La Mattanza In Palermo

Simple and welcoming location, helpful and very polite waiters, top-notch team, and a friendly and knowledgeable owner! It's definitely a place to try.

We went to La Mattanza for a family Sunday lunch. The place was packed, and to make things easier for the kitchen, given the large crowd, we all opted for the tasting menu (€40 per person). ​As for the food, the ingredients were excellent: the fish was fresh, and the dishes were generally good. Unfortunately, however, the experience was marred by the management of the day. ​Service was extremely slow: we arrived at 1:00 PM, and the appetizer was served after 45 minutes, the main course another hour later, and the main course another 45 minutes later. To make matters worse, the air conditioning on the enclosed terrace wasn't fully functioning, turning the room into a veritable greenhouse and making the wait very tiring due to the excessive heat.

Lunch with visiting friends. Appetizers: mussel soup, caponata, seafood salad (more octopus!), plentiful and delicious! First course: two portions of spaghetti insabiati (friends, already full, shared), excellent and plentiful! Sorbet to finish, a must to cool everything down. Excellent lunch! Air-conditioned interior, good conditions. It's just a shame the veranda wasn't adequately air-conditioned; it would have been delightful with a sea view there... but you can't have everything. We're satisfied with the quality we received!!! ... oh... reasonable bill! ... and our visiting friends... delighted! A guarantee, as always!

Simple and beautiful table setting, clean glasses, excellent waiter who took care of our table, friendly and helpful from start to finish. The soup and peppered mussels were excellent in quality and quantity, as were the gluten-free first course with red shrimp and cherry tomatoes, and the pasta was sand-soaked. Sea view, air conditioning, and parking. I RECOMMEND IT.

You never forget your first time... recommended if you're in the Arenella area and want to enjoy the cool sea air and good Palermo cuisine.

Second lunch in this restaurant. The food is great, mixed fish grill, tuna, steak, salad, nice Sicilian wine. All so good. Food with drinks very reasonable price. Such a good relaxing atmosphere, with a cool sea breeze coming through the windows. An amazing find away from the busy city.
