09/11/2025: So, in a (compound) word: tourist trap. The pasta with scampi was made like in German or French restaurants pretending to be Italian: a sauce made with cream, a kilo of salt, and sugar. The mussels in the pasta seemed to be from Findus, but the real shock was a €12 plate with 40 grams of fried cod that was neither hot nor flavorful, and above all, VERY LITTLE.

09/11/2025: Excellent service. A cozy, intimate atmosphere, well-decorated. The quality-price ratio is a bit too high.

28/09/2025: We ate at the restaurant two evenings. The fish was very good, and the older waiter was very friendly and competent. The second evening was less good; we had to wait over an hour for a fish soup and a pizza. The waiter was partially apologetic. However, the behavior of this older lady – apparently the manager – who showed no sign of regret when asked was extremely unpleasant and completely unprofessional. The same was true of the behavior of the lady at the cashier, apparently the daughter of the house, who responded to my comment in an arrogant and not at all service-oriented manner. The only logical consequence: we ate at a different restaurant for the next three days. As a guest, you don't have to put up with such arrogance from the owners!!!

07/11/2025: Honestly, I expected more. The food is good but not wow-worthy. The staff is smug. Not suitable for groups or people who speak loudly. Suitable for couples.

02/11/2025: We had lunch here, choosing the tasting menu. The food was truly good, especially the raw fish and the tagliolini with lemon, stracciatella, and shrimp tartare. As for the service, it didn't live up to the cuisine. One unpleasant incident: the waiter who served us the wine completely ignored the idea that a woman might understand anything about wine, showing the label and allowing only the man to taste the wine (a bit too sexist in 2025).

27/06/2025: I had dinner at this restaurant. For us it was an unforgettable experience. We had raw fish and lobster with troccoli cooked in a SPECTACULAR way. Everything was very fresh, the service (a team of young, smart and kind guys) was impeccable... truly a beautiful experience

19/10/2025: A wonderful location surrounded by greenery, just a stone's throw from Gallipoli, a rustic establishment offering simple yet refined dishes. The quality of the food is excellent, from the appetizers to the first and second courses. The antipasto was rich and delicious, and the first courses were excellent. We opted for the meat course, which was delicious. The staff was very kind and helpful. We were very satisfied.

13/09/2025: We were thrilled with the cuisine, service, and location at Calamate. We stayed in Gallipoli for 12 days, and we ate there four times. It was undoubtedly the best dinners of the entire trip. The appetizer selection—the burratina, the homemade orecchiette, and the bombette (which we tried breaded and baked here)—were all exceptional, as were the grilled red tuna and the pasta with scampi. The ingredients are excellent, and the price, in my opinion, perfectly in line with what's on offer. If you're in Gallipoli, it's worth a visit!

18/11/2025: Accidentally, but very well. A bit by accident, while looking for an open place in the "dying" historic center of Taranto, we came across this restaurant. The service was professional, though perhaps a bit surprised by us tourists, as there were only Italians around, probably locals. Great, if a bit brusque. But I still recommend it!

The staff is friendly, welcoming, and always available, making the experience even more enjoyable, especially Mr. Angelo, whose hospitality makes you feel at home. 31/10/2025: We celebrated my parents' 50th birthday. To say everything was perfect is an understatement. The decor was meticulously designed, Simona was a true professional. The food was excellent, exquisite. Everything was plated with simplicity and elegance. The waiters were always present and available to everyone. The dishes were simple, but with a unique flavor. Finally, cuisine worthy of being savored. The only shame was not having met them sooner. But now they're here for us. Thanks, guys. It was a day we'll always remember, also for your helpfulness and kindness. See you soon.

30/10/2025: The food was unfortunately oversalted; I think the cook was having a bad day. However, considering the prices, it's outrageous – €18 for pasta! 😀 And be sure to check the prices on the menu; they simply added €10 to the bill.

15/06/2025: Siamo stati in questo ristorante per confrontare l’attuale gestione con quella che conoscevamo ai tempi di Cosimino. Abbiamo trovato tutto molto fresco con ottime pietanze. Lo staff ottimo,molto efficiente e garbato. Il costo in linea con i ristoranti dello stesso livello è congruo rispetto alla qualità. Penso ci sia la necessità di rivedere il menù almeno per quel che riguarda gli ingredienti dei vari piatti proposti anche perché siamo rimasti un po’ delusi dal primo che abbiamo ordinato pensando in una preparazione col pomodorino anziché in bianco. Per il resto ok

10/06/2025: Locale perfetto per gli amanti del crudo di qualità; per gli altri poca scelta. Le indicazioni della gestione sono chiare: solo crudo e qualcosa di scottato, quindi si sa cosa aspettarsi.... Ottime ostriche e crostacei come del resto i vari carpacci. Molto buono il salmone scottato ed il salmone affumicato da gustare con "foglie" di pane abbrustolito e burro.. Prezzi alti ma rapportati al prodotto.

05/06/2025: We hebben heerlijk geluncht op een prachtige plek! Het eten was top. Fine Dining voor een vriendelijke prijs. De service was goed, het eten heerlijk en de lokatie prachtig. Ze gebruiken kruiden uit eigen tuin.

The fish was incredibly fresh, cooked with simplicity and refinement, while the meat was tender and flavorful. The service was attentive and friendly. A culinary experience I highly recommend, both for the food and the enchanting location.
