08/12/2025: An excellent culinary experience in the heart of Monopoli. Although the trattoria was packed (a clear sign of its popularity) and we had to wait a bit to be seated, the wait was worth it for the quality of the food. We enjoyed traditional cuisine made with high-quality ingredients. The appetizer was the real highlight: a fresh seafood selection, with scampi, red shrimp, oysters, and the signature hairy mussels, all undeniably fresh. The appetizers: from raw seafood (scampi, red shrimp, and hairy mussels) to cuttlefish tagliatelle, to hot dishes like battered cod and prawns in tomato sauce. The first course was surprising: artisanal orecchiette with prawns, mussels, and a delicate sweet pepper cream. We finished with perfectly grilled red mullet from Mazara del Vallo. A cuisine that celebrates the traditions of Monopoli and the Adriatic with excellent ingredients. Absolutely worth trying.

You'd never expect the beauty and attention to detail I found on Tuesday evening in this sprawling establishment. The same attention to detail is evident in the food and service, which are excellent, excellent, excellent, if not excellent. It's a given that I'll be returning even though I'm 1,100 km away. 25/09/2025: After a year, I returned to this charming, historic restaurant, composed of many small rooms, but I was disappointed. The traditional Salento cuisine, once of a notable standard, has unfortunately declined in both quality and presentation. All the appetizers were mediocre, the first courses, including the maritati, were decent, and the guaccetto was exceptional. The desserts were good, and the recommended wine was mediocre. The service was friendly but confused and unprofessional. The price was high for the quality of the food.

24/09/2025: I'm from Catania and the restaurant thought I was Chinese or something. An appetizer, two first courses, and two glasses of wine cost 82 euros. The food was horrible. Only the guys serving were friendly. BUT I WOULD NEVER LET THEM GO AGAIN AND I WON'T EVEN SEND AN ANT WITHOUT RESPECT.

Stars aren't awarded here by a renowned guide, but by the dishes the chef is capable of preparing for you. Oysters like you've never eaten before, lobster that speaks to you when you eat it, a truly amazing entree... what can I say? The Brescia restaurant that few people know exists. Essenza isn't a discovery, but it's a place you can't miss, and if you go... you'll return again and again. Entrées: lobster, squid with an exhilarating filling, crispy octopus with tomato mousse, don't miss the oysters—one, two,... ten, twenty... please stop me because you'd eat at least twenty... and for dessert... zabaglione with a surprise to degrease. The most special place in Brescia, unique in its kindness and passion. For all those who understand and for the few who already know... Try, review, try again, review, and come back... Oh, and I forgot about Daniela in the dining room. With her professionalism, kindness, and passion, she knows how to make you feel unique and offer you an unforgettable evening. Seeing is believing. 16/11/2025: I'm giving it an excellent review because I went there today with two friends and found it welcoming, with a nice atmosphere and an owner who was able to give us great advice on both food and wine. The only flaw is the bathroom, which isn't the cleanest, but that may not be due to the place itself but rather to the politeness of us patrons. Highly recommended! ❤️
