16/12/2025: Years ago in Cassano, people would go to San Giuseppe, where there was a bar, play bocce, and dance outside in the summer. Today, there's this wonderful Grotto del Sorriso, which, in addition to its important social impact, is a truly valuable restaurant. You can eat well at reasonable prices, and the service is exceptional. You can also buy the cooperative's products, and the proceeds help the young people who, despite their varying challenges, work together to deliver excellent results. Considering Cassano's limited restaurant options, the Grotto is a place that combines ethics, variety, flavor, pleasure, and indulgence!

02/12/2025: The restaurant is very friendly, with few tourists, which is a plus. The pizza is very good, and the local prices are really low. A pizza costs around €7-10, and a 1-liter frizzante white wine costs around €12.

The food is divine, the view is breathtaking, and the staff is courteous.
An extra bonus for those who take a stroll and stop even just for a speck platter and a glass of wine.
It's satisfying.
07/12/2025: Today was an outlier! Usually, the service and quality are top-notch.
Today, the apple strudel I cut was hard and a challenge even for healthy teeth. This is unacceptable and has been better on other visits.
I'll give it another try next year.

11/12/2025: I went with my wife last Saturday and was really very satisfied. The home cooking was excellent, just the way I like it, without any fancy gourmet touches. I'll be booking for my birthday on the 20th of this month, with my daughters, son-in-law, and grandson. It'll definitely be a special day.

12/11/2025: What a view! And what a Kaiserschmarrn! For me, the best in the world. A true culinary delight.
The host family is incredibly friendly, and Mrs. Zmailer has received numerous awards for her creations, especially those using local herbs, such as her nettle soup and dumplings. It sounds unusual, but it tastes unusually good too! 👍 👍 👍
And if, for whatever reason, you don't want to eat here, you should at least try one of the excellent spritzers made with local berries—they're fantastic! Sitting at Zmailer's, enjoying the view, gazing into the distance at the surrounding mountain peaks of the Merano Basin, the Val Venosta, and the Val Passiria, and simply letting things be... that's all you need to be completely happy! 😀😃🙂

07/12/2025: We set out with high expectations, and I must say they were fully met. We'd heard so much about this place that we were really curious... we had a tasting menu with 10 appetizers, which at first seemed few, but then gradually became more and more... two first courses and a second course of seafood or meat, including wine, coffee, dessert, and liqueur... a reasonable price.
If you want a tasting of raw fish, there's one, and it's off the menu.
The dishes are very flavorful and delicious, they're really good, and I can only confirm what people say about the old bakery... you have to try it and take the waiters' advice... a round of applause.

Il Pirata delle Cinque Terre

29/11/2025: One very tasty place to dine in Vernazza. They serve different versions of pesto dishes that one can try. They are very good and highly recommended. Their service personnel is very fun, accommodating, and quirky too. One very minor comment is the view of the parking and the zooming vehicles beside the diners, but their food is reasonably priced, compared to the dining places by tourist center.
29/11/2025: This was a great dining experience in Vernazza. Although this popular spot is located away from the main town drag, it was absolutely worth walking uphill to reach it.
We came specifically to try classic Ligurian pesto. We ordered the local classic, trofie al pesto, and pesto lasagna. Both dishes were excellent. The pesto was made fresh and it was delicious. We enjoyed the dishes so much we wished we could have ordered a second plate.
Admittedly, the setting isn't the most scenic (the restaurant faces a parking lot), but the friendly, attentive service and the quality of the food more than make up for it. Highly recommended!
