Very tasty food and good service:)

We arrived for dinner at 7:30pm which is somewhat early for locals but we enjoy the quietness around this time. We were the only ones in the restaurant for an hour before it quickly became packed with locals. After reading the many reviews, and as someone who solemn writes a review, I felt I wanted to represent this unique and quaint restaurant in the way that it deserves. As you look around the restaurant, every part of the wall is filled with memories and history. It is evident that the two gentlemen who were running the floor had poured their lives into this business. To be still so committed to their restaurant, when they could clearly retire, I had nothing but respect from the very start. We are Australian and while I don’t speak fluent Italian, I try my best. The gentlemen serving us humoured my awful Italian and I could tell he was a little hesitant with us being ‘tourists’. I understand his hesitation having read some of the unfair reviews so persisted in showing him respect as he went about his calm and efficient manner to serve us. He was professional and courteous and I really hope that he realised by the end of the meal just how much we enjoyed the evening, and appreciated our experience. We ordered a simple meal. We started with Salad Caprese - simple done right is all I can say. Seasoned to perfection, freshest ingredients and the best olive oil. The bread was a perfect addition to wipe our plates clean!! I’m pretty certain they make their own flat bread as well - it had a delicious tomato topping!! Our mains were a beef fillet, cous cous with meat and the mussels. Oh, and caponata - which we ended up ordering a second plate of…need I say more? The broth with the cous cous was so flavoursome - this dish was something we hadn’t had before and it was a delightful surprise. The mussels were incredibly fresh and the white wine, garlic and herb broth was amazing. My husband didn’t leave a single drop. My beef fillet was cooked perfectly - again, simple done well. Seasoned, cooked medium and paired with the caponata, it was a welcome change to the recent overload of carbs! Dessert was crème caramel, frozen cake and mini cannoli. My husband and I also had limoncello which I think is made in house…wow! Our bill was modest given what we had. Including wine, Aperol spritz and water, it was a total of $105. I can’t recall whether there was a local tax or not, it didn’t matter. Small local businesses in those central areas are subject to taxes so any negative review regarding that is unfair. And as for the comments regarding the surly service, a server doesn’t need to be over the top to be good at what they do. Over all, we loved this for our last meal in Catania and I wish those gentlemen all the very best for continued success. Grazie Mille 🙏

Amazing experience in Catania, the owner was so nice and informative - the fried calamari is truly one of the best I’ve had in my life. All of the seafood was fresh and extremely tasty 💯💯💯

Yes, carbonara is different than we are used to, and tastes ok. The risotto was very tasty.

Abbiamo pranzato egregiamente. Il locale all'interno è molto particolare, accogliente e ricco di dettagli. Pesce freschissimo e piatti davvero saporiti. Anche il servizio molto piacevole. Lo consiglio caldamente.

Caratteristico,si mangia benissimo,materie prime di qualità gentili cortesi si trascorre una bella serata da provare
