13/11/2025: Granduca in Taormina is one of those restaurants that instantly makes you feel like you’re in the heart of authentic Italian and Sicilian culture. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere stood out. The décor, the lighting, and the overall vibe create a very cozy environment that feels both welcoming and lively. If you’re lucky enough to get a seat on the balcony, the view is truly beautiful and adds an extra layer of charm to the whole dining experience. One of the things we loved most about Granduca is the strong Italian character of the place, especially with the traditional Italian pizza oven on display. It gives the restaurant a genuine, local touch and brings an element of tradition that you don’t find everywhere. It also sets the tone for the food quality, which did not disappoint. The menu offers a very good variety of classic Italian and Sicilian dishes, along with an excellent selection of drinks. We tried a couple of different pastas and pizzas, and everything we ordered was delicious. The flavours were well balanced, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the portions were satisfying without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of food that truly reflects the region’s culinary pride. Customer service was fair and generally pleasant, though there is room for improvement. Staff were polite and helpful, but service could be a bit more attentive considering how busy the restaurant gets. Overall, Granduca is a great choice in Taormina if you’re looking for excellent food, a warm atmosphere, and a wonderful Italian dining experience. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely return.

15/11/2025: Beautiful location right on the sea with the Acitrezza sea stacks as a backdrop... excellent quality food, EVERYTHING fresh, from the appetizers to the local sorbet, where the scent of lemons 🍋🍋 takes you back to beautiful Sicily. Recommended. P.S. Call to book without having to wait long for a table because the place is OBVIOUSLY and DESERVEDLY popular...

25/11/2025: Ordered carbonara and pasta was so undercooked it was still crunchy, so I asked if they could re-make it. Took them an extra 45 minutes to cook a new plate (and managed to cook it incorrectly again) and added a "service fee" to my meal. This restaurant is the definition of tourist trap where they will gouge you if they can. Edit: It was so bad I didn’t even bother eating what they made the second time, they gave me a take away box because nothing was eaten and it was left on the table because I didn’t want to bother carrying it with me. The owner is clearly delusional. I am very aware what al dente means and it does not mean under cooked to the point of inedible.

22/10/2025: I had excellent swordfish rolls, accompanied by equally excellent grilled vegetables (radicchio, mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes). The gelato was presented in an original way, with a delicate yet delicious flavor. The place was well-kept and clean, including the restrooms. The high attendance on Saturday evening made conversation with other diners difficult, but the staff's efficiency deserves praise, as the wait times were not excessive. Well done!

11/07/2025: At Carmelo's we had excellent pizzas, cooked to perfection and with a truly exceptional variety of flavors. The arancini were delicious. Four of us were able to sit at a table outside, and the staff was extremely kind and friendly. A truly wonderful experience.

05/11/2025: Expensive and not good value for money. The small portion of fried squid without any sides cost €20, and the small fish of the day with a meager salad for €32, both served cold, were disappointing. The sparkling wine was delicious for €28. Bread and oil were included beforehand. Bottled water was inexpensive. The service charge of €3 per person was acceptable. I cannot recommend the food; perhaps the pizzas are warm and tasty. It was simply too expensive for what you got, and the portions were too small – the fish was served cold. The service was good, and the ambiance was pleasantly Sicilian. The pizza a few streets away was better.

18/10/2025: I came here particularly encouraged by the photos in the guest reviews. I signaled that I wanted such a generous portion of seafood. I got it for €20, a tiny portion. Everyone knows calamari is ridiculously cheap. The flavor was decent, the pizza was good. The atmosphere was inadequate, forcedly bourgeois... I'll leave other things aside...

22/04/2025: Die Küche hat ihre Highlights (Lamm) und ihre Lowlights (kalter Fisch serviert). Das Service ist bemüht, kommt aber nicht wirklich über einen mittleren Standard hinaus. Was uns nicht gefallen hat war die Atmosphäre. Man sitzt in einem in die Jahre gekommenen Wintergarten und das Lokal wirkt kalt. Hier scheinen auch nur Touristen zu speisen und keine Einheimischen, was wir in Italien nie als gutes Zeichen erlebt haben.

