20/11/2025: On Saturday, November 15, 2025, a friend and I were looking for a typical Trieste place where we could eat a good hot ham sandwich and some other delicacies, as true Triestine people often do. Luckily, the 5 or 6 places we usually go to were all closed... it was 2:45 PM... I say fortunately because when we arrived at Barriera, we looked at each other and said together, "Let's go there," seeing everything open. We found all the staff professional, friendly, and welcoming, and they seated us with a smile. We immediately ordered 2 ham and eggplant sandwiches, which were amazing, 1 ham and gorgonzola, which was even better, 2 beers, and 300 grams of ham for home, since just the thought of having already finished it made your mouth water, and all at a very fair total price. We used to go to 5 or 6 places for years, now we'll only go to one place... "Salumeria a mano" Go there and you'll hit the mark. Congratulations to everyone Staff...Alessandro and Rea will be back to you very soon.

The location is average, simple and without any particular features that make it stand out, but still pleasant. The food was quite good, with satisfying portions and good-quality ingredients. The real star of the dinner was the Florentine steak: tender, flavorful, and very well cooked, it was definitely the dish that impressed me the most and I recommend trying it. The service was prompt and the atmosphere relaxed. Overall, it's a place worth a visit, especially if you're craving a good Florentine steak.

08/08/2026: The food may be good, but you can't reach them on the phone, and the lady is also arrogant and unhelpful. After making a reservation, we showed up and the restaurant was closed, and they didn't even bother to let customers know. Then, another time, she was very rude. After we spent more than a day trying to communicate on the phone, her response was that she has to work and doesn't have time to answer the phone when the restaurants are open, even with that. If she doesn't answer, how do they make reservations? We won't set foot in there again. She's super rude.

11/08/2026: The food was delicious! They have a separate gluten-free menu that they give you when you arrive, and everything is very well managed. The prices are quite reasonable, and we ate incredibly well. We even shared a pizza because they're quite large. I highly recommend it!

We shared bites of buffalo mozzarella seasoned with olive oil and oregano, which were delicious, and ate sandwiches with hand-sliced ​​local prosciutto, delicious—I'd say they were top quality! 09/05/2026: As a Trieste native, I strongly advise against this bar. Sitting at an outside table, I waited ten minutes for someone to deign to take my order. To no avail. I went inside to order and was told the girl would come and take my order and that I couldn't order at the counter. I went out, sat down again, and waited another ten minutes. The waitress came out, I waved to her, she laughed, and left. And so did I.

31/07/2026: Excellent lunch on the outdoor terrace. It was a Saturday lunch, and the service was prompt. Both the entrees and the meat were delicious and well-prepared.

15/06/2026: What a surprise! I found it by chance, or rather, it was recommended by the guy who runs the bar/grocery store in Albugnano. We ate and drank well. It's a typical Piedmontese trattoria, you can feel at home, and the welcome (with an aperitif offered) and the service were attentive and kind. I recommend it and we'll definitely be back. Thanks for the service.

17/05/2026: After visiting the Grotta Gigante, I walked to this charming restaurant for lunch. I ordered a Margherita pizza, and it was absolutely fresh and delicious—bursting with flavour. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Plus, it was very affordable, offering great value for such quality food. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

13/05/2026: There were eight of us at the €18 pizza round (drinks not included). What can I say? The pizzas were delicious, we ordered ten to try as many as possible. On the first round, you could only choose the classic pizzas, while from the second round, you could choose all of them. The mortadella and the one with sausage and burrata were very good, and the classic diavola was also excellent. Very fast service and very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
