15/08/2025: After a morning spent among the serene waterfalls of San Fele, we chose L'Usignolo restaurant for our Ferragosto lunch. The experience, however, was marred by a few disappointing details worth mentioning. At the time of booking, we were asked for a 50% deposit via bank transfer, an unusual practice, but one we accepted given the unique nature of the day. Upon our arrival, before even being seated, we were asked to pay the full amount for lunch. This approach, more akin to that of a fast-food restaurant than a traditional restaurant, created a rather unpleasant and unwelcoming atmosphere. Once inside, the setting truly transported us to the past. The decor, seemingly from the 1970s with a slight update in the 1990s, has remained unchanged over time. Despite the feeling of a place "frozen in time," the overall cleanliness and order were not lacking. To complete the experience, live music in the style of a Romagna dance hall accompanied our meal, an element that, unfortunately, didn't fit well with the idea of a relaxed lunch. The menu matched the restaurant's retro atmosphere. We tried dishes such as mezzepccheri with confit cherry tomatoes, speck, and chopped pistachios, a lasagna with artichokes and béchamel sauce, and roast suckling pig with potatoes. Despite our concerns about the ambiance, the food was a positive: the dishes were decidedly enjoyable and well-prepared. L'Usignolo restaurant offers honest and enjoyable cuisine, but the overall experience was marred by inattentive customer service and a dated atmosphere. If you're looking for good food and don't mind an old-fashioned setting (and paying in advance), it might be a decent choice, but for a more modern and welcoming experience, you might want to look elsewhere.

30/03/2026: Lovely restaurant , food very good unfortunately the service is basically close to none. We had to pur ourselves the watter , the wine ... No home made desert unfortunately , no Tiramisu the traditional Italian desert. Very sad and disappointing.

15/09/2025: Passing through Maratea, we decided to stop at this little place selling traditional products. I must say I was very impressed both with the products I ate (delicious) and with the intimate atmosphere in a small piazza decorated with photos. The owner is a very honest person who lets you try his products without overcharging or being intrusive.

24/08/2025: I dreamed of a typical sandwich, perhaps with a touch of Lucanian tradition and a friendly smile. Instead, I found a masterpiece of coldness, seasoned with rudeness and stuffed with condescendingness. The owners? A textbook duo: zero empathy, courtesy on sale (sold out), and plenty of rudeness. The sandwich looked like it came from a refrigerator on strike, but at least it was consistent with the atmosphere: cold, hasty, hostile. A place like this should only be visited to test your own zen limits. But if you prefer to eat in peace... follow your instincts and cross the street.

25/10/2025: Terrible experience. The only redeeming feature was the appetizers, inedible sandwiches with no sauce at all and a minimal amount of caciocavallo cheese. I was celebrating my graduation and we were told that drinks were included (both water and other drinks). Later, the owner said only water was included, so he charged for it separately. He was asked several times during the call if drinks were included. Report.

20/11/2025: 🍝 - Food: 1/5 🛎️ - Service 3/5 📍 - Location & Atmosphere 1/5 In short: lots of smoke (from the arugula) and no roast (or rather, no Aglianico!). I visited Black Pepper in Potenza with my mouth watering for a 300g tagliata from the menu, which upon arrival turned out to be more of a "arugula tartare" with submerged meat, and I had the feeling that those grams were a mirage and at the same time the certainty that the bill would be steep. The discomfort, rather than lessening, increased when, as a true Lucanian, I asked for a local Aglianico and was told that the cellar was "being dismantled": in a Lucanian restaurant that focuses on quality meat, it's a bit like going to the beach and discovering the water has run out. The experience reached tragicomic heights in the bathroom, between broken handles and faulty faucets—in short, an adventure! My advice is: it's better to focus on a single specialty and deliver it like a pro, than to raise expectations in the customer and then serve up a "horror tavern" experience. So far, my experience has been disappointing, and Black Pepper needs a wake-up call.

21/02/2026: A gift of a star. Absolutely avoid this place. All the food is low-quality and the fish is frozen. You'll feel sick. DO NOT GO!

17/02/2026: Close it, you'll be quicker. The bathrooms smelled like they were transporting you to the afterlife. Thanks for the frozen food. PS: It was a sub-brand.

06/03/2026: The café is in a lovely location and the seating is very pleasant. Unfortunately, the food is rather uninspired and far too expensive. We paid 8 euros for a small bowl of soup.

13/12/2025: Terrifying! Cold... so cold. Hot water dripped on the counter. In short, it's best to avoid it in winter.

24/11/2025: Very large room, en suite bathroom, rather small TV, especially considering the distance from the bed. Only curtains were used to darken the windows. Ample parking.
