A historic osteria in the center of Genoa, just steps from Brignole. A few dishes, but all traditional, including their homemade pesto, an absolute delight. The dishes are very traditional and delicious. We tried the Ligurian-style mixed meats, the tripe, and the farinata with onions... a business lunch... I'll be back often...

I found this restaurant on Google and had a great time. The pesto was delicious, and the caponadda appetizer was equally delicious. They even bring you a small pesto sample as a welcome gift. The staff were friendly and the service was very fast. I recommend making a reservation because they were fully booked on a Saturday night. Overall, we'll be back!

I discovered Il Genovese thanks to an episode of Insider Food: the owner's passion for sharing the tradition of pesto captivated me, and the experience exceeded my expectations. It was a flawless culinary journey from appetizer to dessert. The food is simply delicious, with an honorable mention for the meticulous presentation of the dishes. The wait staff is extremely kind and helpful, and chatting with Roberto at the counter was the finishing touch that made the evening special. I will definitely be back!

04/07/2026: For years, I've been going to Vittorio's place whenever I've been in Chiavari, sometimes for dinner, sometimes for lunch. Everything is always delicious, and the service is exceptionally friendly. It closed this winter for renovations and remained closed for several months, but the wait was worth it. The place has been completely renovated and refurbished, while still maintaining that charming rustic feel. Congratulations. They don't take reservations, and especially on Saturdays and Sundays, it's best to arrive a little before 7 pm for dinner.
