15/07/2025: As soon as you enter, you'll notice a strong (unpleasant) fishy odor. A young man is intolerant to milk proteins and asks to confirm if there were traces of lactose in one of the first courses, and instead of responding politely, the waitress says, "What do you think? What do you think?" In a truly unpleasant tone. The chef specifies on the menu that it's advisable to order at least two dishes per person, and we were repeatedly told that if we didn't want to wait too long, it would be better for multiple people to order the same dish. Since when in the world do restaurants have to tell you how much to eat? And I'm fine with being advised to order a dish to save on waiting, but it shouldn't be insisted upon, otherwise it becomes an obligation rather than a recommendation. We were then brought a bottle of red wine, which was tasted by a woman who owns a winery in Alba: the wine tasted corked. The waitress, having demonstrated zero wine experience from the moment she opened the bottle, turns up her nose and says she'll take it to the kitchen... the chef, without even coming to the table, shouts from the kitchen that the wine is delicious but they'll change it if we want. We keep the corked wine, and that's fine (plus, there were clearly pieces of cork in the glass, which the waitress also saw, but whatever). At the end of the dinner, we're told that due to the corked wine, they'll offer us a bottle, so we thank them and ask them to bring us the same bottle of white wine we'd had before. We're served another white wine they wanted, but at this point, we drink what they bring because we don't feel like making a fuss anymore. When it comes time to pay, the bill is split between three of us and everyone has paid by card. We chat a bit longer and then ask if we'd paid for everything and everything was fine. We're told yes and are wished "have a good evening," said in the usual tone. We move to a restaurant in Santa Margherita a little further away, and after about half an hour, we receive a call from an unknown number: the waitress tells us that €129 is missing and that she made a mistake in her calculations, asking us to come back to pay. First, I ask myself: 1. How can you get such a huge amount wrong? 2. How can you expect me to return to the restaurant at your times, and how can you benefit from a SERIOUS mistake of yours? 3. If I wasn't given a receipt when I paid, how do I know you're not making it up? Shocked, we say that we would have calmly gone to pay after we'd finished at the restaurant, but instead they keep calling us insistently, so we answer and tell them to come get it from where we are. But then I wonder: if we had left to go somewhere, how would they have behaved? The waitress told us that the chef scolded her a lot for the incorrect bill. But first of all, we weren't given a receipt, and secondly, we asked if everything was okay and were told it was, so I don't see why I should bother paying when the mistake was theirs and if they wanted to fix it, they should have come and collected the money. The attitude of the waitresses, the chef, and the overall "I eat as much as you want" concept was truly shameful, given the tone and manner of addressing the customer. A little more humility and good manners are needed. I hope I don't receive a response with the same tone we were treated with throughout the entire dinner, otherwise you would only be confirming what I've said so far. You'd better take the blow and keep quiet; it would make a better impression. RESPONSE TO THE NICE OWNER: Dear sir, something doesn't add up in what you're saying because you did the billing and you told us everything was paid, and I repeat, no one ever saw the receipt. We had all paid, and we have the POS payments to prove it. You're just rude liars. But don't worry, I'll report it to the tax office. Have a good life.
13/07/2025: Ok wow, first off just go here don’t think just go. 2nd this place is so good it’s forcing me to write a proper review. Third, why are you not there now. We were first to arrive at 7:30 to an empty restaurant truly my first thought was uh oh it’s Saturday night and they are “slammed” but yet we are alone at 7:30. May I now say thank god we started alone. The chef and his family wife for sure and I think daughter with red dyed hair give their upmost attention, it might come across as abrasive but it is not. It is true care and attention to you bordering on Michelin / Asian excellence fitting as the wife is Thai. 2nd the wine list is splendid it’s big but not annoying so, and separated by regions, one can keep it affordable as I did 35€ a bottle for a delightful Chardonnay or you can open your wallet real wide and drop 650€ I like the versatility. Now with a place like this they are all but begging you (but not really) to get the tasting menu. We did, and oh my god, it was divine. It was as if it great seafood, some Italian and Thai Influences plus just a talented chef had a baby. And damn that baby is beautiful! I won’t go into crazy detail on food just trust me I eat a lot and this is in top 15 of my travels. The squid especially with Thai roots was damn good. I honestly might move to this town and if I do want to be friends with the chef and his wife. They are awesome! So the meal moves along at a proper pace never waiting more than 2-4 mins for next course and also the restaurant itself started to “fill” up tables of 2-4 people trickling in every 30 mins, which is key because this way each table gets the chef’s and his wife’s fullest attention. They know exactly what they are doing. I commented to his wife (the front of the house) that I saw on the menu that they had a steak with peppercorn sauce. A man who can cook seafood like this can surely cook a steak to die for. I asked to just sample the peppercorn sauce she obliged. Instead of the sauce I got two pieces of tuna bathed in the sauce to try it properly, it was amazing!! Two things I will become a regular here and 2nd just go, this place is a 1 or 2 star just in quality, kindness, taste, and love alone. 10 stars! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

