31/08/2025: Pasticceria Carlone has been my go-to shop in Nova Siri for years. The fresh pastries are excellent, but their highlight is undoubtedly their almond pastries: I won't describe them because the only way to understand is to try them! The icing on the cake? The owners' courtesy, always available and friendly.

05/05/2025: A few days ago, we had lunch at Break Paradise as a family of four. The pasta was undercooked, and the sauce was watery! Everything was frozen and dry. I don't recommend it.

23/08/2025: You make us ashamed of being from Matera, first of all, because it's true that Matera has become untouchable, and often unjustifiably so. Then it also makes us angry if we're the ones being ripped off. For two, we consume a small plate of carpaccio for €5, a microscopic platter of cured meats and cheeses for €10. So far, almost normal... But consuming a medium-sized rib-eye steak, because I didn't have the pleasure of seeing it being cut, of barely aged heifer, completely devoid of marbling, dry, €47... FORTY-SEVEN euros. Mineral water. Total €70. The next day I ate fish at a seaside restaurant in Puglia, a full meal for two for €75. Shame!!

15/08/2025: After a morning spent among the serene waterfalls of San Fele, we chose L'Usignolo restaurant for our Ferragosto lunch. The experience, however, was marred by a few disappointing details worth mentioning. At the time of booking, we were asked for a 50% deposit via bank transfer, an unusual practice, but one we accepted given the unique nature of the day. Upon our arrival, before even being seated, we were asked to pay the full amount for lunch. This approach, more akin to that of a fast-food restaurant than a traditional restaurant, created a rather unpleasant and unwelcoming atmosphere. Once inside, the setting truly transported us to the past. The decor, seemingly from the 1970s with a slight update in the 1990s, has remained unchanged over time. Despite the feeling of a place "frozen in time," the overall cleanliness and order were not lacking. To complete the experience, live music in the style of a Romagna dance hall accompanied our meal, an element that, unfortunately, didn't fit well with the idea of a relaxed lunch. The menu matched the restaurant's retro atmosphere. We tried dishes such as mezzepccheri with confit cherry tomatoes, speck, and chopped pistachios, a lasagna with artichokes and béchamel sauce, and roast suckling pig with potatoes. Despite our concerns about the ambiance, the food was a positive: the dishes were decidedly enjoyable and well-prepared. L'Usignolo restaurant offers honest and enjoyable cuisine, but the overall experience was marred by inattentive customer service and a dated atmosphere. If you're looking for good food and don't mind an old-fashioned setting (and paying in advance), it might be a decent choice, but for a more modern and welcoming experience, you might want to look elsewhere.

15/09/2025: Passing through Maratea, we decided to stop at this little place selling traditional products. I must say I was very impressed both with the products I ate (delicious) and with the intimate atmosphere in a small piazza decorated with photos. The owner is a very honest person who lets you try his products without overcharging or being intrusive.

24/08/2025: I dreamed of a typical sandwich, perhaps with a touch of Lucanian tradition and a friendly smile. Instead, I found a masterpiece of coldness, seasoned with rudeness and stuffed with condescendingness. The owners? A textbook duo: zero empathy, courtesy on sale (sold out), and plenty of rudeness. The sandwich looked like it came from a refrigerator on strike, but at least it was consistent with the atmosphere: cold, hasty, hostile. A place like this should only be visited to test your own zen limits. But if you prefer to eat in peace... follow your instincts and cross the street.

01/06/2025: Pranzo da dimenticare.. 01.06. Il cameriere ha annotato la nostra comanda alle 14.. Ma aihme abbiamo dovuto attendere 2 ore per gustare un immangiabile raviolo cacio e pepe e uno spaghetto alle vongole( questo dal sapore buono). A una delle bambine (tra l'altro celiaca) è toccata una sorte peggiore.. Una pennetta al sugo completamente cruda(la cucina per azzittire le nostre bocche ha pensato di far uscire comunque la pasta dopo tutta quella attesa) . I camerieri non hanno avuto nemmeno la bontà di intrattenerci con acqua e pane.. La mia bimba per la fame ha mangiato tutto il pane gluten free della cuginetta. Ci siamo alzati affamati e pagando una cifra spropositata...ah dimenticavo.. Il ristorante cucina senza glutine ma bisogna aspettare che finisca di cucinare per tutti.. E dimenticatevi la cotoletta che è un must nel menù dei bambini se ci andate con un bimbo celiaco!

05/10/2025: The room and bathroom were spacious, with a large window and mountain views. The furnishings were a bit dated but well-maintained, and the housekeeping was excellent. The dinner was very good, with well-seasoned pasta and tasty meat. We also tried the pizza, which was excellent! The ingredients were fresh. The owner was very kind and helpful.

20/09/2025: The tomato sauce on the pizza was extremely acidic, and the ingredients were low-quality. The service wasn't great, and the waitress was rude. The place was nice and welcoming.

04/10/2025: 5 days in the Sassi of Matera, with another couple of friends, from September 30th to this morning, 4:10am We ate 7 meals. We went to this restaurant on Thursday evening. I recommend booking in advance. The atmosphere is quiet, without loud music, the staff are friendly and always smiling, the food is excellent: tart, sausage with baked potatoes, orecchiette. We had lunch à la carte. Prices are similar to other restaurants in the city, between 35 and 40 euros. Gaudianello water is served in glass bottles, not plastic. No bottled wine...paid by card. Recommended.

21/10/2025: A farmhouse surrounded by greenery; excellent, locally sourced food; and it was lovely to have the opportunity to pick chestnuts from their private grove.

18/09/2025: The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating on multiple levels. The waiter was friendly and professional. The food was good, but we didn't find the quality to justify the high prices. The mixed cod appetizer tasted like little, served with more sauce than cod. The orecchiette were good, and the softened cod was also tasty, but it, too, had the cod smell. I'd return at least for the pizza. The menu's design was poor, with colorful pages and grayscale printing.

05/06/2025: Delicious pizzas for local prices where you sit among the locals. While eating your pizza you can do your laundry in the adjacent laundromat and dry it. Recommended!
