06/08/2025: Posto fantastico, cucina alla vecchia maniera, abbiamo preso: fusilli fatti in casa, alicine fritte, orata e zucchine sotto olio. Prenotazione presa alle 21.30 quindi anche abbastanza tardi.
31/07/2025: Tappa fissa per ogni nostra estate a Maratea: sapori autentici, atmosfera familiare grande cortesia! Ottima l’orata alla brace

11/10/2025: The food was very good, and the service was also friendly. It was supposedly outside, but no one else was smoking. The only thing missing was the nervous owner, who was moving from table to table, trying to watch the game on his tablet with poor internet, chain-smoking. ugh.
11/10/2025: A first course with 11 paccheri!!… a bottle of water filled with an ambiguous flavor!! I'll leave it up to you to judge.

06/10/2025: Nice place, but the service is pushy, and the staff is very unfriendly and not at all polite. When I criticized a dish that wasn't a success and was sent back, they didn't even apologize or offer to fix anything. I don't recommend it.

14/09/2025: The staff's courtesy and kindness were exceptional, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was a bit problematic: the first course arrived quite late and, even more strangely, it was served with the second course.
As for the food, the quality was generally average, without any particular highlights. The mushroom cavatelli, in particular, didn't thrill me; it wasn't anything special. The only positive note was the orecchiette with ragù, which was good. The average price, €15 per person, makes up for any disappointments.

20/04/2025: Cena per 6, cibi eccezionali cucinati con gusto. Abbiamo preso lo stracotto in crosta, le zuppe, due primi con pezzenta di maialino e pomodorini, vino, dolci. Ogni piatto dal più semplice al più complesso era gustoso e lavorato bene. Le materie prime si sentivano di prima qualità. Costo totale euro 100.
Molto soddisfatti. Personale gentile. Servizio ottimo.
19/04/2025: Sono tornata al paese per una visita con una mia zia che è di Irisna e mio marito che è di Napoli e ci siamo fermati alla trattoria Nigent dopo aver letto le recensioni online. La signora Gigia è una padrona di casa eccellente e ha saputo consigliarci bene per provare i piatti tipici della tradizione lucana senza strafare. Tutti prodotti locali freschi, di elevata qualità e piatti davvero ben preparati. I dolci della signora Gigia sono stratosferici e preparati con ingredienti freschissimi, e si sentiva. Il locale è molto ben arredato con elementi tipici Irisnesi che lo caratterizzano con eleganza senza strafare. Anche i vini e i liquori preparati dalla Signora Gigia e Mario erano davvero molto buoni. Esperienza da ripetere la prossima volta che torniamo al paese.

31/08/2025: We ate on a panoramic terrace with a spectacular view. Excellent sausage, eggplant, salad, and ricotta tart.
We returned two days later. Same table, same view. Falagoni calzone with potatoes and onions as an appetizer. Frizzuli as a first course: handmade pasta with a mixed meat tomato sauce and breadcrumbs. Ricotta and chocolate tart.
Everything was excellent, and the lady serving the tables was very friendly.

02/10/2025: I stopped by while exploring Matera. It has a local feel and a great location. I ordered bruschetta and carbonara. I've read other reviews that the carbonara was poorly rated, but it was absolutely delicious. The noodles were al dente and the flavor was easy for Japanese people to enjoy. I'd definitely return if I visit Matera again.
26/09/2025: Unfortunately, we're just uneducated foreigners—every Italian should decide for themselves whether this is a typical spaghetti carbonara lucana and whether the huge pieces of ham (consisting almost entirely of fat) are just right... - The spaghetti was still really crispy, by the way, but maybe that means "al dente" here in Matera...
The portion, by the way, was originally only slightly larger...
No foreigners received a bread basket at their tables, although, of course, the cover charge was billed later....

This was recommended by our hotel and it did not disappoint. So cool to have your dinner in a cave.
02/10/2025: I ordered cod, but disappointed very much, it is salty whatever cod and fish, no one come to check the taste, and after told gem there was no any response, service is also terrible as well, she asked my go to counter to check, but when I was there nobody, I have to wait, the price they charged me 13 eur with any notice in advance.

09/09/2025: I'd never been there. It happens that one Sunday I'm alone, I pass by to get a cigarette and I say to myself, "Why not try this restaurant?" I wish I'd never done it. I order the typical Lucanian dish, "strascinati con pepi cruscki," and I find them on my plate, I fork them and they break apart, so I know how to make strascinati too! The meat? Do we want to talk about it? You couldn't even cut it with a knife! The worst thing is that you can't comment because they get angry... and then... my experience was terrible.
13/07/2025: Everything was excellent. The prices were fair. It's a restaurant from another era. We'll definitely be back.

05/09/2025: An underrated seafood restaurant.
This evening I tried
carpione zanghete (small sole);
red tuna tartare;
grilled red mullet (which brought me back to Portofino from the legendary (once) U' Batti);
spaghetti with clams, but the clams were the small local ones that are very hard to find.
A must try. You won't regret not having dinner (or lunch) by the sea.

05/10/2025: If you're after something different from your usual Italian spot, this is it! The food is super authentic and homemade - generous portions, too. The homemade wine and pasta were amazing. We had an awesome time and felt so welcomed!
28/09/2025: Unfortunately, the restaurant was apparently closed at short notice. The drive to the restaurant is exciting and winding.

15/07/2025: Personnel très sympathique. La vue est sublime et le cadre est très agréable. L’huile d’olive est excellente et avec le pain c’est très doux. Aucune faute, tout est parfait ! Ils ont tous les codes de la restauration. Nous vous recommandons spécialement la viande, qui à notre avis est une grande spécialité de cet endroit. Elle est tendre et très goûteuse. On a adoré ! Les pâtes ont un côté plus recherché et innovant. La carte des vins est surprenante, n’hésitez pas à en prendre. Bref, un très bon moment passé en famille. Nous reviendrons sans problème.
15/07/2025: Vins, charcuterie, pâtes, desserts, tout était excellent. Personnel et cadre sympa.
Un peu cher mais les plats en valent la peine.

08/09/2025: I asked for a glass of wine and received a typical Nutella jar glass (€8), which is even listed in the Michelin guide! The staff was inflexible and unfriendly when I asked to change tables. The food was average, nothing exceptional. My response to the owner: her response, unfortunately, confirms exactly what I wrote in my review: an unfriendly and rather arrogant attitude.
First point: I never asked for the air conditioning to be turned off; I simply politely asked to change tables. She therefore misrepresented and invented an incident that never happened.
Second: the fact that four of us showed up instead of six with reservations (not 20 people less) does not constitute financial loss enough to justify a rude attitude toward customers. Unforeseen circumstances may arise, but that doesn't justify treating condescendingly those who showed up and consumed anyway.
Third: I wasn't criticizing the quality of the wine, but the fact that it was served in a small glass, not a chalice, for a price of €8. It's not a question of "details," but of consistency with the standard a Michelin-starred restaurant should guarantee. A restaurant aiming for a certain level should welcome customers with professionalism, availability, and a smile, not with irritated or argumentative responses. His response, however, reveals a defensive and inelegant attitude that does not honor either his cuisine or the prestigious setting in which it is located. Without tourists, he makes no money and earns nothing.
04/09/2025: The dish I recommend, and which I've eaten twice, is the Dolomite lamb, tender and flavorful. The rosé I posted was a good wine. The ricotta dessert was also good, and they even accommodated me with half portions. It's just a shame they don't use the large panoramic terrace in high season.
