2025: While walking around the old streets of Genoa we discovered a gem of a restaurant. It was small and had an intimate feeling about it so we made a booking. The interior was absolutely beautiful, elegant and decorated with amazing furnishings, memorabilia from days gone by and with extremely comfortable seating. We had a wonderful dinner, the food was beautifully presented and really delicious. Maurizio, the owner, made the evening one to remember, he was such a lovely man who was happy to chat with us throughout the evening. We would highly recommend Au Cafe to anyone who likes good food , fine dining and a great atmosphere. Thank you Maurizio for a great night. Andrew & Gisella.

07/12/2025: A surprise! Luckily, even though it was Saturday, we were able to book. We weren't familiar with this restaurant, but it surprised us with its attention to detail, despite its large seating capacity, the inventiveness of the dishes (the desserts were incredible!), and the attention to flavor combinations and plating. Very good value. We'll be back!

25/11/2025: Came here specifically because of the pictures of desserts. The food was really good and beautifully presented, and the dessert also delivered!

06/09/2025: The best pesto and one of the best fried dishes I've ever tasted. Warm and professional welcome, intimate, warm and elegant atmosphere, excellent wine list. In short, a must-see, and after just two visits, it's become my go-to restaurant in Genoa.

19/10/2025: We had dinner, the service was excellent. The waiters were very knowledgeable, welcoming, and friendly. They gave us excellent advice. We tried a shared soup, the spaghetti with lobster, and the delicious pistachio ice cream dessert (a trip to Sicily). The prices were reasonable for the restaurant's quality. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves seafood and good food. I will definitely be back.

08/11/2025: Excellent pizza and pizzeria. Simply the best pizzas we've ever eaten. We've tried quite a few in France and Italy, but this one is truly the best. The flavors of the ingredients are fresh and perfectly balanced. The chef is very friendly and readily explains the history of his pizza dough and answers all our questions. The waitress is also very friendly and speaks English for those who don't speak Italian, like us.

19/09/2025: I've been coming here for five years now, and I couldn't imagine changing: it's so much more than just a salon. It's a complete experience that combines beauty, hair care, and relaxation, all in a welcoming and refined environment. Nicole is an exceptional esthetician, meticulous down to the last detail with an almost obsessive attention to detail (in the best sense of the word). Each treatment is performed with a professionalism and attention to detail that is truly rare. Salvatore is "the hairdresser." I would never dream of letting anyone else touch my hair. He has a unique sensitivity for understanding what best suits each person, and he's always up to date on the latest trends without ever losing his personal touch. And then there's Onni, who makes everything even more special. You find yourself having treatments with a glass of top-quality wine in hand, served with skill and passion. He's extremely knowledgeable and always knows the right advice. A unique place, where beauty and wellness meet with taste and style. Highly recommended!

28/10/2025: I only went there to eat and not to stay, but I still gave the rooms 5 stars because, since everything else was 5-star, the rooms were certainly no less... and I must say, it's all true... in fact, it exceeded my expectations... Let's start with the location, practically at the entrance to the historic center but not in the middle of its chaotic hubbub... It's located 3 meters from the sea and has a terrace where you can eat right in front of the beaches. The service was truly friendly and kind, from the reception to the waiters and all the staff (even though I was only there for dinner, I felt pampered). Now let's move on to the food... The menu was very varied with many choices, but since I love mussels marinara and mixed fried fish, I wanted to try these two dishes specifically to have an objective yardstick based on all my experiences with these dishes. I had high expectations (since it had been recommended to me), but since it was a hotel that also served as a restaurant, I didn't expect them to be both so good!!! The ingredients were clearly fresh, cooked to perfection and with care, and had a superb flavor and aroma, with generous portions (just how I like them). The waiters were all extremely friendly and kind without ever being pushy, giving me time to enjoy everything without any rush. Finally, the price.... Extremely fair for what I ate (I asked for the bill again because I thought they'd forgotten something, given the prices in the area). In short, it's a must-try if you want to eat well! I'll definitely be back to try many other things! Excellent!

03/12/2025: I went here for a business lunch. For my first course, I chose trofie al pesto, which was truly excellent: a generous portion and a bold flavor. A small bottle of water and coffee were served. I spent €17 in total, a reasonable price considering the adjacent restaurants and the fairly central location. They also have a wood-fired oven for those who prefer pizza. Everything was perfect. As for the decor, I'd just say it wouldn't hurt to update it. Recommended.