08/08/2025: A very welcoming and well-maintained restaurant, with fast, efficient service that's always attentive to their customers' every need. The appetizers are excellent, as are the first and second courses. The cheese focaccia is particularly noteworthy, exquisite and truly worthy of the famous Recco focaccia. We had the pleasure of returning and can confirm our previous review: the focaccia is even tastier than before. Whenever I crave cheese focaccia, I'm happy to leave Portofino to come here. The prices are in line with the quality offered, with an excellent value. Special praise goes to the owner and his family, who stand out for their courtesy, professionalism, and for creating a truly pleasant atmosphere in every way.
30/07/2025: Our visit to Vapansiero was absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious, every dish was full of flavour. The service was super, with incredibly attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even better. On top of that, the atmosphere was great, creating a truly inviting and enjoyable space. I highly recommend it!

29/07/2025: The place is too cramped, with too many tables, and it's uncomfortable. If you call to reserve, you're doomed: they don't give you the workers' menu. We ate well, but it's very chaotic. I wouldn't go back. I strongly recommend not reserving if you want the menu.

17/08/2025: The outdoor seating area allows you to dine or lunch with a truly picturesque view of Piazza Ferrari and the Carlo Felice. The dishes are delicious and carefully prepared. Service is fast and the staff is very friendly. You can also sit inside. The menu is limited but varied enough to please everyone. The dishes are mostly traditional.
16/08/2025: Absolutely excellent restaurant. As a group we tried so many dishes and shared. Every single dish was superb. We had all three of the pasta fresche dishes-excellent, the tartare di cabannina- great ,the capon magro-good,the roasted piglet-absolutely outstanding a must, squid skewer-excellent, lasagne-superb, tiramisu-great, crème caramel-great. 100% going there again.

14/07/2025: We celebrated our wedding here in July 2005. We return every now and then, always on anniversaries. The management has changed over the years, but the place remains enchanting. The cuisine is interesting, as is the wine selection. The staff is courteous. A very pleasant place.
10/07/2025: Bella osteria, siamo stati all’aperto, dove la cornice è semplice e gradevole. Primo piatto buono (spaghetti alla chitarra con pesce) e ottimo gelato artigianale. Servizio gentile. Da aggiustare forse un po’ l’aspetto estetico anche se a Genova un po’ di trascuratezza ha il suo fascino e ci sta tutta

17/08/2025: My wife and I had dinner at this wonderful restaurant on the farm located on the hills of Lavagna, surrounded by greenery with centuries-old olive trees and a beautiful view of Portofino. The farm also has several rooms above the restaurant and hosts birthdays, confirmations, baptisms, and weddings. You can eat indoors in a large dining room or outdoors, either at outdoor tables overlooking Portofino or under the covered pergola with a view of the mountains only. The tables are beautifully set with cloth tablecloths and napkins, except in the pergola where the tables have paper tablecloths and napkins; perhaps cloth ones would be a good idea. At the beginning of the dinner, we were served two complimentary rabbit liver pates, and then we ordered the handmade "mal di indietro" ravioli with garden herbs as our first course, followed by handmade summer plantain maltagliati with Ligurian zucchini, mint, and clam pesto. For main courses, we shared a tender, soy-seared calamari on a puree of cannellini beans, with endive and spicy paprika powder. For dessert, we shared Paolo's cake, a soft sponge cake with dulce de leche cream. We loved everything, it was plentiful, delicious, and delicious. Chef Paolo Passano comes to greet guests during dinner and offers his exquisite dishes, which also have an exotic touch, created by Paolo, who lived in South America for many years. The large staff is elegantly dressed, welcoming, smiling, competent, professional, friendly, and helpful. 30/07/2025: Everything is good, the food is good, the place is nice, but there's been a decline in the staff, who aren't as good as they used to be. They're kind, but that kind of kindness makes you realize they don't care about what they're doing. They could use some training, too. My opinion, but I'll definitely be back.

22/08/2025: An excellent experience in a welcoming and historic setting. The dishes are tasty and the portions are generous! The amberjack ravioli are highly recommended. The quality/quantity/price ratio is also very good. The only downside was the service, although this was most likely caused by an occasional issue. The wait times were quick and efficient at first, but then significantly slowed down between the first and second courses. That said, the dinner was still a pleasant experience, and U Pescou is a place we'll return to!
21/08/2025: The restaurant welcomed us with a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. We appreciated the extreme courtesy and helpfulness of the wait staff. The fish, in particular, was fresh and impeccably cooked, a true pleasure for the palate. The owner, Gabriele, was attentive and thoughtful to each customer. Overall, it was an excellent and unforgettable dinner.
