19/04/2026: Fantastic restaurant right on the beach. You can choose between a Sicilian buffet, fresh fish, or the pasta dishes available that day. We opted for pasta, one vegetarian and one with fish. Both were absolutely delicious, and the staff was incredibly friendly.

02/05/2026: I'm deliberately giving Vecchio Mulino one star because, twice in a row, within a year, the waits for pizza were exorbitantly long! Although the place is large and can accommodate large groups, if there are many tables, the wait is at least an hour and a half, or even two hours, making the evening absolutely unpleasant. On May 25th, we had the same experience, so we wanted to give it another try. We definitely won't be returning. Unfortunately.

The atmosphere is unique, transporting you on a journey through history, culture, and tradition. The cuisine is top-notch and represents the true essence of Sicily. The ingredients, strictly locally sourced and sourced directly from the castle's garden, are expertly enhanced by the chef, who flawlessly combines tradition and modernity. Each dish reflects the region, carefully following seasonality and showcasing authentic and genuine flavors. We greatly appreciated the courtesy, professionalism, and elegance of Mario and the entire dining room staff, who were always attentive and present without being intrusive. Service worthy of such a prestigious setting. The wine list is also excellent, with a wide selection ranging from Sicilian excellence to national and international labels. An experience that to call excellent is an understatement: everything is taken care of down to the smallest detail, from the cuisine to the service, in a perfect balance that celebrates Sicily, its products, and its extraordinary gastronomic tradition. Highly recommended!

01/06/2026: Even on the veranda, why do you let your customers smoke freely? Why, during my lunch, which I paid handsomely for, must I endure the RUDENESS of your customers who light up cigars without caring about the other diners? You don't say anything so as not to lose a customer, and should customers have to argue with such rude people? There were no children present, but if there had been, the rude man with the cigar would have smoked anyway. You still lost a customer.

02/06/2026: The four of us foodies visited the restaurant because a local had recommended it as a hidden gem… promising authentic Sicilian cuisine… we found the place packed with Americans who were clearly enjoying themselves… we got the distinct impression that the chef had apparently eaten a clown for breakfast… the names of the dishes and their combinations can only be described as bizarre… the hot dishes arrived cold and everything we ordered was completely tasteless… to top it all off, the whole thing was decorated with various pastes in neon colors… at night, the food presented a few additional challenges… far too expensive for what was offered… one star for the food is actually too generous…

I've been to several restaurants in Ortigia, but this one struck me for the complexity of the dishes, the quality of the service (the best ever), and the absolutely enviable location in an oasis of absolute tranquility. It had the same word in the name... no one warned us about it until we paid... in addition to the coperto they also charge servizio. The food was ok but we left disappointed. First not good experience in an Italian restaurant.

17/05/2026: I ate there for a communion and I must say that the food was really good, the service was impeccable.

31/05/2026: I arrived at 1:30 PM and finished at 3:27 PM, eating very little and having to wait forever. About an hour passed between the first and second courses. The pasta dish was a paltry portion. For the second course, we ordered a cutlet, the smallest I've ever seen in a restaurant. Dessert arrived cut in half. They skimped on everything possible. The service was slow and unfriendly. The only decent thing was the location, which was nice. Poor value for money.
