23/06/2025: We were there for the start of the evening at 7 p.m. We had called a few days in advance to make a reservation, which I think was absolutely sensible. The restaurant has limited seating and exudes a very intimate and welcoming atmosphere. The food, the hospitality, the service, and the restaurant itself were all absolutely first-class. It was a wonderful evening, and we would have loved to try everything on the menu. All the dishes we chose were absolutely fantastic. For us, it's an absolute insider tip when in Trieste.

22/06/2025: Small simple place with few seats. Genuine flavors and a menu that invites you to taste. We fell in love with the chickpea cream❤️. The friendliness of the staff combined with the excellent service make the experience very pleasant.

12/06/2025: I must say that the experience I had was not in line with the expectations I had created based on the reviews I had read. The dishes were in the right quantities and also good, but not superior to other places quite close by. The staff seemed very friendly and helpful.

07/06/2025: We had a great meal there. Crab gnocchi, eggplant ravioli with shellfish, fish fritto. Delicious! Not to mention the kindness of the waitress and the chef's visit to the dining room to check our satisfaction.

17/06/2025: My daughter and I were in Trieste this weekend and went to lunch at this restaurant and we were THRILLED BY EVERYTHING. The place is very nice and clean. The service from Franco and his staff is impeccable. We ordered spaghetti with clams and spaghetti with lobster and fried calamari: everything was delicious but the fried calamari was 110 AND PRAISE!!! I have never eaten fried fish this good! It melts in your mouth! We ate so well that we went back the next day for dinner. Excellent value for money. I highly recommend going to eat at this restaurant in my opinion the best in Trieste! 29/05/2025: Amazing atmosphere with vinyls and instruments all around the restaurant. Live music on selected nights which is amazing and enriching. Fresh fish and tasteful food, among the best in the whole area, if not the best. And the owner is kind and very talkative. Highly recommended for a unique experience

05/07/2025: Extremely rude. I would suggest giving your business to someone else. Very unfriendly. I think I would be generous if I said that they gave us 3 seconds to speak to them. There’s being weary of tourists, and then there’s just being a straight up unkind human. Do better because the rest of the restaurants around you have been nothing but lovely. Absolute waste of time.

15/07/2025: A little gem hidden in the heart of Trieste! Buffet Da Gildo is a cozy, simple place with an authentic atmosphere, far removed from mass tourism. Perfect for those who want to discover the typical flavors of local tradition. The service is fast, always friendly, and attentive. The menu showcases the influences of the city of Trieste, the people who have inhabited and passed through it, with dishes made only with top-quality ingredients. The gnocchi with goulash are absolutely not to be missed: the sauce is rich and flavorful, while the gnocchi melt in your mouth. The sardines are also excellent, fresh and crispy. Although for me, a special mention goes to the sandwich with hand-sliced cooked ham, enriched with fried eggplant, mustard, and horseradish: a strong and authentic combination, worth the visit alone. The prices are truly fair, especially considering the quality of the ingredients.

28/06/2025: In the area for work we stop at this restaurant for lunch as it is close to the hotel where we are staying. Tables in the garden with a tent, the atmosphere is very nice even if when it is hot you can hear it a lot down there. A menu is not brought, a few dishes are offered, a take-away menu brought only after ordering and we discover many other dishes not offered. As advice I would say to leave a complete menu to the customer, at most the variations of the day are exposed verbally. Cacio e pepe unfortunately too liquid, while the squid ink is good. Very small bathroom along the corridor. The service is however kind and present. I count for a total of €40 per person, I do not argue about the amount, but since I did not have a menu the prices are not known, if you also give me a total amount without a detail the customer will never know the cost of each individual course.

02/05/2025: Unfortunately I cannot be satisfied. The room has an awning above, the ground is uneven, the bathroom is unwatchable and therefore not a good environment. The food is decent - the chef has several certificates on display - but with several defects (meatballs not good, cod not good, rest ok) but the service is done by elderly people who are not up to par with poor service. Dirty cup of cheap coffee. I don't recommend

06/07/2025: Ate as a family with small children. Good pizza, fried food and also fish first courses.

05/07/2025: Right on the harbor, prices are totally reasonable, staff are friendly and attentive, and the pizza and pasta taste very good.
