05/11/2025: Correct review I remembered this little restaurant as a pleasant place, so after a long time I decided to return. Unfortunately, however, I was greatly disappointed. As soon as we entered, the atmosphere was more reminiscent of a canteen than a restaurant: tables lined up and a sign warning that, given the difficulty in finding staff, the service would not be able to meet all customer needs. The waiter greeted us by saying that "due to Covid," there was no menu, but that he would list it for us verbally (although he could bring us a paper one if we wanted). He then added that the cups were plastic, but he could bring us glass ones if we preferred. At that point, I felt like I was in a Candid Camera! We ate two fried appetizers, a pizza, a pasta dish, and a microscopic slice of watermelon. Total bill: 41 euros. Truly excessive for such a mediocre experience: 12 euros for two supplì and a few chips, for example. I understand the industry's difficulties, but we can't continue to blame Covid on ourselves when the restaurant industry is already restarting and many establishments are committed to offering better service. Here, unfortunately, I found neither quality nor attention, but decidedly outrageous prices. A real shame: they need to get some serious regulation.

25/10/2025: On Saturday night, we had a good thin Roman-style pizza, but the bill was too high, even compared to the menu displayed, with the fable of offering free amaro. Upon closer inspection, the prices also seemed more expensive than the menu displayed (which was already expensive!). A word of advice: the empty restaurant on a Saturday night deserves some reflection and self-criticism.

09/11/2025: A small but very welcoming place, decorated with photos of the old Castello. The staff is friendly and ready to explain the various dishes on the menu. The chef is friendly and skilled. There's a wide selection of appetizers, including the cheese and egg balls. The menu also offers a decent selection of first courses, main courses, and side dishes. The wine list is good, especially the Montepulciano di Abruzzo, and the prices are average.

14/10/2025: A welcoming, rustic-style restaurant with beautiful photos and reproductions of paintings by Teofilo Patini. The food was well-prepared. The appetizers and arrosticini were excellent, but everything was delicious.

28/07/2025: Avremmo voluto cenare qui, ma non è stato possibile. Tutto prenotato tra le 19:30 e le 20:00 e non prenotavano per orari ulteriori. Se volete mangiare prenotate i pochi tavoli per tempo oppure rinunciatevi.

21/07/2025: Trattoria a conduzione familiare, con piatti cucinati al momento, noi abbiamo preso tagliatelle al cinghiale e uno dei piatti del giorno " un polpettone ripieno di verdure prosciutto e formaggi" entrambi buonissimi...patate al forno e antipasto di bruschette varie e sfiziose, e x finire una cheesecake fatta in casa da scegliere in varie varianti, noi abbiamo scelto con Nutella e granella di nocciole, leggera e davvero speciale. Ringrazio la cordialità della proprietaria e la professionalità ed educazione della ragazza che ci ha servito. Sicuramente ogni volta che torneremo da queste parti saremo vostri ospiti. Il prezzo adeguato e meno caro degli altri posti della zona. Grazie

02/09/2025: We arrived at the refuge around 3 PM, but even though we'd eaten, they cooked us delicious arrosticini right there. It's worth coming all the way here just to have a coffee and enjoy the view. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, and lovely tables in the woods!

13/08/2025: You arrive and find yourself in this family-run refuge, served by a wonderful, kind, and extremely helpful lady at the counter. We've been here a week and had the best sandwich in all of Abruzzo: sausage, broccoli rabe, and provola. Exceptional desserts. Everything homemade and strictly fresh. Five stars superior!!!

02/11/2025: We had a wonderful horseback ride with Gerardino, who made you feel at ease. Wonderful family-run business, they manage to convey their passion for animals. We'll definitely be back, great prices! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 🔝

02/11/2025: I can't judge the quality of the food because I didn't eat. But the experience wasn't satisfactory. After the horseback ride, some of the group wanted to eat arrosticini, there were 10 of us in total. Only 4 of us ate. Only 4 people were seated; the rest were standing and had brought packed lunches since arrosticini weren't served. Those sitting at the table ordered arrosticini, beer, and a scamorza. The table wasn't set, and no glasses were brought. They were sitting on a picnic bench, but again, only 4 people were seated (also because only those 4 people could fit). A cover charge was charged for everyone. 6 people didn't use any service. The problem isn't the money; a 2 euro cover charge won't change anyone's life (we paid 20 euros cover charge, and 4 of us ate), but I don't think this is the right way to behave. Disappointing.

24/08/2025: A place where you can stop for a home-cooked meal. Nothing exceptional or special, but there's certainly attention to detail, speed, and authenticity in the products. We'll be back.

23/08/2025: We stumbled upon the restaurant by chance and were struck by the waitress's kindness. She consulted the kitchen and even managed to prepare pasta for our newborn without prior notice. Our dishes met our expectations, and we ate well, appreciating both the service and the ambiance. Looking at the reviews, one might suspect the service might cause some problems, but we can attest to the waitress's professionalism: the table next to us, after placing a very confusing order, sent back some dishes because some diners hadn't properly informed themselves about the ingredients. Despite the rudeness of the customers, the waitress maintained a professional and composed demeanor. Not everyone! We'll definitely be back!!! Regarding the rooms, I'm giving them 3 stars, in line with most of the reviews I've read, but I can't comment on that since we didn't stay at the hotel.

