02/05/2026: Finally, a place that can be counted on one hand in all of Sardinia. NO Argentine shrimp NO calamari from other continents NO "fake" fried sea bream Fair prices and generous portions. Everything is exceptional, the stuffed mussels are incredible. We'll see you again, thank you so much.

07/06/2026: Terrible experience from the moment we entered The staff (except waitress) were wearing sports clothes and were poor in appearance, looked more like they work in a warehouse or manual job. Would expect a uniform or professional appearance, but no If I understand correctly the place has been recently refurbished, judging by the photos from other reviews. I can say that the decor and ambience was made worse. Perhaps it’s a new owner and it was them who made the changes Most previous reviews are very positive but I have absolutely no idea why. Again I can only think the management changed and all aspects of the restaurant declined Food was very average. We decided not to have dessert and coffee as we normally do, and had went to another restaurant Moreover, it was the worst meal we had during our stay in the city and the most expensive. It was painful to pay the bill The location is not nice and there is no terrace to sit on, so only option is inside I cannot recommend at all. There are many much better options

07/06/2026: My two friends and I had dinner last Tuesday. We ate raw fish (carpaccio and tartare), which were excellent and very fresh. Then we had some first courses. I must say that we were very surprised and fascinated by the cuisine and its flavours. A special mention goes to the very kind and helpful waitress. I really wanted to make a good impression on my friends.

Unfortunately, today we found it to be a tired place, with barely decent appetizers, and spaghetti with clams and bottarga, with the starters being few and tiny, and barely a trace of minced bottarga, all drowned in oil from at least two years ago!! REALLY DISAPPOINTING

19/04/2026: I've eaten at Portolano several times in the past, and I must say I've always enjoyed it, even though the prices have always been higher than average. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case today. The "black ravioli" I ordered were definitely not the highlight of the day. Aside from the "quantity" (5 ravioli and 2 mussels), there was very little flavor. At €22.00 (basically €4 per ravioli and €1 per mussel), they were a disappointment. The tagliolini with cuttlefish and bottarga were definitely a better dish, as was the seadas. The mussel sauté wasn't particularly flavorful, but overall it was adequate. Overall, today the quality didn't match the price. I hope to find the same taste and quality as years ago next time.

25/04/2026: A fairly typical restaurant. The food perhaps deserves 6 stars, but it depends on who appreciates it. Too typical for me. Once inside, you can't "save" yourself with a pizza. They're not open at lunchtime. An old-fashioned inn. This gives you a sense of security. Anyway, I recommend it.

21/04/2026: We arrived without a reservation and got a table without any problems. The restaurant is very spacious, yet still cozy. Menus are available in Italian and German. The food was excellent, the selection huge—almost overwhelming! The service was also great, with friendly and efficient staff. If you like fish, you'll be in heaven here; the price-performance ratio is excellent. In Germany, we would classify this restaurant as traditional, home-style dining. We would definitely come back! 👌

06/05/2026: We stayed at this property for two days around May 1st in the "romantic" suite, with half-board. The room has a breathtaking sea view, is spacious, and the amenities are top-notch. A bottle of Prosecco welcomed us. I'd like to point out that there was a problem with the pool, but that can happen at the beginning of the season, and when it does, the professionalism and expertise of a property shines through. In our case, we resolved the issue impeccably. A big thank you to the staff, from the floor lady to the reception staff, but undeniable praise goes to the restaurant staff: discreet, professional, never intrusive, but absolutely pleasant and knowledgeable. 14/05/2026: If, like us, they have fresh lobster, don't hesitate. Superbly cooked, a pure delight. A little indulgence of the trip. The crema catalana is to die for. We're near Alghero, Spain, let's not forget.

For the main course, a delicious grouper fillet prepared in the Sardinian style. We finished with a cafe americano with a homemade liqueur of lime, ginger, and mint. Delicious. We took a nice bottle home with us. Very friendly service at this family restaurant. In short, highly recommended!

16/05/2026: We spent 7 days in Cala Gonone and ate very well here for 3 of those days. The service was super friendly and attentive, and we had pizza and pasta that tasted amazing, as did the seadas 🤩.