14/04/2025: Cenamos aquí por mi cumpleaños y tuvimos una noche muy encantadora. Las mesas de la pequeña terraza de la azotea están en un lugar muy romántico, con la cumbre del Monte Etna justo visible sobre los antiguos tejados. Fuimos muy bien atendidos por el personal y las opciones de comida y vino fueron algunos de los mejores que probamos en Taormina.

14/11/2025: You can do more, especially if you ask for advice and don't just choose from the menu. The Mazzara prawns had been in the fridge for a few days, as the crustacean's shell was wrinkled and dull.

21/10/2025: !! AVOID THIS PLACE !! Entire place runs cluelessly. (Should look and believe other reviews) Arrive 10 minutes prior to the reservation. Got told to wait 5 minutes, but end up waiting more than 30. People arrived later got seated before us. Many tables’ food was missing or wrong.

20/10/2025: It was a meal we had been looking forward to, and it looked really delicious. The initial reception was also normal. We made an online reservation for 8:00 and arrived at 7:50. The waiter gave us each a glass of sparkling wine and asked us to wait for 5 minutes, but 30 minutes later we were still not seated. During this time, more people lined up, but no one showed us to the empty tables. It also looked like the diners were having trouble getting their meals. Someone who looked like the boss came out and pushed the diners who lined up later into the empty seats. Neither we nor the other diners who arrived earlier understood this arrangement. Based on this logic, we might not be able to get our meals until 10:00, which was a pity. In the end, we left and went to another restaurant. It would have been better if they had told us directly that the wait would be long, so that we could have decided whether to continue waiting, instead of constantly asking people to wait another 5 minutes. The online reservation could also be cancelled because it was meaningless.

18/10/2025: This restaurant, besides being beautiful, also offers excellent food, including the pizza (with tuna and red onion), one of the best I've ever had. We went there three nights in a row because we had such a great time. The food was meticulously prepared with all the delicacies of Pantelleria, those toasted capers are unforgettable, and the wines were amazing. The staff were professional, attentive, and fast (this doesn't mean they're surly, indifferent, or anything else, as some reviews have suggested, written by people who have no idea how tiring and demanding this job can be, especially at certain times of the year). We were also surprised to learn that none of them were the owner, but all employees—this shows how much interest and love they put into their work. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the beautiful ladies who served us, especially the lady who took us to visit the wonderful outdoor garden. We never imagined such beauty... and those who were behind the scenes (the ones you never see but are the backbone of the restaurant, the chefs. I only glimpsed a handsome, rasta-haired guy). Thank you all so much for helping to make our vacation so delightful. YOU ARE FANTASTIC. CONGRATULATIONS. HAPPY LIFE TO ALL.

14/10/2025: Quality dishes, a quaint restaurant with an internal garden. It's a shame they don't have a smoking ban. Every time the waiters open the door, smoke fills the room.

12/12/2025: In short... I expected more from this first experience at Godiva. I'll start by saying that I didn't book because it was an impromptu dinner, there were two of us, and we arrived around 10:45 PM. I'd read on Google Maps that they close at midnight. The dining room on the first floor was definitely worth a visit; I found it welcoming and elegant. I was offered an off-menu first course of squid ink and sea urchin; I was hoping for a riot of strong flavors, which, alas, didn't materialize. The pizza wasn't bad, just average; for dessert, a berry cheesecake that was as good as it was tiny. The service... a sore point: we felt like they were breathing down our necks the entire time, more so from the waiter (who smiled, no doubt) than from the owner. A few minutes after they served us dessert without any request, the bill arrived, but we also wanted two amaro liqueurs. Finally, it wasn't at all pleasant to notice that at 11:30 PM they started turning off the lights (we clearly heard the ding of the switches, and saw from the first-floor room that they turned off the lights at the entrance. The bathroom lights have nothing to do with it) as if to say "you have to leave." Upon arrival, all you had to do was say, "Guys, we close at 11:30 PM," and we would have adjusted accordingly. I'm sorry, because I chose you out of curiosity and enthusiasm after hearing about you, but that's not how you make good food, in my very humble opinion. May this review of mine help fill in the gaps, otherwise the customer won't come back. And I don't think that's what you want.