01/09/2025: This piadina shop was recommended to us by the owner of the hotel where we stayed. The piadina is excellent, prepared by the owner, who is truly talented. We also had amatriciana and carbonara, both freshly prepared and the best we've ever had. The charcuterie board was also delicious. The owner and his two daughters were incredibly welcoming. Excellent value for money. We'll be back!

16/07/2025: Abbiamo festeggiato il compleanno dei vent’anni del mio ragazzo ed è stata un’ottima scelta. Piatti tipici e particolari molto buoni. Abbiamo apprezzato sia il tagliere di salumi veramente delizioso e anche il fatto che la pasta fosse fatta a mano. Speriamo di tornarci.

24/08/2025: Tourists can be fooled once, but the second time they won't return. Paying 36 euros per person for things I'd easily eat elsewhere for half the price and in larger quantities left a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm not saying tourism shouldn't be part of the equation, but doing so will destroy it.

24/08/2025: We're not arguing about the quality of the dishes, but a portion of chips (one potato cut into slices) at 7 euros seems a bit expensive, just as a first course (7 paccheri) at 17 euros is excessive. This is not tourism... learn from Trentino.

10/11/2025: Limited variety of dishes and somewhat high prices. The arrosticini weren't great...but I'm from Teramo, so I'm a bit hung up on arrosticini. 19 euros for a sausage with grilled scamorza seems a bit high, and 16 euros for a chitarra al sugo, too. The house wine was a no-no. Get a bottle. In short, the quality and variety of dishes are average, the prices are high.

06/10/2025: Completely negative, and I'm sorry. From the appetizers, there were many products, but of poor quality, to the first courses, at least for the ones my wife and I had. I won't specify which ones were inedible. Moreover, the prices weren't exactly cheap; in fact, the atmosphere was reminiscent of a 1960s/70s city-dwelling restaurant, hardly fitting for a mountain restaurant. It was also a bit cold in the dining room. The staff was very kind and quick, they won't see us again. Of course, this is just my opinion.

07/05/2025: Veramente ottimo! La gentilezza della signorina che ci ha seguito, con consigli e spiegazioni, le zuppe favolose, le ottime porzioni e il prezzo veramente buono per quanto offerto ci hanno stregato! Grazie!

03/05/2025: Cucina semplice, sincera, senza fronzoli da ambiziosi gourmet, ad un prezzo giusto e con un servizio corretto e molto cortese. Evitate manciate di sale, grassi inutili, panne pasticciate per dare solo apparenza di sapore. Un agnello da 20 e lode per quanto mi riguarda (davvero gustoso e cotto a puntino). Chitarra al pomodoro, gnocchi a salsiccia e zafferano e fantastici agnolotti di ricotta al tartufo. Vino della casa senza alcuna offesa. Che dire? Grazie!!!

04/09/2025: For an excellent breakfast or lunch break, I recommend this place. Kindness and friendliness reign supreme. When we return to L'Aquila, it will be our go-to place. Thanks for the hospitality, especially to Emanuela and Pierluigi for the excellent breakfasts.

09/08/2025: Ordinary, at best, for Italy - the risotto was reheated (my wife cooks it better), and although the fusilli with speck and radicchio were tasty, the consistency of the sauce wasn't quite right. We had better experiences - and value - elsewhere.

15/08/2025: I regret having to give this restaurant a negative review due to the poor behavior of our server. When we asked for two glasses, we were told they didn't serve glasses, but 35cl bottles. The excessive price of the wine we ordered wasn't mentioned, which the waiter should have done. When we received the bill, we were charged a whopping €35 for a bottle of wine.

26/07/2025: I've been going to this wonderful little gem for many years, and the food has always been good. But last night I was truly disappointed. Roasted sausages clearly made with spoiled meat; they took everything back, but with a clear understanding of what they were serving. Lamb chops with no meat, just bones! I'm sorry, it was a reference point.

11/12/2025: What a shame!! We went to this restaurant on New Year's Eve 2024/2025 and New Year's Day, and we had fantastic food. The quality was excellent (although the service was very slow). On Sunday, December 7, we went again, having booked a week in advance. When we arrived, they told us it wasn't possible because the restaurant was full and we'd arrived too late (coming from Rome and with a dog). We'd given 1:30/2:00 PM... disappointed, we left. However, looking around the dining room, you could see annoyed faces, probably due to the slow service... maybe that's why they didn't even offer to wait if a table became available.

27/11/2025: Very bad experience. The bathrooms were rundown, the prices were high, and the food was mediocre. Everyone was rude. Never again.

28/10/2025: A delicious dinner, a rustic yet authentic restaurant, perfect for those who appreciate substance and interesting stories. Excellent ricotta ravioli, tasty lamb with a side of delicious chicory. A truly authentic family atmosphere. Thanks, Silvan!
